It’s been about a month or so since people started arriving to this world and onto the base—a month of shenanigans, exploration, danger, angry sealife and other things. In this still-small base, there’s all kinds of things that characters can do so, therefore, consider this an all-purpose base mingle post.

→ i. it’s a fixer upper
[In the wake of the Aurora explosion, there were quite a few things that needed repairing. Even then, the base itself is by no means complete, with limited room and not even rooms for each and every person. Luckily, there aren’t all that many living in the base! Yet.

But, there’s always something to do. Are you helping with repairs? Trying to decorate the base somehow? Building something new that can add to it? Perhaps you’re one of those in the laboratory, researching what species that this ocean has to offer. Hopefully nothing else is blowing up.

Or are you just standing around, staring wistfully out at the ocean and not contributing at all? I mean, that’s fine, but…]


→ ii. catch of the day
[How’s that seafood? What? You have no idea how to cook it? Well, then.

It’s probably like sushi, where you can eat it raw, right? Or maybe you’re one of those bringing back fresh supplies to the base. Possibly still wriggling around fresh supplies. Can you actually (miracle of miracles) cook some of the fish/other things that are probably fish so that they don’t taste half-bad?

If all else fails, just munch on some seaweed. I hear it’s nutritious.]


→ iii. it’s like a giant sleepover
[Surely there’s nothing awkward about cramming yourself into one of the ‘free’ rooms around the base with your air mattress and curling up there. Have you set out a space for yourself? Found a nice spot where you’re usually alone but uh-oh don't count on that for too long?

Perhaps you’d rather just sleep in the hallway to avoid drifting off near others.

Maybe you just don’t sleep at all or you prefer roaming the base when it gets dark. Nightmares about sea creatures can be a doozy.]

[It's cute..........it's such a cute story, and Mai's clearly enthralled; she almost forgets to take notes as he speaks. But about halfway through the story she does remember, quickly scribbling down some notes so she can write the story down in its entirety later--

I...don't know. It's a very old legend, so of course it's bound to have been embellished a lot over the years, but legends have to start somewhere, right? There are definitely lightning seraphs around -- Gramps is one.

I suppose it's possible for one to mess up with his powers like that if he didn't have any training in controlling them, too...I used to make terrible messes with the water sometimes, when I was little.

[Huh.......... lightning seraphs... what a world they must live in.]

We have some stories like that too...I wonder if they're true.

[She never really thought about it but they could be. Look at what exists in all of these other worlds...]

... But really? I can't imagine... you always seem so competent, Mikleo-san!

I--try to be, is all. But no one starts out just knowing these things.

[They're motivated to learn them pretty fast when they grow up with a human best friend, though.]

Oh yes...! Um... not of seraphim, but... of thunder gods who would throw around lightning, and things like that. I'm not very familiar with them--people don't tell stories like that very often anymore... but I always liked them.

[For whenever she was able to listen. Granted, now she can't remember much of anything thanks to her amnesia, so... alas.]

Spirits aren't very common where you come from, are they...? If stories like that aren't common either.

Um...

[She tilts her head a little, though when she responds, it's slowly, as if she's thinking hard about it.]

Now that I think about it... maybe I just didn't know about them before. But... I met a spirit back home, and he's been very kind to me...and he's helped me a lot. So maybe...maybe we just didn't know.

Just one, though . . .

[He trails off, musing on that.]

They might live in a different area, too, right?

They might... I think Orion did.

[He just hopped over to the human world for a day trip and ended up messing everything else up, it's fine.]

It's...a little sad. I mean... Orion is a very good friend to me, and you've been a wonderful friend too, Mikleo-san!

[So she wishes she could meet more spirits and seraphim and things too.]

I suppose -- maybe when you go back home, you could go looking? It might be an interesting adventure.

[It can't be any more dangerous than being around people for her at this point, she thinks.]

Mm! Maybe I should...! [There's a beat, and--] Do you have any idea where they might be living...?

[He might have a better idea than her.]

Maybe...places that people consider haunted or sacred? Shrines and things, places like mountains and forests with legends attached -- that's where you'd be likely to find a seraph in Glenwood, anyway. Your spirits might have different preferences, but sometimes stories of supernatural things have a root in truth.
