June Missions Catch-All!
[HAVE A CATCH-ALL LOG FOR MISSIONS! If you wanna do your own log that is cool too or you can do them here! Whatever works for you! o/

Spirit Stuff; Closed to Elize
But her favourite part comes next. She claps her hands together and brings an arch of fire above her as she breaks her hands apart. Never in her life has magic come so easily. And it's real, she knows it is, even if this is a dream. It's just like the Fade.
But she spots Eliza below her and waves, fire trailing her hand before disappearing.]
Elize! Isn't this amazing?
no subject
Merrill! Yes, I like it here...
[ Oh! And she can channel fire artes? Just like Rowen. Honestly, she never thought to try casting her spells in a dream. She always avoided using her artes unless it was absolutely necessary. But that's in the waking world.
It seems as though watching Merrill's fire encouraged her...
She doesn't have to say an incantation or yell Ignite Terror. When she holds her hand out before her (and making sure she's aiming at nothingness/AWAY FROM MERRILL), a large vertical glyph appears with purple and black energy surging out of it for a few seconds.
It's like using a spyrix! But not. She'd never dare use a spyrix. ]

Making Sure No One Starves!; Closed to Tytree
She has her pink wet suit on, breath mask, goggles, and being a beginner swimmer, she took along a pair of matching pink flippers. Initially, it felt strange swimming underwater and somewhat frightening, but she knows she shouldn't have anything to worry about with Tytree in her company.
Something shimmering on the ocean floor catches her attention. Swimming over, she plucks out a sea shell with pink shades. Elize, that's nothing the crew can eat when an animal is no longer living in it... ]
Tytree!
[ The shininess reminds her of the pretty pendant that Driselle gave her! Sort of. But it's shiny and pink. Her excitement has made her forget about being shy at all! SWIMMING TO BIG BRO TYTREE AS FAST AS SHE CAN!! ]
Look at this!

plus, he can help elize get used to being out in the water more—which is a pretty good deal for everyone, right? he seems to think so. so while he's trawling the area for edibles (within close enough distance to elize to be able to see her), his attention will shift when he hears his name.]
Look at what—what's up? [he's asking as he makes his way towards her, closing the gap so she doesn't have to swim as far.]

Labwork; Open
You can walk in on Mikleo filtering and distilling venom from Tiger Toxin spikes through a glassware apparatus, to purify and concentrate it, or squeezing the glowing Lantern Tree fruits for oil and dissecting Airsacks for their bladders. For some of you, the sight is downright ghostly.
Or, you can walk in on Sorey doing something curious with Table Coral metal and some small glass sheets, gingerly working with some heating tools to try and get the metal shaped . . . it looks like he's trying to make a box frame with it, to fit the glass? Success may vary.
Or, if it's late, you might just find one of them passed out next to the scatter of an experiment they pushed to the side, face pillowed in their arms and snoring gently. They get tired too.]

Telepathy Games; Open
[The scope of the world has gotten much larger, and with it the number of creatures seen on a daily basis has grown. Though there have been plenty of interactions (pleasant and unpleasant) with all of the local wildlife, today a group of eager kids has set out to learn how to properly communicate with the animals they still don't know too much about.
Sorey, for his part, is attempting to mentally chirp at a small flock of skyrays that thought to settle on floater island, now that there's something to perch on that isn't the Aurora. He doesn't get too close, but he does try to tempt some over with a bit of fish. He looks ready to be bothered, or maybe he could use some help.]
Dreaming
[In the dream world, the goal of communicating with the animals remains much the same. But without the added worry of being eaten for the trouble, there's a chance to talk to the more, well, unsavory fish of the animal kingdom. Like the ones that would normally try to eat you. There are plenty of chances to chat with the rabbitrays and the reefbacks, but who can say they stopped to chat with a reaper leviathan and lived to tell the tale?
Surely it's safe, since it's a dream world? What could go wrong.]
dreaming; near the aurora
It's not the worst well of malevolence they've ever encountered, but it's bad. After so long largely unexposed to it, he feels sick. He's also unwilling to let Sorey out of his sight -- or himself out of Sorey's sight, for that matter. The nature of the dreamscape doesn't help, though: shadows keep twisting in the corners of his vision, into glimpses of Forton's face, or the Lord of Calamity's claws.]

