[Luckily for Korosensei, Donatello is not too far from said laboratory. He's just coming back in to organize more of the samples that Jotaro's group has been collecting, but he is distracted by the giant... yellow... tentacle guy...

... He's heard Korosensei before, but this is probably the first time he's actually seen the man. Don kind of wishes he had that speed when putting things together.]

Whoa. Talk about rapid assembly.

[ on the other hand, Korosensei has most likely seen Donatello before - it's in his nature to map out his surroundings, people included. Though he's rather hard to forget. The idea of aliens and alternate dimensions is here in concrete form in front of him, but it's still a little tough to grapple with. (Which, he thinks, is kind of silly, when he considers everything else that's happened to him...)

His lightning-fast movements come to a quick halt when Donatello speaks up, and he turns to face the turtle, peering through several tentacles holding various bits and bobs. ]

Nurufufu. Are you impressed? This Sensei is the fastest creature in the base! ... Probably.

I'm impressed as shell. You'd make one heck of a ninja.

[Don walks carefully up to Korosensei, smiling respectfully at the unusual person in front of him. Hopefully his comments aren't rude...]

Looks like you're more interested in engineering, though. What are you trying to build? [Asked as he gestures down at the half-built thing on the table.]

[ impressed as shell... After a blink and a moment to make sure he's actually serious, he chuckles to himself a little bit more. He likes you already for that pun, Don. And for being compared to a ninja. Another tentacle snakes up from somewhere for Korosensei to point at himself. ]

You think so? That's a wonderful compliment! I always thought ninjas were cool. [ who doesn't, really. ] This is a two-way radio, or the beginnings of one. I'd like to try and contact our lost comrades, though I can't guarantee I'll be successful.

[Tentacle man thinks ninjas are cool... well, Don is going to file that information away for later. The radio, however, is something that greatly interests him right now.]

A radio? Cool! Depending on whether there are any long-range signals we might be able to relay, it's possible we'll get something. Iniidae hasn't been settled before, and there shouldn't be any major natural radio wave sources barring lightning storms; that means almost all the radio signals will be artificial.

[... Oh, whoops, he was prattling on again, wasn't he.]

Anyway, it's a good idea. Need a hand? [Or, uh, tentacle?]

[ the prattling is not only accepted, it's welcomed. As Don goes on about the radio, Korosensei nods enthusiastically, excited that someone is on his wavelength (no pun intended.) ]

That's right! Theoretically, our fellows lost at sea should have access to something they could use to respond, given the technology URSULA's built into the equipment she gave us. My students may also have radio transceivers on them.

[ of course he's still trying to find them. what kind of teacher would he be if he wasn't? ]

Any assistance would be appreciated! Sensei is building this radio entirely from memory, so there may be errors.

[So pretending that Don just hadn't thought of the whole ninja thing until now for whatever reason...

Somehow it had not occurred to Don that a guy who looks like the Walmart symbol crossed with a disgruntled squid could ever be a teacher. Then again, Korosensei expressed confusion about Don being a ninja, so perhaps they're even.]

Man... I hope your students aren't in trouble. I'd feel awful if something happened to people I care about. [He's kind of trying not to wonder if his brothers got teleported here too, and he just hasn't found them yet...

Anyway. The Turtle walks over to the desk, peering at what Korosensei has made so far.] Maybe if both of us work together, we'll have enough information to build this thing properly.

[ nodding, he moves aside slightly in order to give Don a better look at what he's got. It looks about almost halfway done, but it's missing some key components; nonetheless, it's a very promising-looking shell. ]

I hope so, as well. They're as tough as they are clever, but still... I can't help but worry about them. Even they couldn't have been prepared for this. We weren't expecting to be separated.

[Definitely a great start. Don looks approvingly at the radio-shell as he turns it over.] It's missing a few amplifiers, a receiver and some of the wiring... but from just building from memory, you've got a solid base.

[Distracted from that train of thought by the idea of the missing students, Don glances up at Korosensei.] Would they know to send radio signals or some other kind of signal if they were lost somewhere?
