[ Raven's not bothered by things that go bump in the night. (Okay, that's a lie. There was that one time during movie night at the tower where she totally got spooked by imaginary boogeymen and her fear manifested itself as actual real monsters that almost killed everyone? But that was one time.)

So maybe she's bothered by scary things sometimes, big deal. Just because you're the spawn of Satan doesn't mean you can't be afraid of things that are legitimately scary. Especially when the object of your fears are alien creatures straight out of a scary movie that give you bad vibes no matter which way you look at them-- when you can look at them. The fact that they vanish before she can get a lock on them is what creeps her out the most about them, to be honest.

She's given up trying to catch one, and is instead searching the library (books + databases) for any information she might find on them. So far no luck, like with everything else of import on this stupid shitty planet. She's really beginning to hate it here. At least Trigon's cooled his jets a bit. It's not easy to explain her birthmark when it activates around others unexpectedly. One less thing to worry about while they prepare for imminent alien takeover, she supposes. ]

Ugh, why is this place such a mess?!

[ A rare and dangerous outburst from one demi-demon, complete with glowy red eyes and eldritch screeching, causing the lights in the library to flicker. She's just really tired of cleaning up after others, even if no one asked her to assume the role of librarian. You couldn't even call the place a real library as it is, being as how it was mostly print outs of digital documents that were much easier to peruse on electronic devices. But Raven knows the place just needs a little TLC, which is why she has taken it upon herself to tidy it up and organize it better. And implement a checkout system, because Komaeda's a jerk who ruins everything for everyone.

When the lights are done freaking out around her, she sighs. Gotta keep it together. The last thing they need is her shorting the life support systems or something because she can't control her damn emotions. ]

[and with the lights flickering and her eldritch screeching, there's a yelp somewhere further down into the library.]

[here was makoto, trying to grab a few books to read before heading back into the island for safety. it's a miracle he isn't paralyzed with fear as he scrambles from behind a couple of bookshelves.]

U-Uh...

[this is the worst...ever.]

[ Oh jeez, she didn't mean to-- she looks shocked for a second while the lights continue to flicker. Forcing herself to relax, Raven reels in her emotions quickly, which turns the lights back to normal at least. Unfortunately the real damage is done.

Trying to look as non-threatening as possible, she pulls her hood down. She looks pretty guilty. ]

Sorry. Didn't know anyone was there. Are you here to check out a book?

[splasher]

[at least she seems pretty polite and composed despite the nightmare fuel he just witnessed]

...yeah. I meant to check out a few books...? Uh, is a system really needed, here?

[grimorium]

[ She is doing her best. For now, as long as he's okay with it, she is just going to pretend nothing happened. ]

When people "borrow" books, and don't return them? [ coughKOMAEDAcough-- but there's more to it than that, she thinks. When she's not brooding, she's meditating, and when she's not meditating, she's brooding. The library is the only place where she can feel somewhat "normal" here. ]

It... also gives me something to do.

[ To be entirely honest? Beast Boy has been sort of... Purposefully keeping his distance from Raven since the whole fiasco at the ferris wheel. And it hasn't really done much for him either, considering she's his closest friend in this dome-thingy. And not a single day has passed since that uh... ]

[ Really steamy kiss. That's the best way he can put it. It's easy to drown himself in the crap going on with these horrifying creatures lurking in the corners. But it's only managed to make him worry more about his friend. Not that Raven can't handle herself or anything, but he cares. A lot. ]

[ He's aware that, like him to the observatory he's made a little sleep corner in, Raven spends a lot of her time in the library. So he gets there, and the timing couldn't have been any worse. ]

[ Beast Boy shivers at the familiar screeching-sounds that follow the release of dark, Eldritch-like outburst form basically the spawn of Satan. She's pissed. But she's here. Beast Boy hides behind a bookshelf as he waits out the flickering of the lights as a signal of her having calmed down a bit. ]

Uh...

You okay, Rae?

[grimorium]

I'm fine.

[ Okay, so maybe she sounded angrier than she intended. In fact, she did not mean to sound angry at all— call it a knee-jerk reaction to emotions. She is feeling So Much emotion lately, none of it good from her perspective, and Beast Boy is... well, he's the reason, isn't he?

Still... none of this is his fault. She knows this. Taking a deep breath, she repeats her response, this time much softer: ]

I'm fine. Sorry.

[tofuinmymouth]

[ Knowing that she has at least calmed down, Beast Boy slowly comes forward. There is still caution in his actions, which shows in his face. Despite that, he softly smiles. ]

Nothing to apologize for, Rae.

[ He takes another step forward. ]

I know you're all about being by yourself and stuff, but uh... I'm here if you want some company.

[grimorium]

[ Raven tenses when he takes a step forward. It's not that she doesn't want his company-- she wants his company pretty badly-- but his company also means feelings that she doesn't want to deal with. She knows she can't run from them forever, she just... she keeps telling herself she needs more and more time. Truth is, she's terrified of these emotions. ]

I haven't forgotten.

[ She doesn't meant to sound so blasé about it, this is just how she is? ]

Is that all you came here for?

[tofuinmymouth]

[ He stops, head tilted as he looks a bit confused by her statement. And it's not that he hasn't thought about what happened, it's that it's just... They haven't been talking much. And he can't help but wonder if he screwed up their friendship. ]

[ So he deflates, a little bit, quick to shake his head and wave his hands in front of him in denial. ]

No, no! I mean-- Yeah, I wanted to just check up on you but.

It wasn't to talk about what happened or why we stopped... Talking. Kinda was, just.

[ He exhales. ]

I can leave, if you want.

[grimorium]

[ So that's why he's upset-- because they stopped talking. Knowing that is the only expectation he has makes this a little bit easier. ]

Actually, do you want to help me put these books away?

[ "Don't leave." ]

[ He stops, still looking confused as ever. Raven asks him to stay, and it comes to his attention that she isn't angry at him. Knowing that she wants him to stick around has his nerves washing away, a smile coming to his face. ]

Oh.

[ He nods. ]
