A Fortunate Arival
[Arriving on Base]
[He was vaguely aware of waking up inside a small capsule. If he was to describe it he would liken it to one of those escape pods you see in scifi films. He might have had more to describe if he hadn't been violently jerked out of one perceived reality to another. After all, it was a little hard to go from a rather unpleasant state to suddenly waking up in a small capsule and being attacked by some horrible sea monster.]
Oh what bad luck!
[But as soon as he said that much a laser fired out and monster got distracted going somewhere else. before he knew it something was shooting him out and directly towards the base. Though his legs were a little wobbly, and he definitely needed a moment to gather himself it didn't take too much effort to board. As soon as he walked in he smiled cheerfully.]
It was lucky after all!
[Med Bay]
[Despite a safe arrival he was not in a good state. Being stationary for the minimum of a month, the maximum of who even knows is hard on the body, especially Nagito's body. For the time being he was simply resting in one of the beds, though trying to get up every so often to move around. However, staying here was troubling him. He had taken measure of himself, it was someone else. A person that worried him.]
I guess my assumption was true then....
[Did that mean he failed? He had to know... he had to know if his plan had been successful, if he had saved them! Still... if he was here....
He lifted up his left arm and stared at the hand there. That hand that didn't belong. A woman's hand with red nails....]
This really is unlucky in the end.
[Library]
[It was later at night and Nagito had more or less made camp in the room. There wasn't anywhere else for him to go. Taking a private room didn't feel right, and he couldn't bare the thought of sharing it with others. However, he liked the idea of being where all the books in this place were. He could read them at leisure, and unless someone told him he couldn't stay... well, it was a free space, right?]

[ her tone is firm and she lifts her chin a little, unflinching. ]
However, I say again: given how you reacted the last time you learned anything at all, I do not feel comfortable discussing these things with you now. While it's true we wanted to wake you along with the others...given what you're saying now, I find it difficult to believe you would not attempt to harm our friends once again. And that is a thing I cannot allow.
[ a sharp, dismissive gesture with her hand. ]
"Good" and "evil" - what was done before everyone was placed in the program can never be erased, but you should perhaps try to understand that our futures do not need to mirror our pasts. If you wish to destroy yourself, that's one thing...but, the rest of us will be doing our best for the world and those still asleep. That's really all you need to know.

[Which just meant that something better was due soon. Something would make up for it. A better option would come around and Hope would be preserved. There wasn't a reason to try the same thing again, whatever happened, eventually... the end result would be the same. There would be Hope. The world would become a better place. That he had utmost confidence in. However... he didn't want to doubt everyone. He knew someone... someone wasn't garbage like the rest of them. Someone was deserving of admiration. He needed to know who....]
What harm would it do to just tell me? That person... I want to think fondly of them. I want someone... one of us, to be worthy.
[That his sacrifice had been for a person he at least liked. But the way Sonia was she wasn't going to tell him. He knew that much. Arguing would do nothing.]
People don't just change, they can't. You can't change who you are. It's just a false truth to think that way. The past inevitably repeats itself, history is full of it. Those who commit atrocities, will do it again. How can I trust anyone who fell into despair when they were to be embodiments of Hope?
[He should have just died and stayed dead. When was his time going to run out? He was getting tired of being disappointed.]
Where is Hinata kun... is he awake as well? I assume so, if you are here.
[Though... he wasn't sure what he wanted to hear. Yes? No? Both? Neither?]

[ the traitor didn't approve of his actions either, after all. nanami chiaki had never once wanted any of them to die - and she'd given herself over for that exact reason. ]
I absolutely refuse to be the person you insist I must be. Those of us who were there at the final trial...all agreed that we would be better than we once were. It would be good if you would one day attempt the same.
[ she's unsure if hinata deserves komaeda being inflicted on him. but. ]
There are four of us awake and here all told. Hinata-san is one of them.

[Even if there were things that made him think about it. He tensed up thinking about it, clenching his right hand rightly, though keeping both of them in his pockets.
Extremely unlucky.]
So... Hinata kun is here.
[He started to laugh, it was hollow though. Hinata kun... of course. Someone like Hinata kun would have to be here. It was the only answer.]
So even boring reserve course....
[He didn't finish his sentence, his heart just wasn't quite into it. It had been easier to be mean to Hinata when he was there in front of him and he could focus on his anger. But now? It was too hard to muster up. In the end, it was a lot of effort to keep that hate going.]
He really is a protagonist character.
[He was still laughing, but he was crying as well.]

