DECEMBER 2ND, birthday armageddon action mingle

So, anyone in the entertainment room area come December 2nd will be subjected to a ridiculous clash of colors and decorations. While the only advertisement was word-of-mouth, it's a six-way birthday party although none of the guests of honor seem to care if people actually celebrate their birthdays; it's possible to just come by for cake and/or random hangouts. The room seems to be divvied up into six pie slices with decorations, with a table in the middle with six cakes. The slices are kind of variable but easy enough to match up to their respective "owner": Jade's is neon green paired with white decoration-wise and seems to mostly be dog themed, although there's also more glitter in her slice than anywhere else; Jake's is less neon green paired with black and the collective Dave-and-Rose decoration committee apparently decided skulls was as good a theme as anything; Dave's is red and black and records although also just really dumb sbahj drawings which tbh have infected the other slices aside from Rose's; Dirk's is orange-and-white and robots; Rose's is purple-and-black and wizards and octopi; Roxy's is pink-and-white and cats and wizards. None of the decorations really seem intended to mesh with any other slices' decorations at all?

The cakes are equally mismatched, although some of them work together. Jade got a Bec-head shaped cake; Jake got another...skull...THEY TRIED, OKAY JAKE; Dave elected himself for hella jeff; Dirk got assigned sweet bro because Rose couldn't convince Dave to Not; Rose herself got a very disturbing octopus tentacle thing, what the fuck Rose; and Roxy got a cat.

There are like six pinatas in various colors and some party games and a movie marathon that seems to have literally no theme beyond being chosen by Dave and Rose and therefore the theme might actually be "what movie will annoy my sibling most" back and forth. So there's. Just a super variety of stuff there. And there's music which Dave seems to have been in control of, although most of it is lowkey so that's nice???

Sorry if you wanted to do something in this room related to not this hot mess today, BUT AT LEAST THEY'RE NOT DOING SIX SEPARATE PARTIES??? Also there are party hats in the colors of each slice (with a dumb paper crown in slice colors for each birthday kid) so pick your poison. There's a generic and very messy "HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY" banner so apparently it's just. 6 17s? Nice.

i'm....i'm so sorry

But you are still ripping out her insides, which is basically the same concept!

[ he unwraps a piece of candy and sticks it in his mouth. ]

Fucking barbaric.
cuteandquarky: (big anime eyes)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2016-12-31 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not barbaric! The incisions are very precise and they stitch her up again afterwords! We don't stitch up... the pinatas...

[Jade looks down at the pinata. It looks back up at her with pitiful, paper mache eyes. The part of Jade Harley's heart that loves stuffed animals suddenly goes into overdrive.]

Oh my god, we need to stitch up the pinata. It's hurt!

[ what

he glances down at it, unsure of how they will save it after they took out its innards. ]

Do you have shit to stitch it up with?
cuteandquarky: (:o!!)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2016-12-31 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Not on hand, I guess, but... there's probably something to stitch it up on the ship, right? Or glue? I bet glue would work too!

[ karkat goes to pick up a piece of the pinata.... and watches as even more candy falls out of it ]

We can still eat its insides though right?
cuteandquarky: (smug)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2016-12-31 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, of course. It is made out of paper. It does not need the candy to function.

[Jade goes to help him properly empty out the pinata before its reattachment surgery takes place, teleporting some pieces of candy back to her workstation for future consumption.]

[ karkat is silent for a few seconds before looking back at jade ]

So if you weren't a player in the game, you would have been forced out of some tunnel in a lady's womb egg?

[ he's still stuck on this ]
cuteandquarky: (box hands)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2016-12-31 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess so! Though if I weren't a player in the game, I guess I would not have ever been born in the first place?

[A pause.]

I think it's called a "placenta," though. Not a "womb egg."

What the fuck, that sounds even worse.

And also kind of like pinata. I told you it's the same thing!
cuteandquarky: (say that to my face)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2016-12-31 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not the same at all! Placenta is a scientific name and piñata is... not!

[She doesn't really know where the word piñata came from, but she assumes it's not scientific.]

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-01 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that sounds a little unfair to me. What makes placenta so scientific?
cuteandquarky: (i have an idea!)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-01 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... it refers to a biological thing! Biology is science. A pinata is just a very cute paper craft thing, and is not very scientific.

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-02 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, Jade, you sound very craftist there.
cuteandquarky: (rant time)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-02 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[why do all of their interactions end up like this]

That's not craftist! I am sure the crafstmanship of the pinata is very good but... it's not a discipline of science!

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-02 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ at least that serious thread did not???? ]

Maybe they had to go to pinata school to learn how to make it, Jade. They could have spent four years learning the delicate and detailed art of pinata making and you are shitting all over their degree.
cuteandquarky: (i have an idea!)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-02 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You just said it yourself! It is an art, not a science. And art is very good and very important, but that does not make it a science!
alienates: art @ nymphicus (Default)

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-02 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a science to making art!

[ karkat is completely talking out of his ass the only artist worst than him is fuckin caliborn ]
cuteandquarky: (say that to my face)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-02 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No there isn't! Science is all about facts and observations, and art is about feelings and inspiration. Both are good, and sometimes they can come together, but the pinata is not one of those times!
alienates: art @ nymphicus (Default)

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-02 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, facts and observations. Well, it is a fact that in order to get the candy out of the pinata, you have to hit it with the stick. And I observed you doing so, which proves that fact.
cuteandquarky: (someones wrong on the internet)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-02 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You have explained the physical phenomenon behind a pinata but that does not make it science! Otherwise literally everything would be science.
alienates: art @ nymphicus (Default)

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-02 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, so, Harley. Explain to me why everything can't be science.
cuteandquarky: (talkin)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-03 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Because that makes "science" a useless term. If everything was science, then we would just call it "everything." Giving it another name would be redundant.
alienates: art @ nymphicus (Default)

[personal profile] alienates 2017-01-03 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't there like, science in everything that we do? Like I am pretty sure me eating this candy has science involved somehow. I feel like that is a thing.
cuteandquarky: (wha)

[personal profile] cuteandquarky 2017-01-03 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I... guess...?

[He's not straight-up wrong anyways.]

But just because there's science involve doesn't mean it is scientific.

Who died and put you in charge of science anyway?
