[It's a new year! Well, by the fragile construct of calendar time we're creating on this planet, anyway.

Here's a an open mingle for all your January needs! Are you trying to stalk our new alien stalkers back, or reach out to them, or fight them? Building? Exploring the biomes, for fun and/or to uncover more about our alien friends? Researching? Hugging URSULA? Raising Birdogs or getting involved with other wildlife? Making or breaking resolutions? I'll keep that in mind... [ That's such a nice offer but also he's shy and also that sounds exhausting. But he appreciates it!!! ]

Sure. That would be nice. [ Kenma heads to the other side of the net, also completely ready to get owned. It's hard to play without a team, and he doesn't really even play particularly offensive roles. If anything, he'll mostly just be able to successfully pass to Kon over the net. ]

That's definitely enough to keep you busy.

[For now, he flags the idea of getting her take on the others' findings as something to follow up on later.]

You know, I think I forgot to get your name. I'm Takeru Takaishi.

[hatamon]

[Takeru and Patamon both stare as she explains, and it's only thanks to being familiar with the Digital World's brand of non-logic that they can sort of follow along. The look they exchange makes it clear they'll probably run off to mess with the tree like idiots as soon as they're done here.]

Seriously? I guess I shouldn't be surprised it's something like that. The more I learn about this place the weirder it all sounds.

[Patamon goes back to investigating the items and finds a pair of glasses to slip on. Takeru, meanwhile, keeps his focus on Kanaya and readies the pillow for stuffing.]

[hatamon]

[Patamon flies in closer, practically radiating excitement. It takes pretty much all of his self-restraint to not tear into the food before they even set out.]

She made dessert too!

[Takeru mostly tunes out his partner's antics and nods to Ada, ready to follow her lead. There's something familiar in the way she talks about her sister, and his smile grows warmer as he listens.]

You're the oldest, right?

[He has A Feeling.]

[aspearing]

It does. It makes you all the more kinder.

[ She doesn't want to be selfish and take advantage of their gratitude. ]

... I'm not entirely sure that we can negotiate with the dragon at this point, but I also believe that we shouldn't give up in attempting to create a peaceful end to our current predicament.

[lightbulbvampire]

Of course.

[Kanaya smiles gently. He'll have a social life yet.]

Aside from socializing, have you found anything that has piqued your interest? You don't have to venture outside to contribute to our continued survival.

[There is always, farming, science, and other stuff.]

It washed up along with numerous other items and thing from other peoples worlds last year. From what I've gathered, it's from Nagito and Hinata's world.

[Kanaya opens up the bag of stuffing and pulls a large clump of fluff out to hand to Takeru.]

If you are interested in literature from my world, I donated my collection of books that washed up to the library. I kept my sewing machine though, as you can see.

[I hope you two like Troll!Twilight, as she has the whole series. There's a few outliers sure, but it's mostly rainbowdrinker(alternian vampire) novels.]

[she still does need prompting sometimes to give her name - it's the comfort and familiarity of this base seeping into her. the way these beings are not so startled by stranger approaching them.]

Do you require any other assistance once this task is complete?

I'd like to get some more reading in. There's a lot of popular culture that I'm still picking up on, and I don't remember all of it unless it's brought up in conversation. I'd also like to take the time to explore a little bit more and see if we can find any more of those alien bases. It's not quite the same as exploring ruins, but it has a similar feeling, and it's a lot of fun.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

[He's more for caution than speed in cases like this, especially when it comes to uncharted areas. New areas are where they tend to meet unfriendly creatures.]

I'll pull something together and let you know when we're ready, how's that?

It's prehistoric. [ It's not like the Silver Millennium is written about in the history books. ]

Oh. [ Hotaru laughs, and she points at herself. ] It's for me. There's a claw machine on the Narcissus, and I like bunnies. It'll make my room homier.

[ Some 13 year olds may say they're too old for stuffed animals, but Hotaru is not one of them.

[hatamon]

[He's going to read them and be so, so confused.

Takeru takes the stuffing and goes about filling the pillow in a mechanical sort of process, too fascinated by listening to Kanaya to give anything else much attention.]

That's the first I've heard about anything from our worlds showing up. Did anyone figure out how it happened?

[From a magic tree to books to a sewing machine... it doesn't sound like any sort of pattern.]

I think I should be the one asking that. I owe you one for doing this for me.

[guidance]

[she pauses, and then bows her head a little.]

I do not require assistance, or favors owed to me for my aid. It is simply what I have been created to do.

[hatamon]

Created?

[It's an impulsive question, and he immediately realizes it's probably too invasive.]

It's not about obligation or anything. I'd just like to be able to do something to thank you.

[lightbulbvampire]

Ah.... now that I think about it, no. I do not believe we looked into it. A significant amount of us had fallen ill with Jelly Shroom Flu and the hurricane that brought the items here wrecked some of the base. I arrived that month, so I wasn't as well integrated as I am now into its inner workings, so to speak.

[She muses this out loud as she supervises the stuffing.]

[splasher]

[makoto's... already got the controllers in hand. a kind smile, but sharp words;]

Just because we just met doesn't mean I'll go easy on you.

[sparkle]

Same to you.

[ well okay admittedly this will be his first time playing this particular game, but still!! The biggest obstacle is figuring out when, exactly, to start accelerating during the count-down! ]

[ The way Hotaru views it, the rest of her life should be spent showing her gratitude to the people who've helped her. ]

Maybe we can find a bargaining chip to get the dragon to listen to us instead of stubbornly telling us we don't belong. We're not native, but we're not harming this planet. Not intentionally, at least. None of the people I've talked to have said they wanted to fight as a solution.

[ He's kind of been twiddling his metaphorical thumbs sitting around so it might be good to go out in a productive manner. ]

[hatamon]

[Serious sickness and a hurricane damaging the base is news to him too, and when he nods his expression shifts from surprised to a bit more somber.]

In that case I see why that stuff wasn't anyone's priority. I've really missed a lot.

[Once the pillow looks full enough to him he gives it one more shake to settle the stuffing and holds it up for Kanaya's approval.]

[guidance]

Your words are sufficient.

[she means it when she says it. being thanked wasn't even something she was used to still. it was still something that needed time. but being the odd existence she was, the idea of someone doing something for her for thanks wasn't quite there yet.]

But to answer your question, yes. I was created.

[aspearing]

... A bargaining chip would be a rather good idea, but... Do you have an idea in mind of what we could use?

[puddinghair]

Someone showed me the game room, so now... [ he nods to the console she brought over. ] I'm pretty set.

[tofuinmymouth]

[ Knowing that she has at least calmed down, Beast Boy slowly comes forward. There is still caution in his actions, which shows in his face. Despite that, he softly smiles. ]

Nothing to apologize for, Rae.

[ He takes another step forward. ]

I know you're all about being by yourself and stuff, but uh... I'm here if you want some company.
