dragon dreams | open telepathy
[after swimming into the Void and having a very unfortunate dream encounter, Mikleo wakes up gasping and distressed.
he doesn't often take advantage of the wider telepathic network on his own, but he makes an exception a little closer to noon, when most people are likely to be up and about. anyone in range in/around the base will hear his announcement; it sounds very stilted, partly out of embarrassment and partly because his head is still full of distractingly horrible dragon roaring at intervals.]
Hello? Hi. Ah. Mikleo here. I think I made a bit of a mistake yesterday. Since the songs in the dream world seem to be the key to pulling us there, I thought I might try to communicate with whatever was singing in the strange dreams and deep sleep people arrived in some time ago. That song does have a source in the dream world, for anyone who wasn't with us on that mission -- we found it in the Void there, some kind of green light.
It turns out that it's actually a -- a sea dragon of some sort. I heard it while I was awake, but its roaring caused psychic backlash and I only saw its actual form when I went to sleep, so I'm not sure how present it is in dreams versus the real world. Here's what it looks like, though.
[there's a brief broadcast of something huge beyond reckoning, the space all around it wreathed with strange black flecks. he sends only a still silent image, and tries to minimize the impression of it so it's not nearly as direct and terrifying as what he experienced, but it's still pretty freaky.]
I tried to talk to it, but it was...highly malevolent, and not all that communicative. It told me 'it had already begun' -- this might be a reference to those deep dreams -- and when I asked it what it wanted, it just said 'my will.' The Reapers call themselves 'the will made manifest,' so they're probably related to it as well.
...sorry, this doesn't make a lot of sense to everyone, does it? I'll answer any questions if you have them, but I really would like to figure out what to do about this situation, and some way to investigate further. The Reapers have made it plain that they don't like us on this planet at all, so this bodes poorly all around.

[If there's something he doesn't need reminding of, it's that. Plus wanting to swim into the deep ocean and disappear really wasn't something he ever wanted to experience.]
Ah... Jabberwock Island. It's... I was there on a class trip with my friends. It's pretty remote, I wouldn't expect people to have heard of it.

[he manages a tiny bit of humor in his next statement, though he won't pry too hard if Hinata sounds reticent about it.]
And that's extra doubtful, when we seem to be from about a hundred different worlds at any given time.

[But he huffs a humorless laugh through his nose, unsure how to communicate that through telepathy.]
Hah, yeah, you're right about that. It's kind of incredible, if a little scary. I mean... how are we supposed to all go back where we came from with something as vague as that? Even if we somehow built a spaceship and went back to Earth... what kind of Earth would it be?

...the Reapers are smart enough to be aware of spaceships, though. When we tried to speak to one and said we didn't know how to go home, it said we hadn't even tried to build something to fly away in, the way we flew here. Never mind that we didn't fly here in the first place.

[Doesn't recognize Earth as the name of a planet, does he...? That's even more frightening to him, though it makes sense. After all, Mikleo is literally invisible to him. Who knows what other weird shit he can do??]
How could a sea creature know anything about spaceships...? I mean... yeah, they're aliens, but they don't have any kind of civilization that we know of, right? How could they actually know what the Aurora is...?

Unless people told them. But that's even weirder, that they can communicate like that. I don't know, I've... never had to think about stuff like this before.

It feels risky, but I rather wish the dreamscape had stayed open a little longer, the way it was a few weeks ago. Invulnerable bodies and the ability to communicate more directly with creatures there goes a long way.
