[ "Wait here, and someone will be with you shortly," he was told, and so like a good boy, Nagisa had waited. And to his credit, he did wait for the better part of an hour before getting up. As long as he didn't leave this room properly, that still counted as "here," right? In a way?
Close enough for him, anyway.
The rifle he finds looks more like something out of a movie or a video game rather than something out of real life -- even accounting for Ritsu's body upgrades, it's almost unreal. He reaches into his pocket for his phone; even if the connection is sparse here, Ritsu would surely be able to find a connection and get through--
--though that would be more plausible if he'd remembered his phone at all. Oops. Nagisa pats himself down just to make sure he didn't accidentally stick it in the "wrong" pocket (happens sometimes!), but nothing. ]
Ah, did I seriously--
[ Well fine then. Notebook instead. He might not be an artist, but he can at least sketch some of the design, right? And maybe some of the layout of the room. Make note of the cannisters marked with the biohazard and poison signs. That's not suspicious at all. ]
b. WEREN'T ME OFFICER
[ So maybe you were checking something nearby, or you were in a different room of the labs, but while you're minding your own business, you might hear a bit of a panicked yelp and a series of dull thuds, like something slamming against glass.
If you come to investigate, there's a boy having a staredown with the tiger plant, crouched and with something in hand -- but when he sees people have noticed, he stands and smoothly tucks it away (knife? what knife?), with an embarrassed little smile. ]
Er-- sorry about that. Everything's fine, I promise.

AHHH?! —Were you there all along?!
[He's still yelling from the other area.]

So he keeps his voice even, light and soothing, trying to build on the harmless appearance. He also ignores the continued thuds behind him from the tiger plant. The glass hadn't even cracked, so it's probably safe to turn his back on it. ]
Um, sort of? I was just having a look around. Sorry to have startled you!
no subject
As soon as he pokes his head in, the plant thumps against the glass again, and he jumps back again with another yelp.]

Nagisa will probably hear him coming before he sees him; that telltale roar of air in the closed hallways of the base is pretty hard to miss. Not that it takes more than a second for him to show up, anyway; he's going at full speed. The doors are flung open, and Korosensei is there, holding them apart with his tentacles and looking extremely hopeful. Today's his lucky day: his hopes aren't going to be let down this time. ]
-- N-Nagisa-kun?! Nagisa-kun!! Is that really you?!
[ with his usual stupid speed, he's standing in front of Nagisa, pressing a tentacle to his forehead, his wrist, patting his cheeks -- probably both checking to make sure he's uninjured and confirming he's not just hallucinating or something. Korosensei seems awfully worried... However, his lightning-fast checkup is over soon enough, and the poor kid will go from being prodded by tentacles to being squished tight by them as Korosensei gives him a slimy bear hug, bursting into tears almost immediately. ]
Uwoohh... Sensei... Sensei was so worrieeeed!! Don't scare me like that ever again...!! Nagisa-kuuuun!! Sniff...
no subject
[ It's not the most eloquent thing he could have said, but no matter how used to dealing with Korosensei's speed Nagisa is, he still only has a human's reaction time. So he turns when he hears the boom -- because who else could that even be, really? -- and he has a half-second to realize he's being patted down, and then he's being hugged. That would be awkward enough at the best of times, but the fact that Sensei is crying just makes the whole thing alarming. Why's he so upset? Or is it that he's happy? Either way, Doting Parent Mode seems to be on full force.
Nagisa dangles for a few seconds, like a scruffed kitten, then begins to squirm until he can get one arm free to pat Korosensei's back.
Well. Pat, but also an attempt to tap out an S.O.S. He does manage a bit of a wheeze with what breath he has, though. ]
Sssss--sensei, ummmm--

