Open Mingle! an informal event, or: massive sleepover
Evening, October 10
Following Hajime (Number 2)'s announcement, the Hajimes have worked together to take over the game room/rec room and dance floor. Hopefully no one had any dances or performances planned, because they've taken most of the spare pillows and blankets and hauled them in to cover the floor. And probably made some extra just for this event.
There are snacks! There's the game room! There's enough space to sleep and maybe get close to someone! It's a mingle for a sleepover. The Hajimes are hoping that people will feel better if they go to sleep knowing someone is close by, and maybe if people sleep in close enough proximity, they'll wake up in the dreamscape together and be able to ward off nightmares together. Who knows!
Go wild. But not too wild, there are Children on this base.

Hah, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
[Cute Hajime just has a Way about her that he's certain makes people want to do what she says? And makes anything she says sound like a good idea.
He inches a little closer until his shoulder bumps against hers, and points to the drawing.]
If he's going to have a top hat, you should give him a monocle, too.
no subject
[ she goes to rectify this grave oversight, adding the little monocle over one of his eyes. ]
Are you doing okay?
no subject
[He glances toward her, resting his chin on his hand. Then he offers a one-shoulder shrug.]
About as well as can be expected, with these nightmares still going on... What about you?
no subject
[ not that she ever said there was a problem to begin with but. now hinata knows she feels better now? so that's a thing. ]
no subject
She really isn't the type to tell him her problems, is she... he huffs a quiet laugh through his nose and shifts a little closer, carefully letting his head rest against her shoulder.]
I'm glad to hear it. If it helps even one person... I think it's worth it.
no subject
[ that is not the point of this sleepover at all. why is everyone treating it like a normal sleepover.
she starts to doodle something else on the page... if hinata looks at it, he will see that it looks familiar. because it's him. she's drawing him. ]
no subject
[That does look familiar... yep, that's him. And it brings a little bit of a silly smile to his face, because he doesn't think anyone's ever tried to draw him before.]
Are you going to put a top hat on me, too?
no subject
[ a bowler, perhaps. or maybe a cowboy? since cowboys are cool, hinata....
she makes sure he looks happy in the picture. ]
no subject
You can pick whatever you want. I don't really wear hats all that often. They mess up my hair...
[Also there's the (not so) real danger that his ahoge might pierce any kind of fabric?]
no subject
Do you have any siblings?
[ why is she so hyper focused on this question? (it's magnus' fault) ]
no subject
[He blinks, because he has no idea where this could have come from.]
Uh, no, I'm an only child. Do you? Have any siblings, I mean.
no subject
[ will she explain where this question came from?
no, no she will not. ]
no subject
[Nope. Apparently she's not going to explain.]
Why do you ask?
no subject
[ she leaves out like half the conversation but okay. ]
no subject
[O...kay then.
He shifts to rest his head a little more comfortably on her shoulder, watching her draw.]
You must miss her a lot, huh? Your mom.
no subject
Mmhm. I moved out of our house when I became a Gatchaman, so I didn't see her as often as I used to! I'm probably a bad daughter, aren't I?
no subject
I don't think that makes you a bad daughter... I'm sure she's really proud of you. I mean, I don't know too much about it, but what you've told me about being a, uh, "Gatchaman" is... really incredible.
no subject
[ hajime adds a few hearts around the picture. ]
But being a Gatchaman is like, a feeling, you know! Anyone can be Gatcha, like you.
no subject
He's going to try not to focus on that.]
What kind of feeling is a Gatchaman? I don't think you ever explained that.
[He'd kind of freaked out about her turning into a power ranger and never learned that.]
no subject
Do you ever see something and you have to do something about it? Maybe a little kid fell and scraped his knee, and everyone is too busy to stop and help him back up. So you go and do it. Or you step into stop a robbery even though you know it's dangerous to interfere. Or you just smile at someone who looks like they're having a bad day. That's what being a Gatchaman is all about!
[ hajime sets the pencil and notebook down. ]
Being a Gatchaman is about love and peace! My friend Rui-kun says it's about updating the world, and being the change that's needed to make sure we're all in a better place. I think we all have different opinions on what's needed to be done to update it, but we still work together despite those differences because in the end, we all want the same thing. So that we can all become one, while still being ourselves! Got it?
no subject
[He hums quietly, listening to her explanation and absorbing it. He... doesn't get how the power ranger suit and that whole business with shoving literal notebooks into people's chests works, but he can respect that kind of mission. It does sound kind of like what his plans for the future are, anyway.]
So I guess we just call it different things. I think where we come from, the change that's needed to make sure we're in a better place... that's usually just called Hope.
no subject
[ she nudges him back. ]
I have a sixth sense for this.
[ she does not. ]
no subject
[Are you an esper Hajime... Hinata is the wrong Dangan protag to react to that line though.
He just. nudges her again. As you do.]
Does that mean you're going to shove a notebook in my chest?
no subject
[ not that she can do that. hajime only know two people with the power to actually remove the NOTE from someone. she can totally do the shoving it in part on her own though. ]
You don't seem to like my NOTE very much though! So yours can stay where it is.
no subject
[He has enough issues with his soul, according to Dirk. No need to go messing around with it even more.
There's a pause as he glances to her though, almost puzzled.]
What do you mean, I don't seem to like your NOTE?