[ they certainly shouldn't be allowed to define themselves like that. it doesn't seem to end well, and it means they miss things falling through the cracks. ]
At any rate, I think I will be leaving now before you say something even odder...if you wish to speak as classmates at another point without repeatedly insulting all of us, however, you are welcome to find me to speak to later.
[ her eyes flick to his hand - enoshima junko's - but there's only a small frown. ]
But before I leave - I have been told that a woman known as Miss Valentine is the best doctor on base. You should contact her if you plan to do something about that, rather than acting on your own.
no subject
[It was the only thing he had. If he didn't believe in them.... Still. That wasn't what he had meant. But he didn't expect Sonia to understand. No one understood. No one would ever understand. It was a pointless battle to even try.]
I don't want to see any doctors....
[Though it should probably be forced, left to himself he would probably end up doing something horrible.]
But, you don't need to worry. Nothing connects us anymore, so there's no reason for us to talk. Since it's all over....
no subject
[ although. she is not sure. she wants to sit through a komaeda rant... ]
Even if you say nothing connects us, we are still classmates. If you do not believe you can move on from the past, then why do you so easily believe you can move on from those connections?
[ wait. shit. she didn't want to talk. instead she snaps out an order:
You will see Miss Valentine about that hand of yours before you do anything rash! I do not know what sort of rash thing you might do, but...do not do something that would lead to your death. We may not be friends, but I do not wish for your death. ...That said, if you attempt to kill any of us once again I will be very annoyed with you.
no subject
He ignored the first part, but sighed at the order. He wasn't particularly compelled to follow it, but, he would give in.]
Oh? Like cutting it off? I did think of doing that.
[He said it in a chipper tone at odds with the conversation.
Since you insist though, I'll comply. But please understand this much, I have no reason to try and kill any of you so there's no reason to worry about that. However, I can't promise how long I'll be here with you all, so my ending will just be inevitable.
no subject
I understand wanting her hand gone, but trying to do so on your own would have been a terrible idea! [ she's. not sure she believes the killing thing because his reasons for doing anything are hard to comprehend, but okay. ] I also think it is likely foolhardy to do something that would take you away from here, but...I will not interfere in your business.
no subject
[This was easier. Brushing over this like it was nothing.]
Oh, I have no control, it's an event that was set into motion years before anything even started. It's even over do. I'm quite surprised! It's like one of those movies where you watch a cursed tape, you don't know when your time will run out, but it will eventually. You can't do anything to stop it, the ghost will come to get you no matter where you go. Alas, there's no tape to share with anyone. But then, isn't it cruel to share such a thing? Isn't it better to just be the last person in the chain to watch it?
I rather liked those movies.

[ she assumes that would be the case, anyway. sonia brightens, because of course she does. ]
Oooh! You mean "Ring"? I did not know you were a horror film fan, Komaeda-san! You also saw "Rasen"? Which one did you like better?
no subject
[Sort of like his luck.]

[ ??? where did this conversation go. ]

[ They discovered they actually had a mutual interest? ]

I do not think such a thing would be terribly difficult to organize...
[ especially if she delegates it to someone else. ]

[He liked mysteries, he liked suspense and he liked horror, but when horror got realistic it was just uncomfortable and hard to enjoy. It was nice to know Sonia wasn't too attatched to the idea of something with a serial killer at the moment.]
I look forward to the event.
[Somehow, their meeting ended on a positive note? If only it could be so simple with everyone.]
no subject
[ he already agreed but she feels a reminder is...necessary. ]
I will see you later, Komaeda-san. Please try not to get into too much trouble until then.
[ with a brief curtsy she's off... ]
no subject
Oh I will be on my best behavior.
[Or he will try to do what he thought was best behavior. It wasn't like he had the best judgement for that.
He slowly waved her off, and though he didn't get one of the most pressing questions he had answered, he did feel positive about this meeting. Perhaps... yes, good luck would definitely come!]
