[Wowee! We get hit with a pulse on the seventh! Isn't that fun! Also, a ship crashed, and baby it's cold inside. Some prompts.

A: Pulse: A pulse hit the planet! Life support went out, and that super sucks, but it will only last for an hour. Maybe more sucky: some or all of your powers may or may not have died! That's awkward. Are you disappointed you can't walk through walls now? Has nothing changed for you? Are you now a dead girl because you made a deal some aliens? Are you a sword? Have fun kids, and try not to hold a Class Trial.

B: Salvage: That sure was a ship that went down! URSULA identified it as the Narcissus which is apparently a human military ship so obviously this will be safe and no one is going to come across any type of trouble salvaging the ship. Maybe someone should text Naoko to tell her what's going on. Everything is fine.

C: Blanket-sharing meme: You know what you're here for.

D: ETC: Roxy is putting up mistletoe, there are flowers, people keep building stupid things. Do whatever!]

But, with that said, I'm not sure if things should stay as they are. Doesn't it feel as if something should evolve or transform?

[He exhales a breath he hadn't realized he'd started to hold at that admission. He'd been half-afraid Komaeda would take it poorly after what they'd talked about before, but... he gave the other boy too little credit.

...Or too much, as his lips curve into a by-now-familiar exasperated smile. Bright hope all around, huh...?]

How do you mean, evolve or transform? Doesn't that kind of thing just happen naturally?

[He sinks back down to his chin in the water, tilting his head in curiosity about the last bit, rather than acknowledge that part about Hope.]

It does, but I suppose I don't exactly mean that. Things have changed. Though they haven't either. We have to acknowledge that much.

[It absolutely would be ignored for Hinata's convenience. But it's on the table now, so Hinata just relaxes back against the edge of the hot spring, giving the other boy yet another incredulous stare.

You don't have to do that. Your life is important, and I'm glad you want to trust me, but... I'm not going to take over every aspect of your life.

You know the only one on this entire base who thought you were trash was you, right? Everyone else is just angry about what you did, but no one else has dismissed your life as being without value. Right?

No one said that. You're jumping a bit ahead of yourself.

[He sighs and shakes his head. That was easy to say for the time.]

That's because they don't know enough. And they really shouldn't learn anything more. But, Hinata kun, there is no doubt that you have extended it beyond what it ever would have been.

[He sighs and shakes his head, a mirror of the other boy's gesture, and leans back to stare up at the ceiling instead, sinking more fully into the water.]

Well... I couldn't just sit by and do nothing. I've never been the kind of person who's able to just stand idly by when there's something I can try to do.

You like to meddle and make things the way you believe is right. That isn't necessarily wrong, however, it's also a bit selfish to do that. To change the world of someone else to fit your own desires. But, that sort of strong conviction is one of your positive traits. Regardless, in the end, you need to understand the aftermath of such actions.

[In other words, take responsibility.]

[You're calling it a positive trait but... you realize the way you're framing it makes it sound negative, right?]

I don't want your life, Komaeda, [he answers, glancing back with a small frown.] That's not what I intended at all. I want to be someone you can believe in, someone you can trust to help you do what's right, but... your life is still your own. You can decide to ignore me all you want, I'm not going to force you to do anything... as long as you're not hurting anyone else.

I'm just trying to look toward the future, Komaeda. That's all.

Hinata kun, this isn't about being forced to do anything. Do you understand?

[Obviously he didn't. How annoying. But, expected.]

But, there is a connection, no matter what. There isn't a future otherwise.

[Because, in the end, no matter what, regardless of anything else, he couldn't do anything on his own anyway. Nothing was safe.]

[He bites back a groan, tipping his head back to stare at the ceiling again. They're at some kind of bizarre impasse now, because while more than anything, Hinata just wants Komaeda to appreciate his own life as having value and move forward under his own power... it may just be that he's not yet capable of that.]

Alright. If you want to give me responsibility for... your life, I'll take it. And we'll keep moving forward, together. Whatever changes that brings.

That's all I ask for.

[There's a small smile as Hinata finally accepts. He was glad they could finally come to an agreement. Even if Hinata had been reluctant, he knew this was definitely the only way forward.]

[He sighs again and lets them lapse into silence, at least for the moment. Then he adds,]

I still want to ensure I can track you. There are going to be a lot of people who are going to want to know how I plan to make sure you won't do anything like this again.

[He glances back to the other boy, lips curved into an apologetic frown.]

I would rather be locked up than have something inserted somewhere strange. Even for you Hinata kun.

Simply put an automated alarm for particular areas and set it up based on the sensors. Ursula wouldn't even have to pay attention, it would run off the information already there. Yes, it would be meaningless outside her sensors, but I'm not going to go anywhere outside them. I can't even go very far, swimming isn't easy you know, it takes a lot of effort. As for using vehicles that is also a simple lock that can be done.

Should I explain more? I'm sure you can take this much and think up a more complex system, if someone such as I can do this feeble amount of reasoning it shouldn't be difficult.

If you want me to take responsibility for your life, I'm going to. That means if someone beats you up and leaves you on the floor to bleed to death, I need to know why you haven't moved from an area. I also need to be able to show I can tell where you are at all times.

And I'd rather stay away from the melodramatic like putting a collar around your neck that you can't take off.

I wouldn't mind that. You could probably set it up to do something like inject some sort of tranquilizer. Or, something similar around the wrist.

[But now he's thinking about it.]

Knowing you you're probably thinking about the prosthetic arm, which would be the worst choice. There is less to lose by removing it fully, and it's easier to inspect it since it's not flesh and blood. However, putting it somewhere else in the body would make it easier to find a foreign object, and removal would be a higher risk.

The best way would be to use nanites and implant something microscopic, that sort of technology exists, right?

Considering that... the best place would probably be implanting a tracker in my brain, you wouldn't even have to worry about damage! There;s a place perfectly fine for it to go. You could use nanites and thus the removal would be near impossible without nanite use, which of course would be restricted.

Something like that is too much like a killing game. I won't have any part of it.

It was already going to be microscopic to begin with. And I'm not telling you where it would be.
