So, you know, a lot's been happening lately, and I don't know about you guys, but I've been thinking this place is missing something.

[ she puts a finger to her lips and lets a few seconds tick by to keep everyone in Suspense, as if this is some sort of huge and monumental idea. which it is. ]

Can someone tell me why there's no place a girl can get a mug of beer around here? Y'know, a bar? Doesn't anyone else miss alcohol? I know, I know, drink responsibly and all that, but... seriously, nothing? Plus, I'm sure at least one of us knows how to make a decent cocktail.

[ she shakes her head with an exasperated sigh. ]

There has to be some good stuff around here somewhere. I'm not picky. You think URSULA keeps a hidden stash?

[ URSULA, she hopes you can hear her. also, rose knows that the answer is an extremely probable no, but what's the harm in tossing the (still, very low, close to nonexistent low) possibility out there. ]

Everything is just... way too tense. Some of you could probably stand to lighten up a little. So since no one else has done it, I'm proposing the idea of a serious addition to the base.

[ is alcohol even a thing here...... ? it'd better be or else she's going to be kind of pissed? ]

I mean, as long as there's a way to make sure people don't abuse it, I'm sure it'd be fine. I don't know what the drinking age is where you're from, but in Japan, it's twenty. I think most countries have it somewhere around there.

Finally, someone is reasonable. Everyone is being such a stick about this.

Pretty sure it's eighteen? I mean, if anything comes of this, URSULA can decide on one, right? For some reason people aren't electing me to make that sort of decision. Really don't see what the problem is, but whatever, I guess.

[ pretend jrpg lands don't have drinking ages so that's what i'm going with but rose has just been dicking around her whole life so she's probably been drinking since like thirteen. hinata doesn't need to know that, though! ]

If enough people are against it, that's a good reason not to do it, isn't it...?

But yeah, I don't have a problem with that. One advantage of having an AI that can monitor the entire base is that it should be pretty easy to institute controls. I guess the most important thing is making sure those controls are reasonable.

[No one wants URSULA pulling out a Gatling gun any time someone's had too much to drink.]

Well, I'll just have to change their minds! Talk about the more practical uses of alcohol, or something. It could be handy to have around.

The thing is, I've sort of never spoken to URSULA besides the obligatory meet and greet, let along asked any favors. I didn't even know what an AI was up until recently. So. I might need some help with that part?

If you just say "hey Ursula" or something anywhere in the base, she can hear you. She's literally everywhere.

[He doesn't exactly sound thrilled about that, but so it goes.]

She likes to work with people as far as I can tell, so I'm sure you could just ask, explain the benefits for the crew, and then she'd support you.

Just so you know, that's way more unsettling than anything else.

But... I guess that's reasonable? I dunno. I'll give it a shot. Still kinda creeped out about the whole "literally everywhere" thing, though.

Yeah, me too. I had no idea how much I took privacy for granted until I didn't have any.

But yeah, give it a try. Like I said, I don't have a problem with it as long as it's not abused.

In a sense, I guess I already knew what it's like to people hanging around in your head and speaking telepathically all the time, but this is a little more extreme. Long story, though.
