001 ❖ video/action
--why are you taking your hands off the steering?
--because I have to get a good angle for my viewers! Duh.
[introducing your host, gamer girl extraordinaire.]
Listen, this isn't the time to be doing that. We need to reach the base on this radar, and we need to work together.
--she's working on her blog! Oi, listen to him!
[the video feed turns to focus on the other two aboard the ship; one’s a toothy young redhead who seems to be wearing nothing but swimming jammers for some reason, and the other is an older guy in some power rangers suit of sorts. welcome aboard S.S. Inappropriately Dressed]
--excuse you, it’s not a blog! It’s called a livestream! Anyway, the name’s D.Va, and the older guy to my left's not a bad pilot. Ignore the guy behind me.
--you're judging other pilots right now!? I’d give you a 0 out of 10! We almost just hit that reef, holy shi --
--rude! Seriously, chill out for a second, will you? I'd like to see you do better!
I'd like to see you do better too!
The two of you, stop! [shiro, the older guy, seems to have had it with their bickering, pulling the steering handle upwards to avoid a cluster of mushroom trees likely to ruin their ship] The seas are rough as it is, we need to work as a team right now. You can go at each other's throat once we're out of this!
Ch, if we get out -- fine, what do you want us to do?
You, in the back, buckle up. You’re going to get thrown about and hurt.
...A-ah... [a guilty click... safety first yo]
And you, D.Va, is it? Concentrate on piloting. It’s hard to see and the seas are pushing us around as it is, so try and keep the ship as stable as you can!
-- ...Okay, fine.
...I can livestream your stupid piloting if you want from back here.
-- If you know how to set it up, be my guest!
Hey, to your right!
[it seems like a crash, the lights going red on board, and the visual feed spinning as the ship spirals out of control under their hands. good thing shiro told you to buckle up, huh, rin? amidst this mess, some shouting and ordering about, the stream cuts off. will our heroes live another day?]
[yeah, they do]
-- ot it all. That was actually some really amazing piloting, both of you... [someone sounds a little starstruck... what sugoi he has witnessed, the world will never know, because rin did not in fact record that shit]
D.va, well done. That was really impressive--I have to say I wouldn’t have been able to pull this off without you. [turning around, he smiles at the redhead teen, even if wtf? at your lack of clothes, homie] Doing alright? Name's Shiro, by the way.
-- Rin. -- It's a girl's name, but I'm a guy.
[shiro gives him an odd look. d.va definitely does the same.]
-- Aww, you’re so sweet, Shiro! [d.va flashes a grateful smile at him, also thoroughly impressed.] Honestly, it was your quick thinking that got us out of trouble. I usually don't like being ordered around, but I'll let it slide. [she then turns to rin, sitting behind her--and he better have recorded all of that!!] See? Told you we'd be fine!
[shiro offers a smile at them both. thumbs up with his mechanical arm.]
Let's get out of here and see who we can find in the base. They might be able to help us out.
[little did our heroes know that upon opening that door into the base, they would be greeted by the sickness apocalypse. moans, groans, sniffles and hacks. what’s worse, the ocean going nuts outside because of a hurricane, or the dribbly-nosed zombies in the only place considered safe from the elements?]
...after all that, is this place haunted or something...? E-eh --
You guys might want to stand back--
[...was that your burrito of death our triumphant trio has just trampled, like those wildebeests over mufasa? remember... remember...]
--because I have to get a good angle for my viewers! Duh.

Having been here for months, he just stares for about three seconds. ]
Come in. You can stay in the laboratory if you wish, it is mostly clear. Or come help me.
[ The Servant delivers it in the most deadpan way possible, as if three new people is nothing new at all... which it isn't. ]
no subject
[a weak joke, considering this guy is so monotone he might as well be a zombie... yeesh, don't think such stupid unsettling things, this place is creepy enough as is!]
-- Are you the medic?
no subject
[ There's a bit more severity in his tone now, almost disapproving - but it disappears with Rin's question. ]
I am a physician, yes. If you have no need of my service, I would appreciate assistance.
no subject
Actually, we do have need of your assistance. This guy over here's got an injury, on his side.
[indicates the man in the dumbass power Rangers get up]
Which he didn't bother to mention until about five minutes ago.
[what an irresponsible man]
no subject
I will see to him. You and the young lady will see me later for a checkup. How did you come to this world?
