Cooking Competition | Open Mingle

[ Now that the kitchen is back together and the food is secure what is a better way to celebrate getting this far than a little friendly cooking competition. And to make things more interesting it's even costumed! But the best part? One of your judges is none other than URSULA herself give her a round of applause! Everyone is a winner according to her!

So, are you one of the Judges, going around and tasting everyone's cooking? Maybe you're like URSULA and believes everyone's cooking is great! Or will you be that judge who's blunt and said how it is. Maybe you just want to say everyone's cooking is awful for the hell of it.

If you're not judging the competition maybe you're Cooking in the competition instead! This was a free-for-all, so you were able to use any of the ingredients that they currently have on base. Will you be making a fantastic meal that everyone loves, or will you be one of the ones where the Fire Extinguishers have to come and save the base from burning.

Just remember that you're required to make a costume! And speaking of which, be sure to give your Costume Designers a nice thanks! Even if you end up getting extra frills in your outfit. Or something really bright so you end up blinding everyone.

There's so much to do here in this competition so have fun! Once it's all said and done everyone even gets a nice Personalized Blanket from URSULA. What a nice thank from our favorite AI!

To help there are several top-levels to respond to rather than people creating their own prompts. People are still welcome to make their own top-levels but hopefully this makes things a little easier. ]

Um… Allez Cuisine…

[ of course roderic is going to be part of the competition that involved him cooking food for other people to eat. what could go wrong?

besides terrible things possibly happening to the taster's stomach but eeeeey.

roderic had tried to make something he saw lia make back home: buletten. basically german's answer to hamburgers. or the nearest equivalent of what he could make here. the plate of cooked meat certainly looked like meat and he had cooked them to the best of what he recalled lia doing. heck, he had even remembered to season them proper before putting them in the pan.

now roderic is just going to stand here, looking confident as he can despite him constantly tugging on the frills of his sleeves. they're… fun to fiddle with, okay? leave him be. ]

[ D.Va here's only a spectator, possessing no real cooking ability whatsoever and only here to admire (and...eat...) the food. She's drawn to the buletten first, peering at it and trying really!! Hard!! Not to take a bite for herself. ]

Ooh, are these hamburgers? They smell delicious.

[ It's a very simple dish but it's meat, so ]

[ roderic here is surprised and its obvious with how his eyes widen and his jaw drops open in surprise. someone thinks his cooking is delicious? holy-

calm down, pyre. calm down. ]

I mean- Yeah. They are. They can be eaten with some dips I made too. [ he gestures to the little bowls and now is when roderic's cooking skills come into questions. the dips that look strange… mostly due to the colouring but it could be attributed to the plant life here?

Um- Do you want to try? [ he thinks there's enough for the spectators and the judges. ]

Seriously? Heck yeah, I wanna try some!

[ D.Va hasn't had real food here in a while, other than Rin's stir fry. While she's mostly accustomed to Korean cuisine, human food is human food, and she's usually pretty open to trying new things.

But she has to ask about the dips...because what are those colors, even. Not that she thinks he's trying to poison her or anything, but?? ]

Uh, what's in the dip?

[ and here is where he looks a bit flustered. he looks at the dip and rubs the back of his neck, cheeks turning to a bright red colour as he tries to explain that because

yeah. ]

Well that one is supposed to be a mixture of ketchup and mayo and that one is just supposed to be plain ketchup.

[ why is the ketchup one the colour of neon orange though. ]

Um- I tasted them before serving of course. They're alright.

[ because after all he's still standing. that counts? it has to? ]

[if there was food at Ruby's station, it doesn't exactly exist anymore. for a few seconds, a column of fire flares up from her pan; she freezes for a moment more before rushing over to the nearest fire extinguisher and spraying the would-be disaster. once the smoke clears, this is what's left.

all she can do is laugh weakly and flail a little, trying her best to play it cool, when it is actually the complete opposite.]

It's, uh... fish flambé! With a foam finish! [she gives a brief coughing fit, darn smoke.] Try saying that five times fast.

[Like a good costumed judge, Sorey is poking around the contestants area to inspect their food. A good judge doesn't just sit at the table! They get up close and personal! I hope you didn't need that personal space.]

[ if you're making the costumes let us know what they would be giving people. do we have a group of people with extra extra frills? or maybe something just really bland (hope not. we have that fabricator for a reason!)

give the competitors their costumes. or even judges why can't they be costumed too. ]

[ anything hajime made for anyone is extremely bright. she is all about loud colors, okay, and designs!! so expect lots of stripes and hearts and things that people who are not 17 year old girls would probably not choose to wear.

I have no idea! But we're all from different cultures, so I'm sure it has to be a thing somewhere.

Re: COSTUMES

[Kanaya's outfits are simple yet elegant, usually consisting of two colors and a pattern, each with a constellation sign on them. There's a few odd ones out of course, but nothing garish like Hajime's. Speaking of Hajime, Kanaya is very pointedly not looking at anything she's made, except to occasionally give her the stink-eye.]

[Ruby, for one, is extremely thankful that not all trolls are as offensive as Karkat. her costume consists of a red dress with black trim—the inverse of her usual outfit—and a Leo sign. she's currently checking herself out now that she's changed, looking surprisingly pleased with everything.]

I usually don't do fancy clothes... but this is super cool! Thanks a bunch—Kanaya, right?

POST-COOKING

[ cooking is done. everyone is fed. a few fires have probably been put out. the end result? blankets! everyone got a wonderful blanket through all this thanks to URSULA. Does your character cry from what's imprinted on it? Or show it off?

maybe they'll just lay down on the floor and start sleeping with it. who knows. ]
