A Fortunate Arival
[Arriving on Base]
[He was vaguely aware of waking up inside a small capsule. If he was to describe it he would liken it to one of those escape pods you see in scifi films. He might have had more to describe if he hadn't been violently jerked out of one perceived reality to another. After all, it was a little hard to go from a rather unpleasant state to suddenly waking up in a small capsule and being attacked by some horrible sea monster.]
Oh what bad luck!
[But as soon as he said that much a laser fired out and monster got distracted going somewhere else. before he knew it something was shooting him out and directly towards the base. Though his legs were a little wobbly, and he definitely needed a moment to gather himself it didn't take too much effort to board. As soon as he walked in he smiled cheerfully.]
It was lucky after all!
[Med Bay]
[Despite a safe arrival he was not in a good state. Being stationary for the minimum of a month, the maximum of who even knows is hard on the body, especially Nagito's body. For the time being he was simply resting in one of the beds, though trying to get up every so often to move around. However, staying here was troubling him. He had taken measure of himself, it was someone else. A person that worried him.]
I guess my assumption was true then....
[Did that mean he failed? He had to know... he had to know if his plan had been successful, if he had saved them! Still... if he was here....
He lifted up his left arm and stared at the hand there. That hand that didn't belong. A woman's hand with red nails....]
This really is unlucky in the end.
[Library]
[It was later at night and Nagito had more or less made camp in the room. There wasn't anywhere else for him to go. Taking a private room didn't feel right, and he couldn't bare the thought of sharing it with others. However, he liked the idea of being where all the books in this place were. He could read them at leisure, and unless someone told him he couldn't stay... well, it was a free space, right?]

Maybe I am lucky... ah, but I hope I'm not too lucky.
[He laughed softly.]
I'll take your word for it about your horse, though perhaps one day I'll go see her.
[And an introduction. A western name?]
A pleasure Strider kun, my name is Nagito Komaeda. I have no accomplishments other than arriving her today alive.

Jesus, are all of these Hope's Peak kids weird about value and accomplishments?
Either way, Dirk keeps to his neutral attitude. It's not so much a mask as that Komaeda has not managed to hit the required level of emotional intensity for any response to show through. Dirk is still working on his emoting skills.]
That can be a big one. The farm is worth checking out whether or not you give Rapplejack herself a visit. We can always use help in tending to it.

[He sighed, he should really try and investigate this new area, but he still needed more time to rest. Why couldn't his stamina be better?]
Though, that is a good suggestion, I don't know how well I could do farm work. I'm good at cleaning though if that's any use.
But... I suppose first I should worry about two functioning hands. How embarrassing, to be seen in such a state.
no subject
[A pause because.]
Yes. Embarrassing is exactly the word that comes to mind. [No.]

[It was just like a ticking time bomb, how long would it take before someone drowned because he had a good day?]
Well... it's hard to feel anything else. I'm rather unsure about it. There's a lot of questions to be had when you've been asleep for at least a month.

[It's his first assumption. But he's pretty sure that people were there recently? Didn't Karkat and Chara go? Surely they'd notice people in the pods.]
no subject
[It had been a huge shock. And then a monster... but everything had been fine after that.]
Hmmm... I suppose given this chance I should actually ask some useful questions.
[Because already things just weren't quite adding up.]
Where is this? And what year is it?
no subject
This is the planet Iniidae. I can't give you the star coordinates but someone probably can. The year is I think in the 22nd century. [...He didn't find any of this important to look up.]
no subject
[ What had happened...? He touched his body casually as if inspecting it.]
I'm in surprising good health if I really was asleep for that long.

[The news could perhaps be delivered more gently. Unfortunately, Dirk does not have that skill.]
no subject
[Was hard to believe.]
Could this still be virtual reality...?
[He shrugged. It was easier to just accept it as truth than trying to analyze it. After all he had to believe in his own senses. If something turned out to be different he would just have to figure it out when there were enough clues.]
With so few pieces it's just easier to accept this all at face value.
