DECEMBER 2ND, birthday armageddon action mingle
So, anyone in the entertainment room area come December 2nd will be subjected to a ridiculous clash of colors and decorations. While the only advertisement was word-of-mouth, it's a six-way birthday party although none of the guests of honor seem to care if people actually celebrate their birthdays; it's possible to just come by for cake and/or random hangouts. The room seems to be divvied up into six pie slices with decorations, with a table in the middle with six cakes. The slices are kind of variable but easy enough to match up to their respective "owner": Jade's is neon green paired with white decoration-wise and seems to mostly be dog themed, although there's also more glitter in her slice than anywhere else; Jake's is less neon green paired with black and the collective Dave-and-Rose decoration committee apparently decided skulls was as good a theme as anything; Dave's is red and black and records although also just really dumb sbahj drawings which tbh have infected the other slices aside from Rose's; Dirk's is orange-and-white and robots; Rose's is purple-and-black and wizards and octopi; Roxy's is pink-and-white and cats and wizards. None of the decorations really seem intended to mesh with any other slices' decorations at all?
The cakes are equally mismatched, although some of them work together. Jade got a Bec-head shaped cake; Jake got another...skull...THEY TRIED, OKAY JAKE; Dave elected himself for hella jeff; Dirk got assigned sweet bro because Rose couldn't convince Dave to Not; Rose herself got a very disturbing octopus tentacle thing, what the fuck Rose; and Roxy got a cat.
There are like six pinatas in various colors and some party games and a movie marathon that seems to have literally no theme beyond being chosen by Dave and Rose and therefore the theme might actually be "what movie will annoy my sibling most" back and forth. So there's. Just a super variety of stuff there. And there's music which Dave seems to have been in control of, although most of it is lowkey so that's nice???
Sorry if you wanted to do something in this room related to not this hot mess today, BUT AT LEAST THEY'RE NOT DOING SIX SEPARATE PARTIES??? Also there are party hats in the colors of each slice (with a dumb paper crown in slice colors for each birthday kid) so pick your poison. There's a generic and very messy "HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY" banner so apparently it's just. 6 17s? Nice.

[ this time, ada is sticking around to make sure dirk both got the gift and took a peek inside it. if only because eve is flustered about this and is begging ada to not stick around. (it is ada's job to embarrass her little sister somehow. she doesn't do it often and she cherishes the chances that she can.)
she passes along the parcel to him, this big box covered in bright orange wrapping paper. while it isn't the exact shade of his chosen font colour but came close enough to it that ada had to squint her eyes while passing it along. seeing the colours in real life are a far different experience than seeing them on a screen.
but to the contents of the package:
his cake, of course. keeping with the dominant colour theme she seemed to have going on, the sweet cake was decorated with orange frosting that eve took time to make sure resembled roses.
inside the box is a crocheted backpack, the backpack containing two items inside: one of the being a crocheted/knitted horse doll. the other one is a small glass bottle filled with origami stars. if dirk takes the time to unfold a few of the stars, he'll see that eve wishes him to have certain qualities and things to happen to him this year and beyond: happiness, joy, victory, etc. there's a lot of stars in here and somehow she's managed to always find something to wish for him.
finally, tucked underneath everything inside the box, is a handmade birthday card eve had made. opening it will reveal a pop up of a detailed tree with orange and red leaves. while her handwriting is at its faintest here, barely seeable on the white paper of the card, her words are sincere.
she wishes him a happy year and thanks him for everything he's done for not only her and ada but for everyone on the base since his arrival. he means a lot to her and she hopes she's made those feelings of friendship clear with the items she's made for him and hopes he has a happy year ahead since he deserves it and more.
happy birthday dirk! ]

There really isn't any emoting, except maybe the slightest hint of an upturned corner as he goes through the items. He doesn't open the glass bottle because he assumes it's actually like those ships in bottles things and you aren't supposed to touch them? He is an inexperienced child. But when he gets it all out, and reads the card, he looks back up at Ada.]
This is some seriously thoughtful shit. Can you pass on to her that I love it?
[He's pretty sure Eve can hear him, but he'll keep up the pretence for the 'twins.']

but when she does, once in a blue moon or during the biggest birthday party she's ever been in, it's there. it's there and it suddenly isn't difficult to understand that she and eve are sisters despite how different their temperaments are. ] Trust me, I'll let her know.
Eve was tuckered out when she was making these for you and the others and ended up sleeping. [ a pause while she looks around, making sure no one is eavesdropping for whatever reason. ] In a sense. She's somewhat aware of what's happening today.

She did an awesome job. As long as she knows they're appreciated, we're good.
