[It's the calm before the storm—or at least the not-quite-so-bad-weather before the storm. The winds are starting to pick up, the ocean is rolling, and all manner of sea creature is heading for cover to ride things out.

But at the base, there's still lots to do as usual. Whether it's getting ready to hunker down, goofing off, or making friends, there's never a dull moment under the sea! Have at it, and remember to check out the OOC planning/mission signups to see what's going on!]

Oh? I haven't been paying much attention to those except for the instructional ones. Any recommendations?

There's a lot of them that are based off of fairy tales from Earth, like the Sleeping Beauty story. I thought watching some of those would give us a good idea of the modern interpretations of Earth mythology.

Fairytales and legends acted out on a screen? ...I'm game.

[it'll give them something to think about that isn't work and dragons, when they need it.]

I knew you would be! I'll see if there's a good place we can watch them.

If all else fails, there's always the computers.

Probably nothing we don't bring back ourselves, but maybe she has a blueprint for a really big computer box.

The drones might have better luck building it than us, but I can do some of the heavy lifting if they need it.

[How does one build a screen, Sorey sure doesn't know. Then he gets an idea]

Though if we do make one, we could put it in one of the empty rooms for everyone to use when they want. There's probably lots of movies people could watch in a big group. It'd be just like watching a play.

That's not a bad idea. A lot of the people here could explain the unfamiliar terms and cultural context and references in a movie as well to people who haven't encountered them before, so it would actually be a much more enriching experience to watch it in a group.

It would be a lot easier than pausing in the middle to look up the terms the characters are talking about.

[He's already had to do that with some of the books on base. And the memes.]

And it's more interesting to learn about it from someone living with those cultural references.

Even if we sometimes dig ourselves into a hole of explanations...

The explanations are worth it. It's what makes the whole thing an experience.

[And they at least have context even if they don't understand the appeal]

I'm no ancient architectural seraphim, but I don't think we'll have a lot of luck relying purely on technology with our limited scope of knowledge. Nor can we rely purely on magic or our own abilities, since we have to keep a distance here. We're already thinking about the hotspots, and Hotaru just mentioned perhaps magical shields for the base.

Obviously there's a lot of people here with a lot of capabilities, but for just our work...I don't know. Inlaid artes like we've seen in some of the ruins seen like the most direct means I can think of to combine the two things.

Yeah...even a few months isn't enough to catch us up to speed on this technology. I don't remember a specific method off the top of my head, but we may have enough to try experimenting with something small.

Check your notes first, all right? I'd hate to blow up the base accidentally.

That's the last thing I want to do! We'll focus on defense artes first just in case.
