1 | Farm

[Jade isn't sure what she was expecting from the new universe, but pumpkins were not it. The underwater dome is also kind of a shock. What's bothering her more than any of that, though, is that she appears to be alone. Again.

Jade extracts herself from the pumpkin patch and begins to poke around. Things feel weird here - she can't feel out everything with her space powers like she used to, or at least not the to same extent. She can feel out most of the farm area, but beyond that... nothing. Is this what it means to be out of the Medium, finally? She begins to float around idly, taking everything in. There's a lot of different kinds of plants here, so at least she doesn't need to worry about starving. But who set all of this up?

Jade cups her hands around her mouth and calls out:]

Hello? Is anybody here? I like your plants!

2 | Base

[Eventually, Jade finds her way to the base through use of the underground tunnel and a little bit of teleportation along the way. She's a little tired after all of that, but her curiosity far outweighs any exhaustion.

Anybody who happens across her will find a teenage girl with fluffy white dog ears floating a couple of inches above the ground, her "Fun Survival Pack" clutched to her chest, mumbling and unended stream of questions to herself as she takes everything in. She may not be entirely paying attention to where she's going.]

How did all of this end up in the new universe? Is this just Sburb trying to give us a headstart in colonizing the new world? Why is there all this water here? And what happened to- oof!

[Guess who just floated into a wall. Maybe offer the new girl some help?]

[ dave spends a lot of time at the farm. dirk built him that weeding bot and all, but it's kind of calming to be at the farm and he can use calming right now. since certain people are mia...

that said, jade's voice absolutely makes him trip over the root of one of the apple trees. they've only spoken in person a handful of times, but she's one of his best friends.

it's entirely possible he finally fell asleep or something, here. ]

...Harley?

[Jade's ears swivel as soon as she hears Dave's voice, and before she can even think about it, she teleports over to him. A wave of relief immediately washes over her - she's not alone again.]

Dave! You're here, too. That's great!

[She's vibrating with an odd sort of energy, not sure if she should go in for a hug or a handshake or what - in person interactions are still hard to parse for her. She holds back for now, just in case.]

I'm wondering where all of these plants came from, though. Did Sburb give them to us for free? Do you know?

[ honestly, dave's used to people getting in his personal space by now. kind of. it's been about half a year since he got here, and...well, he's got the hug thing down pat enough if he and rose were never exactly huggers.

he's kind of not sure how to initiate it with jade, though, so he laughs a little awkwardly. ]

Actually? I kinda planted them. Then. You know, sped them up. Holy shit, this would've been so much easier with you? Like, I said that, back then - uh. About that - what's the last thing you remember? Official time player business.

[Oh god, there's time shit again. And by the sounds of things, there's been a stretch of time where Jade hasn't been here and the rest have, meaning that she's been completely useless to help her friends. Again.

How frustrating! She'll have to make up for it by working double-time, once she figures out what it is she needs to work on.]

I remember going through the door with everyone else! Did you get here before me somehow?

It'll be half a year soon.

[ but, yeah. a sad-looking harley is the worst variety? dave will try to initiate the hug now. a hug was always going to occur, anyway.

also, it's nice that even if karkat is god knows where, they've got the last of his friends here. well. his original three friends? ]

Rose and John are gonna be so pumped you're here, shit.

Half a year!?

[Jade tries not to be too boggled by this, and instead just focus on reciprocating the hug. Hugs are more important, right? She wraps her arms around Dave and squeezes, hoping she's not overdoing it.

(Being able to touch other people is still so strange.)

Still, for all of the hug-focusing she's doing, Jade is still pretty boggled by the fact she just hasn't been here for six months.]

What all have I missed? Is everybody else here already? Are they all okay?

Rose and John are, and my bro and Roxy, and Jake. And then Kanaya and Feferi.

[ dave doesn't seem to mind about the squeezing at least? actually it's kind of. nice. to hug someone. because he's actually technically frazzled about the following fact: ]

Karkat's here, too, but he's on a mission off-base and hasn't checked back in a bit.

