action: an arrival
[ to say sonia's arrival is less than stellar would be an understatement. while she recalls waking up at the monolith and being contacted by someone in particular, the details on getting from there to one of the life pods are fuzzy...mostly because she is immediately catapulted into action. unfortunately. not that sonia minds action precisely but she absolutely protests the following:action: outside room 20
1) another life pod firing a laser that causes a huge-ass reaper to attack her pod;
2) her poor life pod being Wrecked and summarily being dropped into the ocean;
3) running low on air while holding her breath and trying to dodge. a sea monster;
4) said sea monster ripping her skirt with its teeth?
she protests less the timely arrival of drones (with breathing equipment!) and their saving her, but literally all of them were lost and eaten by a reaper (still no idea what that was, by the way) so today is just. well it sure is a day. it was already a day but now it is even more of a day.
so there's a soaking wet princess near the base entry with a torn skirt and a mildly displeased expression - a true rarity - attempting to wring out her hair. and her skirt. and her blouse. and her everything? she straightens up to perfect posture when she hears footsteps, however. ]
Excuse me! I require a towel at once, or a change of clothes. Please direct me to one of the two immediately.
[ it's a mix of polite and commanding, although she does manage to clear away the very small frown and replace it with her best neutral smile. ]
[ well. she has to sleep somewhere and she doesn't particularly want to share her space with certain people (souda) so sonia is simply picking one of the private rooms that is open at complete random.action: library
she peers inside. ]
Hm...a one-mat room, correct? Exciting! Though the mat itself is missing...well, no matter! I shall take it all the same. Perhaps I should make a nameplate?
[ she's...completely not paying attention to her surroundings, so if you make a sudden noise - even speaking, she'll whirl. ]
Oh! You cannot sneak up on me like that! [ that's a pure order, commanding pose and all. it breaks after a second as she tilts her head to the side and smile brightly, though. ] ...That said, hello! How do you do? If you are looking for a room, I am afraid I have just laid claim to this one.
[ when she has free time late in the evening sonia wanders towards the library. it's admittedly not much compared to the one at home in novoselic, or even the one on the island, but at least there are some books. she's sort of frowning and thumbing through them, though. maybe not any she likes...? ]
Everything seems to be in the same language...oooh! [ humming happily, she pulls out one of those occult books that was found over a month ago, happily flipping through the pages. this doesn't seem like something particularly useful to be reading, sonia, but okay. ] I've never seen this sort of demon summoning ritual before! And potions, too.

1
Korra looks her up and down, trading Sonia's neutral smile for one of her own.]
I don't have a towel or a change of clothes on me, but I can help you get dry if you're okay with it. [At this point, she's just assuming that the stranger doesn't know about bending. No point surprising her with it right away.] What happened?
no subject
There was a very large creature! I'm afraid I don't know what it was, though...even though I'm usually very well-read on monsters! [ why are you well-read on monsters, sonia. but she taps her finger to her chin. ] Hm...it was sort of a whale-eel with large mandibles, but also a mouth for many teeth? I'd wager it was just under fifty meters long...It destroyed my life pod utterly and also all the drones Miss URSULA sent to fetch me.
[ a sincerely worried frown. ]
I do wish I could have done more for them, but I'm afraid the life pod didn't have any weaponry available to me, and also it was destroyed anyway. [ and she couldn't breathe underwater until they helped her out. oops. ] But! If you truly can help me get dry, by all means you have my full permission to do so.
no subject
[The stranger's mood is suddenly a lot more forgivable--Korra also can't help but feel lucky that she and Kon hadn't run into much trouble when they were dropped onto this planet. Compared to stories like Sonia's, they had it way easy.]
Just a sec. It might feel a little weird at first... [With a smooth gesture, Korra pulls the moister from Sonia's clothes and lets it puddle on the floor next to her.] There. Good as new. [Her eyes fix on the tear, and she frowns.] Or I guess...mostly?

Sonia? Gak-!
[Inexplicably, Hajime feels the need to drop to one knee, taking a step back as if he might do so. And then catches himself, because no, he's not doing that.]
S-sorry, I... it's really you, right...?
no subject
[ but she recalls miss URSULA reassuring her they were fine and here? so. also she kind of had other things on her mind. like reapers trying to eat her immediately. thanks, komaeda. thanks. ]
Hm...I don't think I can give your greeting a good score. Please try again! Ah, I know! I'll forgive you for it if you help me to locate a tatami mat!
no subject
It's really good to see you, Sonia!
[Hopefully the injected-cheer is enough to satisfy her, as he's almost immediately thrown off-balance by her request.]
A... no, there's no tatami. Rin and I are working on water beds, but-- w-wait, hang on! When did you get here?

