Arrival: For Korra

[Kon wakes up the second his body hits the water and it takes him entirely too long to process the fact that yes, he is now somehow submerged in a body of water, and no, he had not been flying over a body of water at all. This is what he gets for flying into swirly vortexes in the sky instead of calling for back up. It is not the first time he's woken up without a clue as to how he got somewhere and it won't be the last, but that doesn't make it any less disconcerting. Even more disconcerting however is that he is just realizing that he is not alone in the water. That is definitely an elbow pressing into his stomach and a knee digging into his side. He blinks stupidly for a second and attempts to disentangle himself from the person (girl???) he'd apparently run into when something else in the water catches his eye.

Something large and not at all man made and heading right towards them and—NO THANK YOU. Kon has seen this movie and he is out of the water and hovering in the air so fast he doesn't even have time to say hello to the (definitely a) girl in his arms who he takes with him without a thought. Chivalry is not leaving ladies behind to be eaten by giant...things.]

What'd, I fall asleep and crash into the set of Jaws 5?!


Base: Open to all (video)

-at is this, like some fancy gadget Robin would—oh hey, is it on? [A face leans into the camera giving everyone a very nice view of a teenage boy with one very stylish fadecut and (one) pierced ear looking like he just walked out of a nineties music video. He steps back when he's sure it's on, eyebrows furrowed for a second before his expression slips into a searching frown.]

Okay so, seeing as there are giant living moving tentacled rock monsters in the ocean, I'm guessing I'm not in Kansas anymore. [Kon's hilarious and would explain the joke to everyone if it wouldn't completely out Superman's identity. Clark ruins all of his fun.] Does anyone know exactly what planet we're on? And what's the deal with this Ursula chick because if she's anything like the one with the tentacles from the movie, I'm not really feeling the trusting her thing. Why does everything here have tentacles...?

I've got about a million questions about what the hell's going on here. Anyone care to fill me in?

Giant sea-fairing hamsters hotel? [There's a startling similarity alright. Kon shrugs.]

I don't know, but it looks like it was built by something sentient, probably people sized. [The word is humanoid Kon. Learn vocabulary.]

I think the better question is why build down here? And where is here exactly? Starting to get the feeling we're a lot farther from home than I thought.

Good question. [The air bubble circles around the structure slowly. Uneasily, Korra turns to Kon.]

I get that feeling, too. I thought this was the Spirit World, but... the spirits wouldn't need to build a place like this.

[Kon shrugs.]

Might as well go inside and find out, right? See an entrance anywhere?

[braavado]

Not yet... [Korra squints at the glass base until something catches her eye.]

Wait. [One finger points at the circular opening just a little ways down.] I think that might be it.

[He narrows his eyes and nods in agreement.]

Let's go check it out. [Once they're close enough it's easy to see that is it in fact the entrance and it doesn't take long for the two of them to figure out how to get inside. One swipe of TTK over his body leaves Kon completely dry, standing in a puddle on the floor.]

Huh, definitely not the sort of thing I was expecting. [Mostly because he was expecting enemies probably with guns pointed their way as soon as they entered.]

[braavado]

[With a practiced flick of her hand, Korra strips the excess moisture from her clothes and hair, though she keeps her eyes on the hallway the entire time.]

It's so quiet in here. [She takes a couple steps forward, hands raised in case she needs to bend in a hurry.]

Creepy quiet. [He agrees and moves forward with the same sort of cautious approach, one eye on Korra just in case a bunch of guys with guns do show up and he needs to throw up a quick TTK field. Though honestly, he has a feeling she doesn't need the help. When things are less super creepy and tense, he's gotta ask her about what her powers are exactly.

When nothing jumps out at them for a while, Kon frowns.] You'd think the bad guys would have shown up by now.

[braavado]

[As if on cue, a whirring sound reaches them, making Korra instinctively drop into a lower, fighting stance. But rather than an enemy, it's a drone that comes around the turn and stops before them. It drops two newbie packs in front of them and sings out a welcome in its tinny robot voice.

Korra nudges at one of the packs with her foot.]

Looks like they were expecting us.

[checkoutmyttk]

[Kon completely bypasses the packs and goes straight for the drone, staring at it with growing suspicion as he attempts to pick it up.]

The question is who are 'they?' And what is this thing? [The drone makes an odd chirping singing sound that Kon would swear sounds happy and he sets it back down only for it to start off in another direction.]

This whole not knowing anything deal is getting old fast. You'd think whoever did this would at least care enough to come and attack us or whatever.

[braavado]

Well, they did leave these behind. Maybe we'll find some answers in these bags.

[Korra's already pulling hers open and peering in and its contents.] Huh. It looks like a bracelet of some kind. [The "bracelet" sits in her palm as she holds it up for Kon to examine.] There's some goggles and a body suit in here, too.

[checkoutmyttk]

[He moves back to the bag and begins investigating his own. The goggles will be helpful later, so that's a good thing. The body suit possibly as well. When korra mentions the bracelet, Kon pulls his out to examine it.]

What do you think it's for?

[braavado]

Dunno. Might be-- [A woman's voice, coming from the devices, cuts her off.

As URSULA launches into the usual welcome spiel, Korra mutters to Kon.]

Maybe we'll actually get some answers from her.