[ Possible infection? He's being Extremely Serious about this, even if he's holding a bottle and a moist towel.
Also, he might sound familiar to Rin, but his deadpan voice might mask any sign that they share the same voice actor. ]
no subject
[he steps up to stand beside rin, left hand still across his torso to hold on to his side.]
We made our way in with an underwater ship. The cuts aren't too deep, but I need to get them cleaned up.
[what was he fighting to leave claw marks like that... mind your business folks]

I will heal you. You need to come to the medbay with me. Your friends as well, if they are amiable to the idea.
[ He'll start moving through the corridors now, it's up to the youth whether they want to follow him. ]
You need to elaborate more. Did you awaken within your ship, or were you somewhere else? Where was this ship located before you piloted it?
no subject
Uh, sure. If it means getting away from all the sickies.
[ Yeah, this guy IS a creepy doc, but she can handle!! Probably. Most likely. If it means not getting sick, then she'll be fine. ]
Last I remember, I was in the ship with these two. Honestly can't remember much else before that, but I thought this was gonna be a mission in the East Sea! Not some other planet!
no subject
[ - but he's not here to grumble incessantly at youth, so. On to the more important things. ]
So you woke up in the ship with no memory of how you arrived there?
no subject
None. I don't remember any traumatic concussion or event before dealing with her driving, either.
[wait, wouldn't it follow]
But I guess people with amnesia don't got that kind of info...
no subject
I see. Most intriguing. The others at this base arrived through greatly varied means. You may find more meaning in yours if you speak to them.
[ Not something he can cure, though. He deals more with actual wounds. ]
no subject
What about you? How did you arrive here?
no subject
I don't think this has got anything to do with amnesia. [in case that makes rin feel better...] But it's true that from between my latest memory to being onboard of the ship, I can't actually remember how I got in it.
[not, that it might be too unusual for him, but he's sure damn glad he's not the only one]
[on top of d.va's question:] Is it right to assume everyone 'arrived' here, rather than being natives to this planet?
no subject
no subject
None of us are natives. This ship was sent here for a colonizing mission. We are the second wave, so to speak. [ A pause, as he decides how best to answer D.Va's question: ] I was assigned to another place, but my transport was interrupted or derailed in some form. Thus I am here.
[ They're at the medbay about now, so he opens the door and motions for the others to enter. The bay is a cross between a laboratory and a small clinic, evenly divided in half. Sanson keeps his things organized, so the clinic side doesn't actually have a lot of things on the table save for boxes with a red cross marked on them. There's also a makeshift examination bed as well as several chairs. ]
Take a seat, and give me your names. [ Did he watch the broadcast? He probably didn't pay a lot of attention to it. ] I am Charles-Henri Sanson.
[ Historically famous executioner from France. Does that name ring a bell? ]
no subject
[ It would be the first time that Rin and Shiro hear her real name, too! She'd rather people call her D.Va, though. Hana's mostly reserved for closer friends and family.
D.Va enters the medbay, and it's extremely tidy (then again she's not very tidy to begin with), but she honestly didn't expect anything less. Sanson still gives her a weird vibe, but he's being helpful, so she shrugs it off rather quickly. ]
So...there were people here before us? Do you know what happened to them?
no subject
I will use your preferred name. [ He would expect himself to give a weird vibe, so he just disregards her expression and moves straight on to the more important things. ] They vanished. Possibly out to establish new bases, that is the most optimistic guess. URSULA's communication range does not extend very far, and this planet is large.
no subject
[(her real name's not D.Va? what the hell?]
[Rin supposes he should go next, breaking the terse silence in response to "they vanished" and some depressing new info]
-- I'm Matsuoka Rin, from Iwatobi, Tottori prefecture, Japan. It's nice to meet you. Thanks for helping us out.
["us"]
no subject
It is no trouble. We will have to work together in the future. I will do my best.
no subject
[cute name reveals and everything aside, shiro takes a seat at the medbay. now that he knows what he's here for, he starts removing the upper part of his power ranger cosplay, careful as he reaches the area where his injury is, listening to the conversation as it goes.]
[URSULA again, and he's starting to think she's perhaps more benevolent than what some would give her credit.]
[he hesitates as he places his left hand over his right side, getting a feel for his wound. wince.]
--really, thanks. Shall we call you Sanson?
