[January 23-etc Open Mingle]

[WELL THAT'S OVER! Here is your post-alien open mingle. Relax! Enjoy not being attacked by aliens! Take a nap! Also you could explore, or do useful things, or otherwise be a productive member of crewciety.

The OOC plotting post has all the info on missions and going-ons. Or: nap!]

Varying sizes and distributions of spots, slight differences in colouration—the usual phenotypical differences.

[This is how Dirk keeps mentally organized all of Dave's random animal friends.]

They're easy pets to keep, but there's no reason you can't just familiarize yourself and make friends with a group in the wild.

Have you tried talking to them in the dreamscape?
monsieurchatastrophe: (7am the usual morning lineup)

[he's squinting at the rabbitrays to play stop the differences the second dirk lists them]

I can sort of see it... There aren't really any wild animals like this back home outside of pigeons, and I can't get too close to those, so I never really thought about how to differentiate them. This is pretty cool.

[and then dirk loses him a bit]

Dreamscape?
missmaladroite: (I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES (again))

What's the dreamscape?

[Marinette's trying to turn one over to look at it properly]

Pigeons are more of a menace than a wild animal... we're not allowed to feed them.

[If you do, you get akumatized]

[Someone really should write a brochure.]

Imagine an entire goddamned planet taking a nap and every single life on that planet being part of that dream, contributing their own bizarre quirks to it. That is basically the dreamscape.
monsieurchatastrophe: (and so I'll read a book)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2017-01-30 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[do it dirk. write a brochure]

That sounds... awesome and awful at the same time? Is that possible?

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-01-30 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
[We all believe in you, Dirk]

Can they... control it? How does it work?
splinten: appl-juice42 @ tumblr (like a bro does another bro)

Awesome usually comes with awful.

[WAS THAT NOT ADRIEN'S QUESTION it should have been. anyway, this kid, who is not writing a brochure, continues:]

You slip into it while you're dreaming. Essentially, your dreaming soul slips into the setting made my the planet's dreaming soul. I've never seen a Rabbitray manipulate the dreamscape, but people like us are capable of it. It's most likely to map your subconscious onto your immediate surroundings.

We have a couple of sleeping pods that allow for controlled entry and exit, too.
monsieurchatastrophe: (safe behind these windows)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2017-01-31 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
So everything on this planet is sharing a dream at the same time? That sounds chaotic. But how would that help us talk to these guys? Do the dreams affect reality too?

[this is some sci-fi bullshit, thinks the kid bREATHING UNDERWATER]
missmaladroite: (The lonely people)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-01-31 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Like... giving them the ability to talk?

[She'd like to tree the dreamscape, but she worries about Ladybug memories slipping into her dream.....]

It is hard to control it?
splinten: appl-juice42 @ tumblr (theres been some speculation)

[personal profile] splinten 2017-01-31 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
More that it facilitates telepathic communication of emotions with the sea life and that will translate into spoken words.

[Or, Dirk could have just said 'yes'?

No.]

Control takes practice. Some people have an easier time than others.
monsieurchatastrophe: (can it be)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2017-02-01 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
[what if he dreams in catsuit leather... this seems dangerous?? no one needs to see his ladybug dreams tbh]

So how do you know you're in the dreamspace if you're not going voluntarily? Does it just happen?

[dirk you should've made a brochure]
missmaladroite: (I beeeelieve in miracles)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-02-09 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
[stop shipping ladrien in your dreams, adrien... and dirk, just say yes]

So... it's projected to everyone? Can someone teach others, or...?
splinten: appl-juice42 @ tumblr (not all the cans are the same)

[personal profile] splinten 2017-02-09 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
It usually just happens. We also have some pods around that let you enter a dreamscape sleep at your discretion.

Anyone in the area can see what you project onto the dreamscape, and yeah, you can teach others. I heard some people learned tips from the Reefbacks.

[the ocean can teach you

so dirk doesn't have to]
