action ; open base mingle
It’s been about a month or so since people started arriving to this world and onto the base—a month of shenanigans, exploration, danger, angry sealife and other things. In this still-small base, there’s all kinds of things that characters can do so, therefore, consider this an all-purpose base mingle post.
prompts:
(These prompts are loose so you can make your own prompts for people to tag out of them. Make headers, tag around, use this post for whatever you like!)
prompts:
→ i. it’s a fixer upper
[In the wake of the Aurora explosion, there were quite a few things that needed repairing. Even then, the base itself is by no means complete, with limited room and not even rooms for each and every person. Luckily, there aren’t all that many living in the base! Yet.
But, there’s always something to do. Are you helping with repairs? Trying to decorate the base somehow? Building something new that can add to it? Perhaps you’re one of those in the laboratory, researching what species that this ocean has to offer. Hopefully nothing else is blowing up.
Or are you just standing around, staring wistfully out at the ocean and not contributing at all? I mean, that’s fine, but…]
→ ii. catch of the day
[How’s that seafood? What? You have no idea how to cook it? Well, then.
It’s probably like sushi, where you can eat it raw, right? Or maybe you’re one of those bringing back fresh supplies to the base. Possibly still wriggling around fresh supplies. Can you actually (miracle of miracles) cook some of the fish/other things that are probably fish so that they don’t taste half-bad?
If all else fails, just munch on some seaweed. I hear it’s nutritious.]
→ iii. it’s like a giant sleepover
[Surely there’s nothing awkward about cramming yourself into one of the ‘free’ rooms around the base with your air mattress and curling up there. Have you set out a space for yourself? Found a nice spot where you’re usually alone but uh-oh don't count on that for too long?
Perhaps you’d rather just sleep in the hallway to avoid drifting off near others.
Maybe you just don’t sleep at all or you prefer roaming the base when it gets dark. Nightmares about sea creatures can be a doozy.]
→ iv. choose your own/wildcard option
[What else has your character been doing? Go wild!]

[He's thinking about it now... It would be nice to be able to make sweets, yes it would. Even if there is sharing inevitably in his future.]
no subject
[ for once, a topic he's not extremely well-versed in. ]
no subject
[Don't ask too much about it canon sucks about giving MANY DETAILS] But the plants differ much here.
no subject
Still! You've got more experience than the rest of us! We'll be counting on you...!
no subject
...I will do what I can.
[But for now, food! He's done, so he sets it on plates and sweeps those up with his tentacles.] I'm certain people will make discoveries on their own even without my help, though.
no subject
[ he's talking, but he's staring intently at those plates as he does so, apparently ignoring Fukami's pointed look in favor of the food. ]
no subject
Is that so, [he murmurs.] I will do what I can. I've no reason to hold back anything I might be able to share.
no subject
I'm glad to hear it! [ lacing his tentacles together on the tabletop. ] Um, so, about that shark steak...
no subject
[YOU DO LIKE SHARK DON'T YOU KOROSENSEI
tastes just like chicken (no)]
no subject
[ onto the important topics: feeding korosensei. ]
no subject
[Allow Fukami to place a plate before him with it... go... partake, sensei...]
no subject
Oh boy! Don't mind if I do!
[ fortunately, he has better manners than one might guess, and despite how he's acting, he eats the food like a normal person instead of a starved stray. Once he takes a few bites, his eyes light up, as does his skin; a bright green ring of approval appears on his face. ]
-- It's delicious! You're a bona fide chef, Fukami-kun!
no subject
[Fukami inclines his head. He doesn't seem perturbed by that green ring even though it gives him a second of pause. Octopi change colours... occasionally... (NOT LIKE THAT).]
I've been cooking for some time.
[He starts to eat as well, nice and politely even though he can totally eat like a savage when he feels like it.]
no subject
Oh, really? Is that your job back in the sea kingdom?
no subject
No, I've just wound up being the one to cook most of the meals for my master and her other familiars.
[big bro Fukami activate]
no subject
[ a blink. ]
You make her sound like a witch.
no subject
She is.
[The best witch.]
no subject
... Does she really wear a pointy hat?
no subject
[Listen. They're all about stereotypes.]
To a degree. It's bent at the tip.
no subject
[ no... he doesn't... lavellan said she could use magic too but?? ]
-- Are you trying to make fun of me?!
no subject
[SENSEI HE'S 100% LINEFACE ALL THE TIME
He's not fun enough to make fun of you.]
no subject
[ he grumbles while munching some more shark. ]
But! That does expain why an octopus like yourself can be in human form, doesn't it? If you're her familiar...
no subject
[Just going to make it COMPLICATED.
Sorry, sensei.] ...Though, I might not have bothered to take it should Wadanohara not have made me her familiar.
no subject
W-wait, so even a little anchovy could turn into a full-fledged talking human? Extradimensional aliens sure are strange...
no subject
You are aware that you're rather strange yourself?
