Open Mingle! an informal event, or: massive sleepover

Evening, October 10

Following Hajime (Number 2)'s announcement, the Hajimes have worked together to take over the game room/rec room and dance floor. Hopefully no one had any dances or performances planned, because they've taken most of the spare pillows and blankets and hauled them in to cover the floor. And probably made some extra just for this event.

There are snacks! There's the game room! There's enough space to sleep and maybe get close to someone! It's a mingle for a sleepover. The Hajimes are hoping that people will feel better if they go to sleep knowing someone is close by, and maybe if people sleep in close enough proximity, they'll wake up in the dreamscape together and be able to ward off nightmares together. Who knows!

Go wild. But not too wild, there are Children on this base.

What type of interference do you mean? Like bang! Or something else?

[ at least she's pretty careful with the brushing. there is no needless yanking going on here. ]

[His hair was wild, but he did at least make sure it wasn't a matted mess. Though, that was about the most he bothered with it.]

Oh, that would be a good idea! I wouldn't mind if he tried to shoot me. That might even be the perfect test. But yes, whatever is attempted should definitely be dangerous and life threatening.

[ she lightly bops him on the head with the brush. ]

That is definitely not what I suggested, by the way! [ and then she immediately goes back to brushing. ] What do you have in mind?

[He winces not really sure what he said to spur that sort of response.]

Have in mind? I'm not really sure. Honestly I don't think Hinata has the ability to try anything that would be needed. He never even tried to kill me once, even when there were several very good opportunities to set up a perfect murder.

Do you mean back when you were at school together?

[ hinata definitely does not seem like a murderer to hajime, so that's not surprising. he seemed pretty traumatized but the events that happened there, even.

she may have put down the brush and is just flat out braiding his hair now. they are kind of tiny braids. ]

No, not at school. We were never at school together. At least, I don't believe we were. Even if I can't remember my school life I know he wasn't in my class and not part of the main course.

[Was he going to have a lot of tiny braids?]

[ yes. the hair ties she's using are all flowery, btw, so that's a thing. ]

What about the school trip?

[He didn't mind flowery hair ties or anything, but multiple little braids? Wouldn't that be a bit stupid looking?]

Oh, the Mutual Killing game? Yes! I had been really hopeful that he would try and kill me. Because of everyone I really wanted to help him make an impossible to solve murder. And of course the best way to do that is to work with the Lucky Student. It only makes sense.

Though, it wasn't just him, no one took me up on my offer. I can't really blame them though, someone like me isn't really worth the time.

[ of course not? he is going to look so cool, okay. the most stylish person on base. ]

I don't know, something tells me that wasn't the reason they didn't kill you! Ah, although I've only met some of you, so I can't say for sure...

[ she pauses. she is partly wondering more about the murder game, especially since komaeda has been the only person so far who is very willingly giving information on it. she is also partly thinking that maybe she should have done space buns instead of braids?? hmm. ]

I'm happy he didn't kill you.

[Well, if it was going to be stylish he couldn't argue.]

Are you sure? I'm sure it's because they couldn't trust me and didn't like me. Hinata kun was simply the sort of person who couldn't do it. Which I think is a good trait of his. He's definitely a person who embodies hope!

[Komaeda didn't know when to not talk about certain things.]

I still died though, I just had to take matters into my own hands at that point.

What do you mean by that?

[ she has decided to go with the space buns anyway. so komaeda is going to have both that and braids?? yeah. ]

Your death, I mean.

Oh, I orchestrated my own murder. Though, I've heard a bit about afterwards, I don't really know it exactly. I woke up here after I died.

[ hajime bops him on the head again with the hairbrush. ]

That was very naughty of you! There was enough death in that game.

[He makes a little sounds, sort of complaining but not quite.]

Of course there was, but this was needed to end it.

Anyway, it was virtual... our bodies were still alive. Probably. Well, I know they are for a fact now.

Did you know they were virtual when you did that though?

I did. I found information everyone else didn't have, and knew the secret of our situation at that point.

And did you hold it from everyone then? That's not very nice.

There was a good reason to do so. It would have hurt them. So, of course the right thing would be to make it so they wouldn't know about it all.

Did not knowing actually work out for them in the end?

[ granted, he did say he doesn't know the full details of what happened so maybe he does not know... ]

I think they found out in the end. But, it was probably better for them to find out then as opposed to when I found out. That's what I think at least.

I fully believe that the way events transpired was definitely the best.

Well, I can't really argue with you about that! I wasn't there, after all.

[ sure, she still disagrees with him. but it's not like hajime is in any position to tell him whether or not what he did was best since she doesn't know the full picture. ]

Are you happy to be alive now?

I....

[He falters a bit. He wasn't really sure. On one hand it was within his assumptions as a probability, and within his fears as a certainty.]

I'm happy to be here.

[It was the best answer he could think of that he could say without any doubt.]

I'm happy that Hinata kun is here as well.

[ she notices that he didn't really answer her question, but she own't push that issue any further. ]

He must be really important to you.

Of course he is. He's always been the one to talk to me, and try and get to know me, despite everything.

[ well, that sounds like hinata. she smiles at that. ]

I'm super glad! You don't seem like you hang out with a lot of people.

[ ... she's blunt, i'm sorry. ]
