action ; open base mingle
It’s been about a month or so since people started arriving to this world and onto the base—a month of shenanigans, exploration, danger, angry sealife and other things. In this still-small base, there’s all kinds of things that characters can do so, therefore, consider this an all-purpose base mingle post.
prompts:
(These prompts are loose so you can make your own prompts for people to tag out of them. Make headers, tag around, use this post for whatever you like!)
prompts:
→ i. it’s a fixer upper
[In the wake of the Aurora explosion, there were quite a few things that needed repairing. Even then, the base itself is by no means complete, with limited room and not even rooms for each and every person. Luckily, there aren’t all that many living in the base! Yet.
But, there’s always something to do. Are you helping with repairs? Trying to decorate the base somehow? Building something new that can add to it? Perhaps you’re one of those in the laboratory, researching what species that this ocean has to offer. Hopefully nothing else is blowing up.
Or are you just standing around, staring wistfully out at the ocean and not contributing at all? I mean, that’s fine, but…]
→ ii. catch of the day
[How’s that seafood? What? You have no idea how to cook it? Well, then.
It’s probably like sushi, where you can eat it raw, right? Or maybe you’re one of those bringing back fresh supplies to the base. Possibly still wriggling around fresh supplies. Can you actually (miracle of miracles) cook some of the fish/other things that are probably fish so that they don’t taste half-bad?
If all else fails, just munch on some seaweed. I hear it’s nutritious.]
→ iii. it’s like a giant sleepover
[Surely there’s nothing awkward about cramming yourself into one of the ‘free’ rooms around the base with your air mattress and curling up there. Have you set out a space for yourself? Found a nice spot where you’re usually alone but uh-oh don't count on that for too long?
Perhaps you’d rather just sleep in the hallway to avoid drifting off near others.
Maybe you just don’t sleep at all or you prefer roaming the base when it gets dark. Nightmares about sea creatures can be a doozy.]
→ iv. choose your own/wildcard option
[What else has your character been doing? Go wild!]

Mm... I feel like there's always something to do here. I suppose...we do have a really big task to accomplish, don't we?
[Even if it's almost daunting to look at it straight on, they're all doing their best.]
Still, with everyone working together... I think we can do it.
no subject
It's a lot to accomplish with a small group of people like this, but we're off to a good start. And I'm hoping it's not just us, either. There may still be survivors from Ursula's last crew, and there may be more people like us who end up here.
no subject
That's true too...! But even if it is just us... I don't feel lonely or afraid. I think that everyone is very impressive and kind so...it's okay.
no subject
Yeah--we've got a talented bunch of people. That just makes me want to try even harder to give it my best.
no subject
[Which can be tricky to be sure, but she's at least trying to help out.]
But I'm sure you'll do well, Sorey-san! You're very talented too, after all.
no subject
I know there are still things I have to work on, but it's really nice of you to say so. I think I just got lucky that a lot of the things we do here are similar to what I do at home.
no subject
Eh...? Really?
[She can't help but be distracted by this, honestly.]
What do you do back home...? Um, if you don't mind me asking, of course...!
no subject
[He makes a mental list of the similarities and says them as he goes.]
Hunting and gathering food is a pretty big thing back home; Mikleo and I grew up in a village all the way on top of a mountain, and we never went into town for anything. So we got all of our supplies on our own. That's pretty similar to what we're doing here. And fighting back dangerous monsters sort of ties into that, except none of the monsters here have malevolence.
no subject
[Quite frankly. Between living at the top of a mountain and fighting dangerous monsters and--!!]
Malevolence...? Like... bad feelings and things?
no subject
[He knows his life has always been a bit like something out of a fairy tale, though, so he doesn't mind her saying so; he did grow up with a whole village of people that most humans can't even see.]
Malevolence is...it's hard to explain, but if someone does a lot of bad things and they know what they've been doing is wrong, it breeds malevolence inside of them and they can turn into monsters we call hellions. --It doesn't seem like it happens here though, so there's no need to worry about it!
no subject
[It's a good thing he reassures her, because she was definitely looking a bit paler at that. It sounds really...]
That sounds so frightening... you dealt with things like that all the time, Sorey-san? [She can't imagine...it sounds so difficult.] Wasn't it frightening...?
no subject
[When faced with life-or-death situations it's hard to not feel scared, he can admit that much.]
But I try not to focus on that; I have my friends with me, and I know they'll look out for me just like I'll look out for them. It's my duty to purify the hellions and I won't just go back on that because it gets tough.
no subject
[That sounds like so much--she doesn't know how he does it, but she does know that that's very impressive.]
That's incredible, Sorey-san... you're so brave.
[But... maybe that's why he's able to be so warm and helpful all the time.]
I'm really glad that you're here with us.
no subject
Everyone's doing their part, so I've got to do mine too. Whether it's back home, or here. It's been a little crazy, but I'm really glad I'm here too! Meeting all of you has honestly been amazing.
