[It's a new year! Well, by the fragile construct of calendar time we're creating on this planet, anyway.

Here's a an open mingle for all your January needs! Are you trying to stalk our new alien stalkers back, or reach out to them, or fight them? Building? [Patamon is a little confused by humans' fixation with petting him, but he smiles and seems to enjoy the attention all the same.

Takeru's opinion of Makoto shoots up about 500 points for being nice to his partner. The decision to not keep Patamon hidden here had been an impulsive one, but it seems like it was the right call.]

We're a team, so I'd be no good without him. What about you--are any of your friends here?

[splasher]

A team...

[he likes the sound of that. he smiles bigger at patamon once he gets a smile back (!), and then returns his attention to the other boy.]

A friend of mine from Iwatobi is here, yeah. It's not that difficult to get to know the people here though. --sorry, I'm just so curious. [he keeps glancing back at patamon; this novel and interesting thing] What 'world' is it?

[hatamon]

[Patamon and Takeru exchange a look, but there's no real reason to not answer honestly.]

It's called the Digital World. It's connected to ours, similar to how I assume this place is.

There are all kinds of digimon there! [Patamon swoops around in a circle for dramatic emphasis.]

Yeah, they don't all look like Patamon. It's hard to describe without seeing it for yourself.

[splasher]

[makoto wishes he could, honestly]

[but something about what takeru says catches his attention]

Do you think that... this is kind of a parallel universe to our own?

[hatamon]

Sure. [It's said with easy confidence, like there's no need to consider alternatives.]

There are all kinds of worlds out there, right? Linked together in ways we can't really see. Iniidae must be somewhere pretty central to draw in people from as many places as it has.

[splasher]

I've never considered that. It's somehow less scary than the idea that we got shot into space from Earth.

[takeru, doing a good thing on this day without realising]

Oh! Sorry, I was going to teach you how to use the Fabricator... [he hurries towards the machine, then pauses, looking at patamon] Would you also like something to wear, like a hat or sweater? [to takeru] It could be done.

[hatamon]

[He has a lot of Thoughts on the multiverse, okay. But the need to have actual clothing is pressing enough that he lets go of the idea easily.]

It is kind of cold down here.

[Amused at the suggestion, Patamon settles on Takeru's shoulder to peer down at the fabricator.]

You mean you think it'd be easier to make something small first. It's fine if it helps, Takeru!

[The world isn't ready for #digimonfashion.]

[splasher]

Hn, it just might be nice.

[he stands besides takeru, and starts tapping at buttons on the fabricator's screen, instructing the other as he goes about it. the explanation is not a very long one, and it's not overly complicated, either.]

So just make sure you raise the lid, select the dimensions you want, close it again, and once you hit start, you should have your desired attire. Of course, you can always use it to make the clothes by sewing it yourself, but this way's faster, too.

[hey, presto! the fabricator spits out a small sweater that could fit on patamon. it was designed for a cat, but made a tad bit bigger]

Here you go, Patamon.

Wow, that's a lot easier than I was making it out to be.

[Maybe next time he'll ask for help first instead of being stubborn. It would've saved a lot of trouble.

Patamon accepts the sweater and awkwardly worms his way into it, falling off Takeru's shoulder somewhere in the process so that he's fighting his arms into the sleeves while flapping his wings to stay hanging in mid-air. Takeru hopes Makoto won't take offense to how he hard he laughs at all this--Patamon really looks like some rich old lady's dog while wearing that thing.

Once settled, Patamon shoots Takeru a glare before moving around experimentally.] It's warmer! But it won't last if I have to evolve.

patamon is so cute...

[splasher]

[makoto won't mind nor get offended, because he's also laughing at how aggravatingly endearing it was to see patamon wiggle his way into the sweater. he's pleased that it provides takeru's partner with warmth--because it really can get cold here.]

Oh? Evolve?

[that's not what he was expecting to hear as a thing patamon could do though]

He changes into something bigger when he has to fight.

[Takeru reaches out to gather Patamon up in his arms, looking down to address his partner and get a better view of the sweater.] But it's not like you've gotta worry about that while we're here in the base.

[He turns his attention back to Makoto.]

Thanks a lot for your help. If it's as simple as you made it look I think I can get the hang of it.

Oh...

[he wants to say that patamon looks too soft to fight (true, though), so it seems hard to imagine what "bigger" means.]

I hope Patamon doesn't have to fight... but, I can't say I'm curious.

[he nods at takeru]

If someone like myself can do it, I'm sure anyone else can, though I'm glad to have been of help.

[decides that he will come later to get his sweaters]
