Feel free to ignore this until after the festivities, but since November starts tomorrow, I thought I'd ask what everyone is interested in including in the island base. Or what structures you would be interested in seeing around the island. So far all that we have planned to my knowledge are the watchtowers - the farm seems to be coming along and we should maybe consider fences or whatever there, but otherwise we don't actually have anything really set in stone.

You should feel free to throw anything out there, and to respond to anyone else. I'll just gradually be collecting the ideas from here and drawing up plans for you all, so long as what you're suggesting is actually within our power to do. But all things considered, I think most things are. This should also give everyone a chance to team up with anyone else who is doing something they wanted to do.

In terms of things I'm doing other than the watchtowers, an aboveground track and training area is something I was personally interested in. To start us off.

Uh huh. And I'm sure it's the most historically accurate bucket. [He knows how Annabeth is? It's not a competition but everything with Annabeth is a competition.] Still doesn't count if it's not filled with candy though. And NOT the candy you started with.

Someplace where they can be warm would be good? I don't know, I haven't had to deal with cats before until the last few months.

Maybe much later, after people have the places that are important set up, something like a small inn with hotspring baths?

Would you think that would be better near the mountain area or one of the lakes? Making the springs shouldn't be an issue, so location can be flexible. It'd give people a place to stay if they're out and about on the island.

We do seem to have a lot of cats. A house with lots of cat...maze things and ledges should work?

I need space zoned off for a carnival fair ground. On the waterfront, preferably. We need a pier.
I need the space for at least a ferris wheel and an arcade, but I'd like to install a carousel as well.
Let me know if you have any favorite attractions you want installed.

Are you planning rigged games?

That we replicate the inanities of our forefathers does not mean we need repeat their sins.
Like, what kind of asshole would rig games kids like Chihiro are gonna play?

I almost have an anti-request but I'm afraid to give you ideas.

That said, Percy would probably enjoy some kind of water ride if we're talking attractions. I always liked the throwing games. It's hard to rig things against talent.

If it's not too much trouble, could I ask for a part of the farm on the island to be sectioned off for herbs and spices?

[ Hotaru is very grateful for Dave and his farm, but she prefers plants and to plant in a more open field. She'd also like to ask for an area for a flower garden, but she thinks that's a little too inane to request. ]

That would be easy enough. Did you want anything else in terms of the farm? I don't handle the growing or whatever but it's easy enough to direct the boys who do.

No, I don't want to take over the farm and I don't know all the seeds we have on hand. I was hoping for plots for medicinal herbs, herbs for cooking, spices... something along those lines. I'm still researching how farming works in general, especially with this climate.

I don't want to put all the work on others for what I want, so I'll try my hand at it, too.

How about a library building? Or maybe a park?

[No he didn't have any good ideas, but these were things he liked. He did see something he completely agreed with though.]

I would also like to second the idea of an amusement park or fair ground. It would be a nice place to visit. We could also maybe have festivals there. Maybe something in time for New Years?

Food and water storage? Like ration packs. And shelters. For emergencies.

A waterfall would make for a rather pleasant installation.
More seriously, some might appreciate an astronomical observatory. Not myself, mind, but it might be handy? Or just a good way to have a look at the stars.
A library building as previously suggested would be nice, since while the base library is sufficient a whole building dedicated to books above ground could be handy. As would storage for in the event that the base collapses and leaves us all stranded.

I think expanding on what we have is probably a safe bet. We figured out how to get fresh water or some of the islands, so that's a start! I can help out some, too, I'm pretty good at building things. A training area could be pretty great.

thanks for organizing all of this!!! we have a lot of stuff in the underwater base already, but maybe we can move some of it up onto the island. we've had some flooding during hurricanes before and it would stink if all of the books or the food supplies were ruined because we didn't move it above water.
