[ It's late at night, and whether you're already asleep, or about to sleep, your peaceful night is being interrupted by two childish children who want to tell a scary story. Mao's woken his best bro Tytree up for this specific purpose, and it's totally worth it, okay. Being all the way down here in such a dark, mysterious ocean — how could anyone pass up this opportunity?

Thus, loudly and clearly, so he can get your attention: ]

Hey, hey! It sure is creepy down here, right?

[For a change, Stork is trying to sleep -- sort of. He hasn't had much luck yet, so he's just doing some bedtime reading. Doesn't that look... soothing...

He looks up from the book to regard the kids apathetically.]

Really? I hadn't noticed.

[ Nope, not soothing at all ... Mao can't tell if that's some sort of weird monster skull on the front or what. But whatever, even if this guy seems relatively creepy himself, Mao will try to out-creep him. ]

You hadn't? But you seem like the kinda guy who'd notice that quick! Especially with all those weird sounds down the hall.

[ Is he complimenting him or making fun of him? (The latter.) But he'll try to spook him anyway, of course. ]

[Well, that's fair. He is the kind of guy who would notice. Stork does suspect that he's being made fun of, but he also doesn't care enough to be especially offended by it. Whatever, kid. This place terrifies him, but that has nothing to do with its spooky vibe -- honestly, if he weren't trapped here, it would be nice.

Strange and mysterious noises, however, are always worth his attention -- even if that describes most of the noises around here. He'll bite.]

Slithering? Are you sure that's not just Korosensei?

[ He can't help how blunt he is, okay. (Well ... he can, he just chooses not to.) ]

No way! It's gotta be a lot bigger! More fearsome, too! Like ... a giant snake fish! With a million teeth!

[ Makes ....... sense ....... ]

Yeah, there's no way it's Korosensei, this thing's way more ominous! Like, you just feel that chill creepin' down your spine if you get a good look at it. Like it'd turn ya to stone if you looked right at it.

[In spite of himself, Stork shudders at Mao's description, his left eye giving a little twitch. Not because the kid is doing a particularly good job -- he's... he's really not -- but because the merb is fairly certain he's actually seen something fitting that (admittedly vague) description before. He's mostly blocked it out, but he feels sure it happened. It wasn't on this world, but who's to say it couldn't have followed him here, the same way the rest of them arrived?

But, that alarming possibility aside, he's pretty sure that if anything these two are saying is true it's only by coincidence. Probably. Tytree's input isn't quite as chilling.]

So you didn't look right at it? Or is petrification a time-release thing.