Sorry. But to finally see one of my students again... I was just so overwhelmed with joy--!! [ oop, here come the waterworks again. Pulling a handkerchief out of someplace or other in his robes, he dabs delicately at his tears, even as he blubbers. ] Of course, I knew wonderful students like yourselves would be okay somehow, but still... Still...!! Looking after you is my responsibility, especially on a field trip! A-are you okay?! You're not hurt or anything, right?! If you even got water up your nose, I won't forgive myself!!
[ despite the melodramatics - which are continuing, speaking of, since he's leaning in with great concern - there is a very real tone of genuine concern underlying his behavior. He was extremely worried about the class. It's been eating away at him for months now, growing worse with every week that passed with no sign of them. Seeing even just one of them in one piece, evidently safe and sound... It takes a huge burden off of his heart. ]

Dirk is also holding what appears to be the head of a robotic Hello Kitty, so that's also a thing.]
Yo. Can I help you, dude?
[It isn't confrontational. Dirk's voice is far too uninflected for that. The low-voiced monotony manages to be a probably-sincere question, although admittedly shades and a neutral expression are hard to read.]

Anime teenagers.]Er, sorry, I was just a bit -- I was supposed to be waiting for someone, and I got a bit bored. I didn't want to touch anything without permission.
[ And that's true; he's competent with firearms, but they're not his preference. And poisons are right out. He's glad to know they're there, just in case, but he'd rather keep note of them if any of the rest of 3-E show up. ]
Should I leave?
no subject
[Dirk doesn't really respond to the embarrassment or... anything. He is just so monotonous. Seeing that Nagisa is okay, Dirk walks over to the corner of the lab that he prefers to work at and settles down there.]

Er... What, did the poor plant do something to offend you? Resorting to cold-blooded murder is kind of savage.
[ she doesn't give a damn about the plant, she's just messing with him. rose can't help but be a little curious, though. this kid looks way too nervous to be planning on putting a potential weapon to good use. ]
I still see that knife, by the way.
no subject
Aah, no, I didn't realize it was going to be... um. I didn't realize it was behind glass. I was just going to defend myself.
[ Which is true! More accurately, he hadn't even realized the plant was there at all, which was an oversight on his part. He'd been so focused on looking at all the tech that he'd let himself get distracted until the tiger plant had lashed out. His teachers would be disappointed. ]
If it's yours, I'm very sorry. I'll be more careful in the future.
no subject
[ rose steps closer and knocks on the glass, tilting her head and observing it. what she gets in response is a very angry, very bitey plant. she gasps and jumps back, clutching her hand like she'd been bitten despite the fact that it hadn't even touched her. ]
No way in hell this thing is mine! Go ahead and slice it open for all I care!
[ she crouches down, staring harder at the plant inside the glass. actually, she's practically glaring at it, like its very existence gravely offends her. dezel would probably think it's cute. ]
Y'think someone around here is really deranged enough to keep it as a pet? I take back what I said earlier, by the way. "Poor plant" my ass.

Oh, that is good. I see that you have met the lab plant.
[She walks over to check if Nagisa scraped himself when he got startled.]
Are you alright? No scrapes or cuts?
no subject
Oh, wait, she'd asked him something. ]
Um. Yes? Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry for the trouble.
no subject
That is good to hear.
[She studies Nagisa for a moment.]
I do not believe we have met yet.

So fine you had to pull a knife on it?
[Yeah he doesn't miss the little details.]
no subject
[ This guy's huge. Nagisa continues to cherish dreams that maybe he'll have a growth spurt in high school, but there's very little chance he'll make it that far.
After that mutter, though, he straightens up as much as he can, rubbing the back of his neck. Now he's just kind of sheepish -- he'd thought he was ready for this, but clearly he's more skittish (and careless) than he'd originally thought. ]
Ah, I'm sorry, I got a little bit-- um. Overexcited?

[Not that it did much of anything. Killua saw the knife but he doesn't even blink, strolling into the lab with his hands in his pockets.]
Just back up from it like two more steps. You're still in its territory.
no subject
[ Well that makes sense. All of it does, in fact, so Nagisa does as told, taking a few careful steps back from the tiger plant's area. He steps lightly, and once the plant goes back to just sulking, he finally looks at the newcomer. ]
