Well just being in the kitchen for the majority of the time here I've come across some strange animals, certainly. And considering this is the sea I can only imagine there are more at large we're not even aware of.

[ She nods her head before responding. ]

Well I say that, but I've been here for over a month now... but it was only recently that I left the underwater base.

But he's so tiny, certainly he must not eat too much? [ Where would it all go? ]

I'm fine, there's no need for you to concern yourself over my well-being. I know of my limits and will take a break when necessary.

[ Kenma's eyes dart up to his hand, then back to his game with so little expression that it almost seems like he plans to ignore him. But after that awkward beat, he's at a better place to pause his game, and reaches up to shake Kirishima's hand. ]

[ oh no now he's never going to be of any use on missions. he will be busy. always. ]

I'm kind of surprised there's something like this. Doesn't it stifle productivity?

Do you get paid to be a superhero? How will you make a living if you don't finish school? [ look he was kind of excited to talk about volleyball and all, but this is a pressing question. ]

Fabricator...? Does it always make, um, monstrosities? [ because if not, couldn't everyone just make instant-clothes? and doesn't that negate the need for sewing?? not that he isn't grateful. ]

I'm, um... [ hrm. he shifts his weight uncomfortably. He's not great on the socializing front, but it's uncomfortable to admit that he's mostly just been keeping to himself. ]

[the pages are blank. do they fill under some sort of condition? is her power hidden there? questions, so many, but Fi knows that inquiring after too much is not the way to do things.]

I've been entertaining the idea of flinging it into the volcano. I will likely keep the frame though, as that would be a waste of a perfectly good frame.

[ well- ada can feel eve's happiness that someone has taken a clear interest in her cooking. she opens one of the lunches for patamon so he can inspect better, consisting of what appears to be a cooked rice meal and baked sweets for dessert.

it's easy to tell that eve has a sense of humor at least. given the little smiley faces that were drawn on the sweets, made with frosting. ]

She was ill before we arrived here. [ lately, eve has been rather persnickety if she tried using 'she's ill' excuse for some reason. so ada tries to get around that with a technical truth. ] She may not be in the best of shape since we arrived here and I don't want her to get hurt.

But. She does say hello and she hopes we'll all be well during the trip. She's thankful you and your friend are accompanying me.

No. It just seems that a large majority of this base lacks any sense of fashion.

[She's seriously considered breaking the thing, but it's been useful despite her disdain for it. She has a love hate relationship with it.... she's not jealous. She smiles understandingly at his fidgeting.]

I know a few people who you might be able to get along with. Have you met Roxy Lalonde yet?

[Roxy will finally have someone to appreciate video games with her.... though you run the risk of being adopted by the Homestucks and/or Striderlonde clan.]

They do have a name for their species. [ and it's a very nice name. a lovely name. a mature name that's appropriate for them- ] They're the Squigglefishes!

...... really. maybe 'daniels' wasn't too bad of an idea, dirk. ] URSULA gave them that name and it seems fitting for them, don't you think?

[ he's in the 'whatever is comfortable' camp, himself. thank god for school uniforms so that he doesn't even have to think about it much. ]

[ Even though he appreciates the sentiment and thinks it's sweet, it's also a little scary. What if she's wrong and they don't get along? He does his best to ignore the feeling. ] That's... Nice of you. I haven't met them, no.

Roxy is a friend of mine who also enjoys video games. She is quite easy to get along with, so I doubt you will have any problems there.

[ Also the type who will drag Kenma out of his room to SOCIALIZE. Not that she's going to tell him that.]

Though she may be better known as one of the coders maintaining URSULA or as the one responsible for the massive mutated cat population on base.

[ Okay, so maybe she sounded angrier than she intended. In fact, she did not mean to sound angry at all— call it a knee-jerk reaction to emotions. She is feeling So Much emotion lately, none of it good from her perspective, and Beast Boy is... well, he's the reason, isn't he?

Still... none of this is his fault. She knows this. Taking a deep breath, she repeats her response, this time much softer: ]

They're searching for something. They're scouting for something. That much is clear. The problem is figuring out what that something is. I know others have some theories.

Nah dude, I wish. I used to have a manager who figured out all that stuff for me but these days I just work for this agency that makes sure I eat and all that. [They take care of him and he gets an allowance.]

But it's not like I'm ever gonna do anything but be a superhero, that's what I was created to do. No way I'm gonna waste time in some classroom when I could be out saving the day!

What about when you're old? How will you have savings to retire off of? [ are you immune to aging????? ]
