8/24: arrival
[ on the off chance you happen to be, like, swimming around above the base or something or flying in the air above the base or just chilling on a sandbar around there, guess what. you're treated to a teenaged demigod falling out of the sky and into the ocean. she shrieks a little as this happens because what the fuck what the fuck a stupid portal courtesy the gods is one thing but couldn't they at least -8/24: base
no. what is annabeth thinking. of course the gods would not make certain she like, landed on her feet or something. of course she's just dumped into a fucking ocean why the fuck not.
if you happen to laugh or stare or anything she'll be grumpy about it after getting her bearings: ]
What are you looking at?
[ look. today is normal day in the life of annabeth chase but that doesn't mean she's Thrilled about being dumped onto a new planet mostly made of water. where is her dumb boyfriend when she needs him???
otherwise she can be found surrounded by stalkers who seem to want something shiny? she's looking very reluctant to part with the shiny objects on her, though. ]
No, you can't have these, my dad gave them to me. [ leave her earrings Alone. leave her dad's college ring Alone. also leave this dagger she has Alone, that's important too??? maybe you have a shiny object to sacrifice to the stalkers so annabeth can actually escape without hurting them? ]
[ okay. she's sopping wet when she finally makes it back so she can be found. drying off. but after that annabeth just pokes around, getting gradually more irritated by the layout of the base. why is this how things are. why are things ridiculous. who planned this shit.8/25: architect
she also does take the time to claim private room 16 because while she's used to and likes sharing a room, she's not sure she wants to share a room with strangers over her half-siblings. so she can be found doing that.
or, rather more prominently, she can be found claiming a work area in one of the labs, typing on a laptop with an odd symbol and a weird-ass keyboard. if you recognize ancient greek, you'll be able to understand the symbol and the keypad and what's on the screen, but otherwise that sure does look like a lot of squiggles. she seems to be documenting a map of the base, and glaring at it.
...but there's also the possibility of her glaring at her communicator in a rather confused fashion as she tries to read some of the text posts. ]
...clari...clarified... [ damnit ] I wonder if I can hook this up to the laptop somehow. I can't read this. [ greek demigod problem 19485406. she's muttering to herself rather than speaking to someone directly, but it's easy to overhear her. ]
[ okay so like. the first thing of import annabeth did was apply to be Base Architect because she doesn't approve of most of the shenanigans going on and at least wants things to be organized re: the layout. she doesn't seem particularly inclined to organize the shenanigans going on otherwise but let her sort out the base itself. ]
Hello. This is Annabeth Chase - and I applied for a position on the crew: Architect. So, if you need assistance building anything please let me know. I've got plenty of experience and I think we can organize things a bit more than they otherwise have been.
[ read: stop putting shit wherever you feel like it HAVE A PLAN FIRST ]

arrival
oh. no. it's a person.
unfortunately, hajime does not have her NOTE on her because she can't really risk losing it in the water, so she can't transform and catch annabeth. instead, she watches as the girl lands in the water. goodbye, annabeth.......... ]
Wow, that sure was a fall!
no subject
luckily annabeth is more than used to being her own hero. she treds water grumpily, mentally deciding percy seriously needs to be around from now on when she's dumped into an ocean. what is even the point of dating the son of poseidon if he isn't there for that! ...you know. besides like. being best friends and loving him and stuff.
the gods are testing her patience, but that is a usual thing the gods always do. so. ]
Some people have questionable ideas regarding good arrival methods.
[ hera. it was probably hera. fuck hera? ]
no subject
[ which is a lot safer than getting dumped into the ocean, even though in both cases you end up wet. ]
I arrived in a life pod that caught on fire, so. Welcome! It's nice to meet you.
no subject
I'll count my blessings, then. [ re: at least she wasn't in a thing that caught on fire. she's used to falling. falling is...eh. ] I'm Annabeth Chase. Nice to meet you, too.
[ she...supposes? since she's not on the warpath looking for percy (who she thinks is safe at camp) annabeth can be polite. ish. ]

[have a calm, interested response;]
I didn't realise this crew had positions.
[he highly doubts that is a thing, but it's a beautiful dream]
Either way, the last building project made it pretty clear we could use an architect. Or just someone who understands shapes and dimensions a little bit. -- Nice to meet you. Rin Matsuoka.
no subject
[ annabeth filled out an entire application okay she's a science crew member and goddamnit she's going to sort the base out. architecture-wise. ]
Nice to meet you, Rin. I've actually held an architecture position before, so I do have the experience necessary. If you'd like to help out, let me know.

