9/30, laundry room [one response only!]
[Frisk remembers falling forward. They remember salt in their mouth and water pressing cold against their skin and the dark rising up to meet them. Now, though, they find themselves upside down and landing heavily on their stomach on something soft and warm. They're feeling pretty warm, themselves, actually, and not wet anymore. They feel around and find a hinge, so they push.

Frisk tumbles out of the dryer and onto the floor, bringing some of the clothes along with them.

Ah. This isn't a beach, is it?]

9/30, aquarium
[It looks like Frisk has found fish! A lot of fish. Some of them look like little manta rays, but the most prominent one has little tentacles and a face that seems to be smiling at them. When it approaches the tank, it takes Frisk a moment before they realize the fish is fist bumping.

Once they do realize, though, Frisk giggles and returns the motion. Once, twice, again, again... Frisk runs around the tank fist bumping in various places and watching the cute fish swim to meet them.]

9/30, safe shallows
[Frisk is going way too fast. They grabbed one of the sea glides, you see, and while they weren't entirely sure how to work it, they really wanted to try it. Maybe this wasn't the smartest idea, because not only are they only a novice swimmer, they're not used to moving through it so quickly. Wait, is that someone else?]

Look out!

[ hajime walks into the observatory to do her daily fist bump for the magister. she always tries to do it at least once because like... it's the magister. everyone loves the magister?

and then she spots this small child just running around all over the place. this is cute. ]

Awww!

[stillyou]

[Frisk turns, smiling invitingly at the girl.] You, too. [They gesture toward the Magister. Join in!]

[sniptuck]

[ hajime will happily go over to the tank and...... fist bumps ]

Tada! Another bump accomplished.

[stillyou]

[Hooray! Frisk claps.] You've got experience.

[sniptuck]

i have been practicing my technique with the Magister for months now!

[ although speaking of ] Are you new? I've never seen you here before.

[stillyou]

[Frisk nods, then shoves their hand out for a handshake. This is how you greet a new friend!] I fell into the ocean today.

[sniptuck]

[ she very seriously shakes their hand. hajime is a fan of handshakes. ]

Did you fall very far?

[stillyou]

[Perfect, the friendship has officially begun.] I'm not sure. It didn't feel far, but it might have been pretty far. [Since they're on a different planet now.] Did you fall in, too?

[sniptuck]

Maybe! I could have floated in like a bird...

[ she flaps her arms, mimicking wings, for effect. ]

Either way, we're here now.

[stillyou]

[Another nod. Truly, these are wise words.] Do you like it here?

[sniptuck]

I do! The people are nice and the planet is pretty.

[ although she is well aware that other people definitely want to be gone. hajime does not blame them. ]

[stillyou]

[Frisk smiles. It's nice to hear about someone liking a place they're living in.] Is the whole planet really an ocean?

[sniptuck]

Yup! There's some land here and there, but it's all mostly water. It's alive, you know! It's like we're swimming along to its heartbeat.

[stillyou]

The planet's alive? [Frisk's eyes widen. They're not sure how that works, but they don't have any reason to disbelieve this.] Is it nice?

[sniptuck]

Ummm, sometimes? I don't think the planet really knows how it feels.

[ between the two vastly different horrorterrors roaming around out there, and the pulse shooting everything down, and just. everything. it's hard to tell. ]

But I hope that we can make it happy.

[stillyou]

[Frisk reaches for the locket around their neck, running a thumb along the edge.] I want to help. Do you think I can?

[sniptuck]

You're here, aren't you? So of course you can help!

[ she smiles brightly at frisk. ] Ah, wait. I'm Hajime!

[stillyou]

It's nice to meet you. [Then, as an afterthought, like they're not used to this second part--] I'm Frisk. I'll try to learn a lot about this place. To help.

[sniptuck]

If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them as best as I can!

[ whether or not she thought the pause was weird, hajime does not mention it. ]

[Hmmm... Questions...]

Are crossword puzzles or junior jumbles harder?

[sniptuck]

Crossword puzzles!

[ debate over. ]

[stillyou]

Mmm... [Frisk considers this, then nods.] But if you see a really tall skeleton, tell him it's junior jumble.

[sniptuck]

Okay, got it!

[ hajime just accepts the request, since of course there are really tall skeletons around somewhere in the world. ]

Which do you think is harder?

[stillyou]

[Frisk speaks as if they're letting Hajime in on a secret.] Crosswords. [They press a finger against their lips.] The hints are harder.

[sniptuck]

[ hajime presses a finger to her own lips, sealing the promise of secrecy. she will now take this information with her to the grave. ]

They are! And there's usually more things you need to fill out, too.
