POST-HURRICANE LOG | OPEN MINGLE

[Past the 9th of the month, the hurricane's finally blown itself out, leaving a great deal of mess behind (but at least, a lot less mess than there would have been without the crew's various antics, right?)

After the calm there's the storm, but after the storm, there's...uh, actually, it's not all that calm again yet. Look at all these notable goings on that you can play with:

SICK PEOPLE are still a thing. Are you still suffering from the ravages of alien cave flu? Finally finding the energy to crawl out of bed? Starting to come down with it yourself? Getting dosed with cure attempts? Doing the dosing? Or maybe you're not sick at all but went hurricane surfing and are now prone in the medbay. It's been a rough couple of weeks.

The HURRICANE'S AFTEREFFECTS still linger. Fish in the base aquariums and biomes are just starting to resume their regular activities. Maybe some of your special fish friends are still spooked and need some coaxing out? Maybe you want to swim out to a more distant biome to check on creatures like the Reefbacks or the Birdogs? Or maybe you want to stick closer to home and do things like finish repairing the busted corridors, and cleaning out the kitchens and showers so the food and bathing situation doesn't descend back into complete travesty.

For those who've started wandering out, there's also FAMILIAR ITEMS washing up -- things from your home, or at least...someone's home. Is an embarrassing photo of you now plastered against an observatory window for the world to see? Your fancy car from home buried in the sand of the Safe Shallows?

Lastly, on the night of the 13th (and subsequent nights...), a distant DISCO LIGHTSHOW becomes totally visible on the horizon, in the Monolith's direction. What the heck? Maybe that's worth checking out.

And of course, there's always PLANNING, MISSIONS AND SHENANIGANS to do. Go nuts!]

Awesome! He'll know what I'm talkin' about! So, you have any idea how long I've been out in here?

I...don't think you were in that bed when I fell asleep last night. So you must have been brought in after. Half a day or so; not that long.

[well, someone's going to have to pass this on sooner or later:]

Hinata's been here...longer, though. Weeks. That's...confusing? There's some really funny stuff going on on this planet, though.

Weeks . . . ? That's totally impossible. We've gotta be talking about different Hinatas after all! He's got hair you could impale a dude on?

[If it doesn't make immediate sense, it can't be true . . .

Okay, he knows better than that by now. But this is beyond the pale.]

[that actually throws Mikleo for a moment; he sounds a lot less grumpy and a lot more bemused when he answers]

I, uh, I can't say I've ever thought of actually stabbing someone on it, but it is very sharp looking.

[and...while he hasn't thought of stabbing a person, an image drifts over to Souda with that thought before he can catch it.]

[He's not versed in this telepathy stuff yet. When the image comes, he thinks it came from his own head, though he's confused as to where and why—it's pretty funny though. He laughs, taking it a step further in his own head: Hinata's stupid sticky-uppy hair impaling a few cobs of corn, being held over a fire for roasting.

That probably strays over in Mikleo's direction, too.]

Don't make it sound that violent . . . I guess I started that, but I didn't mean it that way! —But it definitely sounds like we mean the same person, so I'm confused again.

[oh my god. covers his mouth and -- and fortunately manages to keep a lid on sending any more Hinata telepathygrams; still, his mental voice is trembling with held-in laughter at the start of his reply, even if the content is serious.]

I think we do -- look, there's something really odd about the way people come here, okay? I fell down a hole into the ocean here myself, and I wasn't even anywhere near the seashore at the time. It's not your fault or his. Just have a talk with him and you should be able to sort things out and catch up pretty easily, I think.

[Okay, okay. It cheered him up, anyway; this is still screwed up and confusing, and he has no idea what he's gotten into, but . . . maybe, when he puts it that way, it could be worse.

Even if he's invisible and nothing makes any sense in his life.

He manages a laugh anyway, uncertain but genuine.]

Yeah . . . thanks, man. Not that I'm glad to hear that. That all's the last thing I wanted to hear, but at least it's outta the way? And if Hinata's here, it'll all work out.