Do you like that sort of thing? I think we found a mother lode of them. Are you capable of rousing hellions from their demonic slumbers?
[It seems like an appropriate question.]

[ the princess does look a little morose about that, nearly pouting - except it can't quite be called pouting when it's such a regal downturn of the lips. she brightens almost immediately, though. ]
But that does not make it any less interesting, does it? I must admit that this sort of reading is one of my favorite hobbies! I had intended to see if there was anything relevant to this place here [ kind of ] but this is a much more excellent discovery! Even if this library is much too small to have a hide and seek tournament in.
no subject
[Wait no back up she's tried to summon a demon and it didn't work.]
But that's swell. Well, not that it failed but that you tried! I bet it was fun.

A fascinating collection, isn't it?
no subject
It is! I should very much like to try some of these spells...though, I think just reading about them is equally fun. It is too bad there isn't anything else aligning to my interests, but I shall settle for tomes on magic.
no subject
Ah, are you a spellcaster? [ not beardy enough to be a wizard, but a mage perhaps? witch? druid? etc whatever? ] Yes, they are enjoyable reads. I always hope future salvage quests will find more, give us a complete collection.
What are your other interests? Our library may be small, but it has some hidden jems. As well, URSULA has a database of information if there's something specific.

I do not have towels on me at the moment, but I can make repairs to your skirt if we find matching fabric.
[Kanaya puts an finger to her mouth in thought.]
Although, I dare say that perhaps it may be easier for me to make you a new one.
no subject
is this cosplay
this is the fabled japanese cosplay isn't it!!! wonderful! sonia is distracted before she can give praise, however, by kanaya's offer. ]
Eh? A new one? But that would surely be more time-intensive...truly, it would be wonderful if you could fix my uniform.
[ because. she has nothing else to wear. ]
no subject
[That and Kanaya is against the use of the fabricator to create clothes after he monstrosity that Rin brought out of it.]
We can stop by the showers first and get you a towel and if you so wish, a shower. Depending on the length, I might be able to have your skirt fixed by the time you're done.
[She got her sewing machine back recently, so once she finds matching fabric and thread, it will not take too long.]

he startles at the commanding pose, and even jack the sword is shocked enough to just. zap himself back into a pendant. thanks for the back-up, buddy. ]
I-- what.
[ okay but commandments like that make him think god, and while at a second glance he's. mostly sure this chick isn't, he'd believe she was the daughter of one. does freya have any human demigod kids. because. yeah. ]
Uh, sorry? Hi. I'm fine, and already have a room. So that one's all yours.

[ . . . He begins, when he hears the gist of that from around the corner. But it's as he turns it that he cuts off cold, whatever word he was going to say next drawing out into a long gasp instead.
Sonia-san!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A tidal wave of emotion crashes into him, such that for a good few seconds, all he can do is gesture wildly, his face lighting up like a Christmas tree. Then another Christmas tree. Then an entire lot of Christmas trees.
And then he flings himself at her, threatening to sweep her up into a hug.]
S-SONIA-SAAAAAAAANNNNN!
no subject
Halt! [ that's the full force of her commanding tone because a hug is the last thing she wants from souda kazuichi right this second? not that it's bad to see him alive. that's a good thing? he's well? she's just missing the others? but.
this is the girl who kept getting disappointed they couldn't tie him up instead of komaeda. ]

outside room 20
She's about to speak when her foot scuffs on the floor and Sonia's whirling around, starting Chihiro in turn. She jerks back, fumbling her folded self-inflating mattress along with the rest of her scant belongings. In trying to catch it, she ends up activating the self-inflation function, meaning the space between her and Sonia is now being rapidly filled by an air mattress filling itself on it's side. ]
Oh no! Please, stop!
[ Plop goes everything else on the ground while she reaches out with both hands to take hold of the vigorously inflating mattress. Why this?! ]
AH. I SEE NOTIFS WENT DOWN. throws up hands
Oh dear! How do we make it stop?
[ does anyone have a needle on hand???????? ]
