Extreme Makeover: Stop Sleeping on the Damn Floor Edition

[ The kitchen is patched up. The shower hallway is fixed. The worst of the hurricane that busted holes in their base seems to be over, and everyone can go outside again. Everything should be fine now.

Except for all these newcomers?? They won't stop coming. The base is packed, always. It's mildly stressful, and so to help Loki find his happy comfort zone, he fixes himself a mug of tea and heads over to the library for a bit of quiet time. There are so many people loitering around in the hallways this morning that he has to carefully weave his way around, avoiding stray elbows and hustling pedestrians. But perhaps it was inevitable -- he turns a corner, only to run into one Hinata Hajime.

His mug falls to the floor. Hot tea splashes on the walls and at their feet, the violent streaks remnants of Loki's hopes and dreams for the morning. Explicit tea gore, everywhere. Loki stares at the liquid carnage in shock. Then he begins to shake. And like a volcano, he explodes. ]

AHHHHH!

[ He cannonballs into the brains of anyone in range: ]

Enough. We're building more rooms for people to sleep in. Now. If you want to be guaranteed a room, you work. The only people exempt are the sick or otherwise unsuitable. If you can gather materials, transport them, or help with furnishing rooms, then you're officially on the job.

[ Next, he points up at Hinata. ]

You. You're helping with this.

(( OOC: The actual building of rooms and furniture can be handwaved! Despite what Loki says, pretty much anyone can have a room. They'll be big 6-person rooms to share with your fellows. Responses will come from either Loki (who will probably bully you) or Hinata (who will herd you gently) or both!

[ His spilled tea left no room for vocal restraint. Sorry, Peter... Though he does not voice it, he appreciates that Peter is such willing menial labor. ]

The first step is to cannibalize scraps of the Aurora for building materials. There are mining tools around the base to help you with that. Unless you prefer a less rugged and potentially dangerous job?

Why? What's wrong with our current sleeping arrangements? Perhaps you're being a tad overdramatic?

[ she's just annoyed at the sudden cannonball of telepathy. more dedicated sleeping rooms are an a+ idea tbh. ]

I'm being exactly as dramatic as the situation warrants. I spilled my tea. My tea!

[ Don't you understand...?! ]

[The whirring of a Chainsaw can be heard as Kanaya bursts into the hallway as soon as she heard Loki scream.]

What is going on!?

[Then the telepathic message hits. Kanaya looks awkward for a moment before turning the chainsaw back into lipstick. She puts that away and approaches with her fingers laced.]

Is there anything specific you need me to do.

[She glances at the tea's remains.]

Besides clean that up and remake it.

[ Loki goes from AHHHHH to AHHHHH when a troll BURSTS OUT WITH A CHAINSAW???

But then the chainsaw goes away and oh it's Kanaya... Loki clutches his heart with one hand and turns away in relief, breathing heavily.

Oh, that's a good idea. We got distracted after turning the one we built into the medbay, I guess...are you organizing?

[he's never been very worried about sleeping out in the open, but with Rose and Alisha here now, it's a coincidentally good time to think about shifting accomodations.]

Aa, I suppose so. Along with Junior here.

[ Because Hinata spilled his tea (even if Loki was 50% of it), so he isn't leaving this unscathed. Loki makes sure to include Hinata on this telepathic channel so that he knows that he is well and truly roped into this. ]

Let's see... If you're too small or young for this kind of labor, or if you sincerely have better things to be working on. For example, Valentine is working on the cure to that illness going around.

[Guess who got roped into this completely against his will?? It's Hajime Hinata. Even over telepathy, he just sounds exhausted already.]

Um... we'll need materials as well as manpower, I guess. What kind of assistance did you have in mind?

[ In another room, another mug of tea falls to the floor. Loki's telephatic volume was definitely a shock. Hotaru doesn't think she's ever heard him raise his voice (?) like that? ]

Loki? Is everything okay? Did something suddenly happen?

[ Because it's a good idea without a doubt. ]

He's fine. He just dropped his tea and decided to throw a fit about it.

Privacy isn't the issue. The issue is space! The fire commissioner would have a stroke if he saw the way we clutter the halls with all our beds and bodies.

I haven't had any problems with the current arrangements.

But if it helps people like you get privacy guess it couldn't hurt.

Are you kidding? It's a mess. My dreams are haunted with midnight rapping. If I need to get up in the middle of the night, it's impossible not to trip on someone. It's unsanitary, too. We don't clean the base nearly as much as we should. I don't need privacy as much as I need a sane living space.

I'll help! The drones can help too, you know...But it's a good idea. I guess we are getting a little cramped.

["A little" is an understatement, as he's taken to hiding out in the medbay to read instead of trying to squeeze past people in the hallways to make it to the library.]

Always count on Sorey to show up when in times of need, hm? It's always felt cramped, but lately we've been accumulating a lot of materials and plunder. Personal rooms will help sort some of that mess away too.