Corpse Cleanup; Open
It's not the most glamorous job, but a few souls have taken up the task of burying the unfortunate dead. Which leaves the issue of getting the corpses (mostly bones, given how fast the cave crawlers work) off of the Aurora and putting them properly to rest.
Are you along to help out with managing bodies, or do you just want to beat some cave crawlers up?]
do you mind a late tag-in? totally understand if not!
How many have been buried so far?

base reinforcement + expanding
[This is honestly Fukami's biggest concern. And his work for such will be split between different parts, and of course you can feel free to catch him wherever. This isn't a one-day job, after all!!]
- a. where's a metal detector when you need one
[Welcome to trawling the depths for the things that they need in order to make proper reinforcements. Fukami doesn't usually take the vehicles out since he is an underwater-breathing octopus, but lo and behold, if you're foraging yourself...
That's an octopus, toting a big old hammer. And I mean the slung over his shoulder kind of big. When he finds a promising spot, he works at it, maybe even breaking it open when he feels its necessary. Or, he goes sifting deep into the sands with his tentacles, searching out lithium and titanium. He's got a good memory for the kind of supplies needed for crafting by now.]
- b. so just stick it on with glue, right
[Then, after the requisite supplies are gathered, Fukami gets to work. He doesn't make everything at once and craft efficiently that way, no-- he's going to do things the old-fashioned and slow way. He has to work on things one-by-one, since there's only so much supplies one octopus can bring back on his own, 10 arms (total) and all.
So, suffice it to say, it's going to take a while. But hey. Gotta keep busy.
Naturally, he wishes to work on the foundations as well, what keeps the base supported, and sometimes he can be caught just swimming around them, hand against his chin and gaze thoughtful.]
ii. expanding/we need some private rooms thank
- a. would you mind filling out this questionnaire
[First thing's first when it comes to, well, breaking up the spaces is figuring out how... exactly to do that. Some are working on base expansion which is all well and good, but they do have to work with the space that they already have.
Fukami wanders around the inside of the base, his arms folded, stopping now and again.
If you're nearby, you may get a question:]
How small a room would you be all right with having, if we could split the space up?
- b. it's tea time
[Even an octopus needs to sit down and have a cup of tea and some snacks, okay? And with what they gathered from floater island, there are a number of new things he can make.
...Up to and including sweets.
Feel free to find him settling a large plate of freshly made sweets (are you going to eat those all yourself, Fukami??) on one of the tables in the dining area. Along with a tea pot and several cups. He'll just sit here and go through a cup of tea, not going through the trouble to find someone. For now.]
ii. a
And then suspicious.] Why are you asking? Do you want a smaller room? Do you want to have no room for having friends nearby for sleeping?
[They're bunk buddies, Fukami! Don't ruin this!] I think a room should be at least big enough to share! [HA. So there.]

It would at least have to be large enough for me and my brother to share space.
Honestly, I doubt he's willing to move from the observatory where the Magister's tank is. But you might consider designing the blueprints so that there's space to accommodate at least two in every added room. Especially if there are more arrivals.

As long as it's big enough to stretch my legs out at the end of the day, that's all I need!
[but...] We gotta make sure we keep enough space in case more people show up though, right? So maybe not too small, if we can pull it off. Enough so everyone can be as comfortable as they can, I guess? [is that possible?

base modification! -- library edition; open
[ It's a relatively easy job, only a day's worth of work. But Loki needs adult supervision.
If you can drive the Seamoth, that's great. You're hired. If you look like you can chop up wood, that's also great. You're hired too. He'll tell you to meet him on Floater Island later that day. When you arrive, he gives you instructions on how to find him. There, he'll be sitting next to a long-dead fallen tree and a small pile of hacked wood. He seems to be taking a break from chopping, as he has abandoned his axe and taken instead to stacking an inexplicable herd of light frogs. He's on the third layer. This is important, shut up. ]
Step 2: ARRANGE
[ After an afternoon of gluing, screwing, and hammering, there are now three basic wooden bookshelves in one of the observatories. Yeah!! Hopefully, the racket was worth it. There are also a couple of slightly charred but still functional plush chairs stolen from the Aurora. Loki may have bullied you into driving them back to base and hauling them to the observatory.
He puts his hands on his hips and surveys the room. ]
Hmm. How should we arrange all this? Does it need embellishment, you think?
[ He has spartan needs, but this time he'll try to be considerate and think of the comfort of others. Books should be able to be enjoyed at their fullest!! ]
Step 3: ASSIMILATE
[ The library is arranged, the books (and medical charts) are on their shelves, and a job is well done. With a tired but not discontent sigh, Loki prepares to eat the fruit of his labor. He pulls a book from a shelf and settles into a chair, which dwarfs him, but it is comfortable. He opens a page and begins to read.
Not a minute later, he's fast asleep. ]

