Mass texting
[Early in the morning, maybe too early for some people, there's a very important mass text being sent out:]
HEY EVERYONE IT'S SOREY
AND MIKLEO
WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF YOU CAN SHARE SOME MEMORIES OF YOUR HOME, SO THAT WE CAN SHARE THEM WITH URSULA
IT WOULD MAKE HER HAPPY
SHE CAN READ ALL OF THIS THOUGH SO COME TO THE LABS WHEN YOU'RE FREE SO IT'S A SURPRISE FOR HER
NO PEAKING URSULA
[Sure enough, if you venture over to the labs anytime today, you'll find Sorey and/or Mikleo waiting around for people and multitasking at running a few tests.]
[[OOC: You will get Sorey or Mikleo tagging you, feel free to have characters talk to each other to brainstorm memories if needed too!! Please also fill out the OOC post over HERE for organizational convenience <3]]

When she reaches Mikleo, she offers him a smile.]
I'm Korra. Nice to meet you. [She stoops down to glance at his work.] What's this for?
no subject
That's a different thing -- I'm messing around with putting magic into materials from this planet. Not a lot of progress yet, but some of the results are interesting. You're here about that message Sorey sent, though, right?
no subject
[She smiles at him, tucking away her curiosity about the other project for later.]
If you're doing all this for her, that means you know URSULA pretty well, huh?
no subject
[there's a deep and obvious fondness in his tone.]
We can't do anything with fancy robot building, and I think that's being handled...? But we just want to do something nice for her, since she hasn't been feeling so well.
no subject
[She perks up with curiosity now.] She hasn't been feeling well?
no subject
[he's going to hold on to that hope whether it takes another half year or a full year or ten years. he needs to go home, sometime. it's important.]
And--yes. Not sick, but she says she's felt...claustrophobic? Cooped up? It makes sense, she's literally been indoors all this time. I didn't realize since she sends drones out with us and we thought they transmitted things back to her, but it seems more like they feed her information...? Rather than what we perceive with our senses.
no subject
So that's where the memory-sharing idea comes from. Can't say I blame her for feeling that way; I'd go stir-crazy if I were stuck in the base for that long, too.
[Just then, Korra pauses.] Actually I wanted to ask you something. About URSULA. She's made from technology...kind of like a machine, right? Is it normal for machines to act like she does? I've never heard of anything like this back home.
no subject
[he'd say it's like magic to him, except magic is what he's used to and knows more of the limits of.]
I think she's a normal...creation? for the humans who made her, though. Some of the other machines and suits here have AI as well, though they're not as smart as she is. She's her own person, I suppose? And she learns from us, she said as much. Just...she was made as a machine, not born.
no subject
[Asami probably would've been interested to know how it all worked, anyway.]
Do you think we could just keep sharing memories with her? I mean, even if we all show her our own worlds, she's going to run out of things to look at eventually, right?
no subject
...she said if it's outside her range you can still transmit it, it just won't get to her until you're nearer the base again. I'm not quite sure how that works, but as long as it does, right?
no subject
Oh! So it's like those shots they gave us when we got here?
no subject
no subject
[She leans against the table, careful not to disturb his current projects.]
So what do you need me to do? Just take the new shot?
no subject
The change was made on her end of things, so no new shots needed -- we probably wouldn't have gotten a very good reception if we greeted people with needles, hah.
Just send her a memory, or memories, whenever you feel like it.
no subject
I guess that would make a lot more sense, huh. But it couldn't have been worse than the shots we got in the beginning.
[With the closer proximity, and some of her initial excitement about the change fading slightly, Korra realizes that there's something about Mikleo that's pinging at her senses. She tilts her head, studying him now, and half wishing that Jinora were here to confirm her suspicions.]
no subject
[...i forget how avatar spidey senses work but basically what what's there to pick up on is 'spirit' and 'water,' both strong. he tilts his head inquisitively back at her, noticing; his tone is light enough]
Something on my face?
no subject
You just feel kind of like the spirits at home do.
(ooc: nothing that specific! the most she'll be able to differentiate is dark/positive spiritual energy)
no subject
Hahh, that explains why you can see me with no problems handily. I'm a kind of water spirit.
no subject
[Then, she's looking a little surprised herself, once she's puzzled out the implications.] Wait, you mean there's people here who can't see you?
no subject
[he looks a little surprised himself]
Does that mean that the spirits in your world are mostly not humanoid, but also...visible to everybody?
no subject
[She frowns at him, though it's out of concern.]
You can't do that in your world?
no subject
Without bringing spiritual corruption into the mix, there are three humans at home who can see seraphim with any sort of ease. Kind of a tiny sample size. We don't really have a way to increase that sort of sensitivity in someone, either.
Sorey can act as a bridge to let someone hear the seraphs, but he can't be everywhere.
no subject
But--there are other uh, you said it's seraphim in your world, right? How many seraphim do you know?
[Biting her lip, Korra stems the flow of questions for a moment.] Either way, I'm glad I can. Maybe we'll get some more spiritual people here later, too.
no subject
There's a few in every town...? I'd say we ran into maybe a hundred while traveling. Not many seraphs stay in one place or live together, so it's kind of hard to pinpoint a population size.
[and at her followup, he bows his head in acknowledgement]
There's a lot more accomodation for us spirit types here, I think. It's...been fun, living in a place where everyone can be reached one way or another. We're hoping to bring the means home too someday, if we can.
no subject
Really? I would've thought... there'd be some kind of village of Seraphs. It'd make things easier for you guys, wouldn't it?
[She fidgets, frowning slightly.] If most people can't see you, traveling like that sounds...lonely.
