Mass texting
[Early in the morning, maybe too early for some people, there's a very important mass text being sent out:]
HEY EVERYONE IT'S SOREY
AND MIKLEO
WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF YOU CAN SHARE SOME MEMORIES OF YOUR HOME, SO THAT WE CAN SHARE THEM WITH URSULA
IT WOULD MAKE HER HAPPY
SHE CAN READ ALL OF THIS THOUGH SO COME TO THE LABS WHEN YOU'RE FREE SO IT'S A SURPRISE FOR HER
NO PEAKING URSULA
[Sure enough, if you venture over to the labs anytime today, you'll find Sorey and/or Mikleo waiting around for people and multitasking at running a few tests.]
[[OOC: You will get Sorey or Mikleo tagging you, feel free to have characters talk to each other to brainstorm memories if needed too!! Please also fill out the OOC post over HERE for organizational convenience <3]]

And yeah. She says she was kept in a warehouse, then a ship, and then here, and her sensors don't really let her perceive stuff the way humans do. I think Dirk's working on ways to fix that -- don't ask me what, I don't know -- but in the meantime, it seemed like a nice thing we could do. She feels pretty cooped up here, you know?

Sounds like she could use a real body . . . something mobile! Some kinda robot! You said Strider's in charge of that? I'll go talk to him about it later. If he needs a hand, I'm his man! But . . . I guess that might take a while, sure. I didn't know AIs could feel "cooped up."
. . . Still gonna pass, though.

[he's easy; not at all offended by the refusal.]
But yes, you'll want to talk to him since I think he's doing the actual building. He asked people for design input but the results were kind of mixed, so he might like having someone else knowledgeable about tech to discuss the practicalities with one on one.

Nothin' against you or URSULA! And thanks for the tip! I'm not that experienced with robots, but hey, I'm the Ultimate Mechanic and all. I'm nothin' if not flexible! Maybe a huge mecha . . . a rocketship with optional legs? Y'know, like Transformers!

Attachments might be good? Variable body options? I guess it depends how easy it is to transfer her from one to another -- but if she wants to head out to different terrains, something customizable might be nice...
What are transformers? I mean, besides...things that transform...it sounds like you're talking about something specific?

[He clenches a fist with excitement, his mood going from 0 to 60 in a few seconds flat.]
All-terrain mode? Hell yeah! She's gotta be able to move through water, land, even the sky . . . you're not wrong!
no subject
[he does seem to get the concept; he's just not versed enough in tech to picture how it would work, though he accepts that it could.]

[he hesitates after that, and then shrugs to himself; the worst that can happen is that he gets a no]
Actually...when you have some free time -- this isn't at all urgent, it can absolutely wait for between your projects -- would you be willing to test some materials in some of your builds sometime? I don't have the expertise for that part of my own experiments.
no subject
[That does surprise him. Not unpleasantly, though; his interest is piqued right away.]
You're gonna have to be more specific about these materials, but you've got my attention!

[gestures over to the spread on the table he's working on: coral fragments, fish bone and carapace, metal ingots, stone, sand, quartz...]
I mean -- bigger samples, obviously, and processed so they aren't just...lumps. But I want to see if magic can be used to positively enhance the machines here in some way.
no subject
[He reaches out like he might touch a piece of coral, then jerks his hand back, giving it a dubious glare.]
It's not gonna curse me, is it?!
no subject
[THE CORAL JUST LOOKS LIKE CORAL! there's a few etchings on a flat bit; blocky complex characters, but they're just carved in, not doing anything particularly magical. some of the other things on the table have similar lettering but are also inert.]
What I'm trying to do is -- strengthen the metals, make them move more easily through water, stand up to it better. I can't alter the coral and rock the same way but it seems possible to make them act like batteries, to make their effect on the metals last a lot longer. In time I might be able to do something fancier, but I figured I'd try for something that would help the mechanical side of the labs out first.

Huh . . . never thought I'd be sticking sea creatures into my engines to make 'em run better . . . I don't really get how I'd incorporate it yet, but that don't mean I wouldn't try! As long as you're a hundred percent sure it's safe, got it? Let me see it in action before I even think about putting it in anything anyone uses. I don't know anything about magic!
But that's pretty interesting if it works.
no subject
Absolutely. That's why I wanted your help. Donatello wants to use it to modify our submarines eventually, but yeah, not 'till it's all tested and sure.
...thank you.
no subject
[But he gives him a thumbs up anyway. Even if he sounds half serious about that.]
no subject
You do, so that's all the more reason not to do it!
Donatello's a giant turtle person, you'll know him when you see him.
