MISSION #?? REPAIR THAT OBSERVATORY

[A few hours after the explosion settles, Ludger checks with URSULA to be sure it's safe to go outside. Then he suits up and swims around to the broken observatory. The crack looks pretty bad...

This looks like a job for domestic repair!

A telepathic communication broadcasts to all in the radius:

First, the visual image of the broken observatory.
Second, images as he tries to figure out how to fix the cracks: a roll of tape? a bottle of glue labelled "UNDERWATER GLUE"?? (both prospects are accompanied by a deep sense of confusion)
Third, a querying image of some kind of tube that could pump the water out of the observatory? (There are arrows showing the flow of water in this mental image.)

The communication ends.

Ludger will stay outside the observatory, trying to search the plantlife for ... something that would make underwater glue, he guesses.]

[Look, he didn't even get to play with the watches back home. They are all just doing what they can.]

[ There's faint confusion - ten what? Seconds? Minutes? Hours? - but then confirmation - because minutes makes the most sense - and she's just going to hope that's what he meant as she hurries off to grab the essential tools, or whatever looks helpful. ]

[Ten minutes is, indeed, the amount of time intended. In that span, he has managed to scoop up some tubing that probably is meant for some kind of gear, not like he knows, as well as, first off, some gelatinousness he managed to extract from floaters (the membrane still unsettles him) as well as Jelly Plants, which he's mostly been using to cook, honestly. Stopping in the corridor outside the broken observatory, he sets his salvage down. Here's hoping some of it works...]

[ He'll find Cardia kneeling a short distance away and setting down a small pile of tools. A wrench, pliers... lock... picks... (don't ask, a girl has to be prepared for kidnapping attempts). As he approaches, she glances up. ]

... So you did mean minutes.

[He blinks a moment, then scratches the back of his head. Oh, was that ambiguous? Whoops.

Then he sees the tools. Wrench, pliers—lockpicks? What?

No, don't ask. Manners, Ludger.]

How can I help?

We have to attach the... [ brief gesture to the gelatinous whatsit ] to the tube, and make sure water can pass through it without escaping. Do you know how well it can stretch?

[He shakes his head. He does not know! But he can try to find out!

First, he takes hold of the jelly plant. And hot damn is it firm okay that was a mistake. He looks at her sheepishly and sets that one aside. No go! However, when he takes hold of the floater's membrane, he finds that it stretches on and on, very readily.

Ahah! Perfect! He grins at Cardia. Will this work?]

[ Cardia-- doesn't quite grin, but she does smile, nodding approvingly and holding up the tube. Can he help her attach it? ]

[Yes he can! He scoots over and presses the membrane over the frame. With some careful fiddling, he's able to get it all around the edge of the tube. Hell yeah!]

[ Perfect! Than she's going to do some tinkering to make sure the membrane holds the same shape as the tube and we're in business. Along with some other repair-y stuff that Cardia's player is not good enough to detail. ]
