It’s been about a month or so since people started arriving to this world and onto the base—a month of shenanigans, exploration, danger, angry sealife and other things. In this still-small base, there’s all kinds of things that characters can do so, therefore, consider this an all-purpose base mingle post.

→ i. it’s a fixer upper
[In the wake of the Aurora explosion, there were quite a few things that needed repairing. Even then, the base itself is by no means complete, with limited room and not even rooms for each and every person. Luckily, there aren’t all that many living in the base! Yet.

But, there’s always something to do. Are you helping with repairs? Trying to decorate the base somehow? Building something new that can add to it? Perhaps you’re one of those in the laboratory, researching what species that this ocean has to offer. Hopefully nothing else is blowing up.

Or are you just standing around, staring wistfully out at the ocean and not contributing at all? I mean, that’s fine, but…]


→ ii. catch of the day
[How’s that seafood? What? You have no idea how to cook it? Well, then.

It’s probably like sushi, where you can eat it raw, right? Or maybe you’re one of those bringing back fresh supplies to the base. Possibly still wriggling around fresh supplies. Can you actually (miracle of miracles) cook some of the fish/other things that are probably fish so that they don’t taste half-bad?

If all else fails, just munch on some seaweed. I hear it’s nutritious.]


→ iii. it’s like a giant sleepover
[Surely there’s nothing awkward about cramming yourself into one of the ‘free’ rooms around the base with your air mattress and curling up there. Have you set out a space for yourself? Found a nice spot where you’re usually alone but uh-oh don't count on that for too long?

Perhaps you’d rather just sleep in the hallway to avoid drifting off near others.

Maybe you just don’t sleep at all or you prefer roaming the base when it gets dark. Nightmares about sea creatures can be a doozy.]

Um--okay...! I'd be happy to meet him.

[ Cardia turns, to lead the way-- but then pauses, because Sisi already beat her to it. That sure is a corgi with a metal leg in a top hat trotting in to sniff at Mai's feet. ]

... This is Sisi.

[aaaaAAAAAH IT'S A CORGI.

Mai's immediately crouching, one hand over her mouth.]

Oh...! What a handsome boy! [AND ADORABLE.]

[ WELL. He'll just... sniff around Mai some more, before he puts his paws on his thighs and tries to strain up high enough to lick her face. ]

He likes you!

[This is the best day ever.]

Aw... I'm so glad. I like him too.

[She'll go ahead and pet him--because duh, he's a corgi what else would you do--giggling as he licks her face.]

I didn't realize you were able to bring your friend here... how wonderful.

I still don't really know how that happened. I just found him in my locker...

But...I'm still glad he was able to come with you. Now he can be there for you when you need him.

[ A joyous bark, from the corgi. Yep, he's very sweet, even if Lupin and Impey lament otherwise. Cardia blinks, though. ]

Oh...! I'm sorry, it's just.... um...

[She just shakes her head quickly.]

Is Sisi-chan better? [Kind of more cutesy, but...]

What do they mean? Are they nicknames?

[ SHE'S FROM WALES, OKAY... ]

O-oh, no... they're honorifics. Um--they're polite, back home... but for pets it's more...endearment, I guess?

But if the bother you, I can try to stop.

Oh, no! Trust me, they don't, I'd just never heard them...

They're used back home... um, I'm from Tokyo. In Japan, I mean.

Japan... that's an Eastern country, isn't it?

[ Not that she's learned a whole lot about countries outside of England... ]

[She supposes, yeah.]

Where are you from, Cardia-san?

Wales... that is, England.

[ She's lived in Wales, anyway. Is she from there? She's not sure. ]

Oh...England!

[HOW ROMANTIC...??? That's so cool....]

That's amazing... I've never met anyone from England before.

I've never met anyone from Japan, either. Or... people with tentacles...

[ She knew like all of six or seven people. ]

I don't think it's wrong if you're not. Everyone here, human or not, has been incredibly kind.

Oh, that's true too...! I've...never met so many of the sorts of people here, but they're all so kind.

I'm really grateful to be around such talented and kind people like this. [Especially since she's useless.]
