[It's like island mode except everything is terrible? They've arranged to meet on one of the sand bars outside of the base, outside of URSULA's transmission range. Which... is probably not the safest thing, considering Sonia is literally the most capable fighter of the group and also Nagito is there. But it's fine? It's fine.

Hajime's perched on the edge of the sand bar, having escorted Sonia there as promised. He looks rather apprehensive, but resigned. Because this is something they all have to talk about, as a class. What there is of them, anyway.]

I think it's fair to say that none of our memories are going to exactly match up. Should we... start with that?

I believe I am the furthest ahead, with Souda-san just a little behind me...unless I am mistaken? Though, if everyone says the last thing they remember...my memory would be the end of the final trial.

Like I said, I thought Komaeda's trial was supposed to be the last one . . . but that's mine.

[He feels sick inside, sitting cross-legged on the sand and trying to focus all of his attention on anything but Komaeda.]

[He finally nods over at Nagito, without actually looking at him directly.]

...I can't remember what Souda's talking about at all. The last thing I remember is... you, wanting to kill every one of us by blowing up the island.

[Also he literally remembers the island actually exploding but that seems to be fake based on the memories of the other two??? He's so confused.

Unlike Kazuichi, though, he does look directly at Nagito. Here we are.]

[Why was Kazuichi nodding in his direction? As if he would tell them something like that. Though Hinata thinking something like that was just hurtful.]

I think it's rather obvious what my last memory was. I don't really have much more to offer. However, Hinata kun, do you seriously still believe that was real? I'm disappointed in you. But, I suppose a reserve course student wouldn't manage much more.

[He paused a moment to move on.]

Though, does this mean I'm allowed to know who the traitor is now?

We will get to that in a little bit..."traitor" is an inaccurate term, anyway. Which I will explain...

So, it is Tsumiki-san [ who seems not crazy so probably. is pre...that. ], Hinata-san, Komaeda-san, Souda-san, then me...in terms of timeline placement. Am I misunderstanding something, or is that accurate to everyone?

[This is, believe it or not, Souda's first time outside of the base, even though he's been here over half a month now. He'd needed to be pried outside into the water—look, it's full of things! Wildlife things! Dangerous things! He's been perfectly happy to stay in the base where it's safe and he's surrounded by machine parts all the time, which is honestly a pretty ideal world for him.

It could be a little more ideal, though. Komaeda could have been a dream after all . . .

Oh well. The point is, he's outside now, for the first time, and while he's not thrilled about it, he's a little high on having made it even to a sand bar safely. The wet suit thing is new to him, but he can handle these, unlike . . . any of the vehicles. (That's going to limit his mobility some. Yikes.)

It's actually nice being outside, now that he's been talked into it. When he's not dealing with all the heavy shit they've met to discuss, he lies on his back in the sand and stares up at the sky, taking deep breaths, helmet cradled in his arm.]

I . . . I made it . . . nothin' ate me . . . take that, ocean!

[ sonia adamantly refused to swim to the sandbar since she felt taking a vehicle that could...also be a weapon...was a good idea for her personally so. hinata probably got to go with her in that? unless he refused? and she sure does have a reasonably impressive gun on her person but look you don't get to be a princess of a country that expects gradeschoolers to drive tanks if you can't use a gun. so.

she also brought a blanket to use in picnic style and sits carefully on that, her legs tucked gracefully to the side and the gun probably in her lap. um. ]

I brought snacks in case we run overlong...

[It takes like, no time at all for Souda to move over to sit next to Sonia, a little too close for comfort. Snacks are a secondary concern here, but a great excuse . . . not that he's ever needed one of those.]

That's Sonia-san! Always prepared, right? Our stomachs owe you their lives! That's why you're our leader now!

[Aaaand now she's the leader. Congrats?]

Hajime just kind of looks at Kazuichi. Wow bro. Doubting his protag skills.

Except not really because Hajime certainly doesn't see himself as their protag.]

If Sonia doesn't want to be the leader, that's fine. It's not like there's so many of us here that we really need a single leader, right?

[Togami isn't here to step up and take command, and there's only five of them, so?]

[He grumbles, grabbing something to eat for himself. Way to make him look like a loser in front of Sonia, Hinata! Something he's never ever done all by himself!

Kazuichi's not sure whether to say anything else at first, but after a few beats of chewing . . well, there is something on his mind, and these are the two he'd want to bring it up to.]

Y-yeah, fine, but . . . how many more of us d'you guys think might show up? Do you think it could be—everyone, if we wait long enough?

[With Mikan's memories, she wasn't really sure who made it and who hadn't. So with every student that shows up and every familiar face she recognizes, she relaxes more and smiles. After all, compared to the last place where they were all together, this is fantastic. No murder trials! No killer bears!]

Heehee. This is nice. I can't remember the last time I felt like this...like... like maybe everything really will be okay.

[Geez. Here they are to talk about all of this, with Komaeda here of all people, but . . . it's hard to be entirely negative with the girls around. Sonia is Sonia! Obviously! That speaks for itself! But Tsumiki . . . it gives Kazuichi some heart to even hear her say that maybe everything will be okay. No matter what else is going on, seeing other people have hope gives him some too. He sits upright and grins over at her, doing his best to be reassuring.]

I'm even starting to take it for granted again that nothin's trying to kill me anymore! I . . . I really didn't know if I'd ever feel that way again, but I do!

[Yes, she's happy to see him too. She's reluctant to sit right away, not wanting to trip on the sand and ruin everything, but she fidgets in place.]

Th-That's right! We don't have a reason to kill each other anymore! We can do things that normal people do.

[Granted, this is... still not a normal environment in any sense of the word, and she still has trouble understanding 'normal people', but, HEY, let's be positive.]

[That pops out of his mouth before he can bite it back. His sourness isn't aimed at her, though, and she's right: even if this isn't normal, at all, hasn't he been doing things normal people do? At least moreso than he was back on the island? He scratches his cheek, a little sheepish.]

But—since wakin' up here, I've gotten to work on all kinds of machines again! I bet you've gotten to nurse people, too!

Oh, yes! The medbay here is very advanced! And... there's a disease out there I'm trying to cure! It's so much fun, taking all those blood samples...

So that's the kind of thing a nurse thinks is fun . . .

[Shudder. He keeps the shudder on the downlow as best he can, but it's still there. Just thinking about all those needles! The part about the disease isn't that great either! Though that's definitely important, isn't it?]

You mean the disease Hinata had? I heard a lot of people came down with that. The med bay was pretty full when I got here, but I think I mostly missed it. If that's my good luck for this month, I'll take it!

Mm! Regardless of the situation, as long as we work together, I believe it will be all right...after all, with you and Komaeda-san both well, we have made more progress than I should have expected...

Especially considering none of us had any time to do much beyond wake up here.

[Nagito hadn't expected to be invited to the little meeting, but in the end he was a member of the class and it made sense to have him along too.

It was actually a relief to be outside the base, the worry and anxiety he felt when under water eased. They wouldn't drown here.]

It's rather pleasant out here.

[He raised his hand to look out at the water, his left hand left at his side, though now there was a glove on it at least. He had yet to deal with it, but at least he hadn't cut it off himself yet.]