[Jade does a mental tally in her head of everyone who was around when the door to the new universe was open. That's almost everyone, but there are a few notable exceptions - at least she's not the last person to show up.]

A mission? What sort of mission? And wait, how is Feferi here? I thought she was...

[Dead. Then again, life and death have a different meaning in a game like Sburb. Her being here isn't that big of an impossibility.]

Yeah, people around here? Can be from different timelines. Mom didn't match up with us for a while, but then she like, slept for a while and did or something? And, uh, not everyone is even from our universe. And not even from the universe we made, we've got a straight up teenage mutant ninja turtle runnin' around.

[ like. for realsies. ]

As to the mission, it sounded pretty routine. He went with the new head of security and one of our space cases, was supposed to be back a while ago.

[Jade supposes she can accept that. After all, the trolls are from a different universe, too. This still seems within the range of possible Sburb mechanics. Right now, it's the mission that's bothering her.]

But what kind of mission was it? And why are we going on missions to begin with? I thought that we'd finally have a chance to just... Have fun. Now that we've won.

Oh, just a scouting one. Uh - you can have fun, I mean - basically, this base? I mean. Okay. We're at the farm - do you want to see the base? I can show you where we bunk and shit. Uh, not that we have rooms. I mean, John and Jake and Karkat do, and Feferi...might? I don't know what she does. Kanaya has one. But Rose and Mom and Dirk and I all bunk in the Magister's observatory - shit you have to meet the Magister, you're like, his aunt or something.

[ dave. get to the point. ]

But anyway URSULA is the AI who runs the base and she like, wants us to terraform shit and also do other missions as needed. But they don't have to be like. Super missiony. Like, we had a mission to figure out how to make cheese pizza last month I think?

[Jade maybe only gets half of what Dave was trying to tell her in that first bit, but that's okay. She'll figure it out later, probably. ]

Pizza sounds like a fun mission, at least! Were you guys successful? I have never had pizza before.

Uh, I actually do not know. Not yet I think? But. I have been experimenting with cake, if you're hungry?

[ he's not terrible at cooking, so it's. edible. ]

Well... I'd rather try something new. And Nannasprite made me plenty of cake on the ship.

[Her face takes on a somewhat haunted expression. There are only so many baked goods one girl can take.]

What sort of other things do you guys eat here?

I can make you a sandwich? We eat, like. Lots of seafood, obviously, but also stuff from the farm. Whatever you can make of the things you find?

[ he takes her elbow and leads her towards the tunnel leading back to base. she probably would prefer that to an impromptu swim. ]

Gotta say that you are missin' out on my sweet moves, though.

[Jade allows herself to be elbow-guided to the tunnel, figuring that Dave wouldn't lead her astray. The food sounds a lot like what she was used to back on the island, at least, with the addition of seafood. Then again, her new doggy nutritional needs probably can't survive on an entirely vegetarian diet like she used to.]

What kind of sweet moves are those? Sweet cake moves?

Obviously sweet cake moves. Or sweet pie moves? I have mastered the art of apple pie, jsyk.

[ yeah he. says. acronyms out loud. and he is definitely not leading her astray! just leading her straight to the base, and then the kitchen. ]

But I also am a sandwich ninja, so you're in excellent hands here.

[Jade doesn't even question the acronym usage. Who is she to know what normal speech patterns are like? The only people she's talked to in the last three years are a cat princess ghost and an old jester woman.]

Well... I could probably try some apple pie! Nanna didn't make as many of those. Though a sandwich sounds faster, especially if you are a sandwich ninja!

...How do you even become a sandwich ninja?

Years and years of training. What's your fave type of sandwich, btw?

[ he will cater to that, to the best of the supplies abilities. ]

[Jade ponders this for a moment.]

You know... I don't think I've ever had a sandwich! Surprise me!

I think we'll go classic, then - you're not allergic to anything, right?

Not that I know of! Oh, I do get a little sick if I eat too much chocolate... but chocolate sandwiches aren't standard, are they?