[maybe there was some hope for structure around here after all -- physically, at least]
I'm always up for working on the base. I've been diving to salvage the materials for new structures, mostly, though what happens to them after is kind of... not something I've been following.
[he sounds a little embarrassed now, like Annabeth walked into his hamster tube house and there was... a bunch of people sleeping in hallways and a really nonsensical looking jumble of new rooms]

Do you need it to converted visual to audio?
[He can do that. He assumes this is the problem because 'can only read Ancient Greek well' did not occur to him as a possible reason.]
no subject
she doesn't quite startle, but she does glance over at dirk. he will probably appreciate her bright orange t-shirt that says "camp half-blood" on it (whatever that is) with a pegasus underneath. tres chic. otherwise it's easy to tell annabeth spends a lot of time outdoors from her tan, and also that she probably gets into fights more than is usual for a teenaged girl because like most demigods she has some battle scars.
those details seem like they would be relevant to dirk, so there they are. ]
I guess that would be one method, but if I can get this network on my laptop instead, I might be able to read it better. I haven't really done something like that without someone from cabin nine before...
[ hephaestus kids are helpful? ]
I'm dyslexic unless it's, you know, Ancient Greek.
[ ...
dirk strider has no right to think this is weird. tbh. ]
no subject
He really likes her shirt and he wants to ask about it on the grounds that orange and also ponies are the best thing in the world, but then Annabeth says 'dyslexic unless it's Ancient Greek.'
Yeah that's weird. He has every right, don't even bring up the Gift of Gab it's still weird.]
Hm. I might need a little guidance on the Ancient Greek side, but I should be able to do the hook-up.

arrival (i hope this is ok, i can edit if not!)
in any case, she's a bit further out for him to catch, but that's fine because that's what his webbing is for. a string of some vaguely sticky substance wraps around her torso while she's still in midair before she's tugged sharply into peter's arms. ]
Whoa! Sorry. You okay?
no subject
so while she appreciates being caught somehow, she knows that vaguely sticky substance. annabeth has had lots of experience getting caught in spiderwebs. one even dragged her into the pits of tartarus.
accordingly she freezes and then bursts into motion trying to get the sticky substance off lmao sorry if she smacks you on accident while she panics, peter. who even is this guy? a son of arachne or something? do those exist??? ]
Oh my gods. [ ew ew ew ew ew ]
no subject
he does, at least, get that she is trying to remove his webbing. so he grabs the web and tugs it apart, ripping it in half and pulling the remains away from her clothing. ]
Okay, okay. You're good, it's off.

I hope you aren't expecting pay for your position, I doubt URUSLA has much funding. What sort of organization do you intend to bring to our humble little base?
[ don't touch the magister's observatory. ]
no subject
[ because it. will be. so much more organized. ]
Moving the units around so there's some order is the first of all - a residential wing rather than residences wherever. I also think something less hamster-esque wouldn't be a bad idea.
no subject
[ for. other people. rose probably vaguely uses seer nonsense to keep from getting lost. idk how but. ]
That would be a splendid idea. Though, I believe some people are still sleeping wherever-- not in rooms, I mean. I don't know if anyone is still sleeping in random observatories or hallways, but it's something to note. The actual rooms are a fairly recent addition.

Architect
It is a massive relief to hear that we have an Architect now. While my species does hold architecture as culturally important, it is still wonderful to have an trained one on base. My name is Kanaya Maryam and if there is anything I can do to assist you, then let me know.
[Seriously, we need leadership around base.]

[ She doesn't sound shocked or surprised but it's nice to know who, or what, she's speaking to. ]
If you would be interested in helping me rearrange things, I'm absolutely going to need the manpower. Or womanpower, in this case.

There are three of us here. Me, Karkat, and Feferi. We are Trolls, although Feferi is a Sea Troll and I am a Rainbow Drinker.