RADIO BUILDING and THE HUNT FOR THE SUBNAUTICAN IDOL
[ Slowly but surely, his stress levels have been building. At first, he was able to keep it to manageable levels; the situation was clearly not anything like what he (and his students) were imagining, and things were far out of control. They'd merely gotten separated. But those kids were trained in survival and self-defense by some of the finest assassins in the world, and they'd honed their skills against none other than himself. They'd be fine on their own for a little while.
Then "a little while" turned into a month, and one month into two. There was no sign of them. The only hint of their familiar presence was a scent that disappeared once as soon as he got close. People in the base itself would vanish from URSULA's range without warning. The days pass on and on with no sign of anything changing, and the water closes in around him like a wall, preventing him from adequately searching for his lost charges (though he tries regardless.)
Time for a different approach.
A week or so into June, Korosensei can be found in one of the laboratories, holding a variety of metals, wiring and glass in his various tentacles as he tinkers with a square-shaped something on one of the desks. His movements, as usual, are almost too fast to follow with the naked eye, but he seems quite intent on building whatever it is he's building.
If your character doesn't find him then, however, they'll hear from him later, anyway. His memory might be near-photographic, but the truth is that he's never actually had to build a radio from scratch, and there aren't exactly manuals around. Eventually, he needs help. His whimsical voice carries over the portable database: ]
Excuse me. Umm, if any of you have any experience building two-way radios, Sensei would like to recruit you to the east laboratory! Thank you kindly!
( ooc: quest results here! since some of the results won't happen until later in the month and the radio is actually finished, i did not include them. feel free to post about them yourself if you want when they happen!)
B: U ARE THE OCEAN'S GRAY WAVES (closed to sorey, mikeo, dave, rose, loki, kay?? ANYONE WHO WAS INTERESTED.)
[ the dreaming thing is weird enough already (well, for sensei, at least), and it only gets weirder once he notices that song. Now, according to what he's heard about the dream world, it is, indeed, just a dream, in the sense that they can't really be hurt or killed within it. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a place he largely doesn't understand, and one that's still filled with bizarre wildlife, some of which is aggressive.
Plus, it's just not smart to do things like this alone. Even he knows that.
Fortunately, he's not the only one interested in finding out where that singing is coming from - and finding out who's singing at all. Dave wanted to go - or, rather, Rose wanted to go, apparently, and he's going with - and Korosensei wanted to tag along, and a few others caught wind, and now they're here, swimming through this hazy sea after a distant voice that may or may not even be significant.
Or, at the least, they're trying. Korosensei isn't a great swimmer... ]
( ooc: quest results here! feel free to respond with your own sort-of toplevel, threadjack, set something later in the adventure - whatever you want! i assume we'll all be mingling in each other's threads here, since they're travelling as a group. )
b
[The Zestiria boys would have warned the group before setting out of a force called 'malevolence' coming from the dreaming Void, something impure that can affect people mentally and transform them physically if they absorb enough of it, something Sorey fortunately has the power to purify if it gets that bad...
True enough, he starts to look queasy as they approach the blasted, normally Aurora-occupied area to which they've tracked the singing, though he's still making himself swim along briskly and keep the illness he's feeling out of his wry mental voice.]
It's always something here, isn't it...? Everyone, please let us know if you start feeling strange when we head down. We'll try our best to help before it gets too bad.
ii.
[There's a green light, and it's resonating with sound and emotion. No, that isn't malevolence but it's strange and alien, making his eyes sting, making him shift defensively closer to the slight comfort of their little group even as he tries to reach out to the song's source.]
Hello? Please, who are you?
iii.
[You might wake up near him, in the aftermath; he's shivering and curled up on his side in the water, just drifting for the moment, staring over at you in surprise.]
Why...you're glowing.
[So is he, but he's distracted.]
