[Playing with the Rabbitrays is always a great way to relax. There's a handful hanging around the Shallows who respond to a soft telepathic call of 'come out and play!' now, looping around and around Feferi and Mikleo, fanning their bright fins. A couple of bold ones sometimes come in even closer to investigate, when sunlight filters through the water and strikes light off her bracelets or their circlets the right way.

Mikleo's laughing a bit, offering a handful of ocean greenery to the more cautious ones, letting it drift through his fingers so they can nip it from the water below his hand.]

They're always so friendly, it makes it a little difficult to investigate them seriously.

[Feferi is trying to keep her smiling to a minimum--she's not sure rabbitrays would appreciate such a sharp-toothed grin--but it's very difficult when the brave ones dart in and the shyer ones hang back but she can just feel the curiosity and in little ways she can't help but be reminded of the cuttlefish she cared for back home in her castle. She giggles as she watches Mikleo feed some of them, scooping up some of the plant life to do so herself.]

Friendly investigations should definitely count! It's low-stress! [And it's fun.]

It's true. If anyone in the base needs to relax, we can now tell them, go play fish tag.

[He sounds dry enough that it could come off as sarcastic, but his expression when the bolder Rays start gently butting at their hands for more food -- visibly charmed and delighted even around all the swim gear on his face -- gives it the lie.]

They're totally unafraid unless they mark you trying to catch them for food; it's amazing.

[Feferi reaches out to one of the braver ones to touch it very gently. She really wants to take all of them back to the base.] I guess they don't have to worry about being eaten? The predators avoid them!

[Or at least one kind avoids them. She has no plans to find more and see how they react to sweet, gentle rabbitrays.]

[He ends up covering a laugh (which comes out as a stream of bubbles) as the boldest of the Rabbitrays leans right into the touch, like a very strange, bright underwater cat.]

You know, that’s true; I see the Stalkers chasing the other small fish, but not these. Do you have any idea why?

[tyrian]

Hmmm. [Feferi circles around one of the rabbitrays.] That must mean there's something about the rabbitrays they don't like. Maybe they're poisonous, or maybe they just taste bad! [She tickles one of the rabbitrays affectionately.]

That makes sense. Bit difficult to test which short of actually feeding them to something, though.

[Worse things have been done in the name of science, but he's not totally down with killing a bunch of small harmless things just to find out more about them yet.]
