[ Kara has cleared out a landing site just outside the area of the ship Mimi was camped in. Each member of the party has been given a rough map marking the more thickly forested areas, contours marked for hills, and an arrow in the water indicating the general direction back to the underwater base. There are Xs for where the old shipwreck emerges through the green, but only those visible from the air, if you're on foot you're on your own. In Kon's handwriting, the maps are all labelled Amity Island in block letters. The wildlife is friendly unless provoked; we can't vouch for the plants. ]

[ The body itself is in a sturdy wood coffin resting on a bed of freshly dug earth, the lid can be easily pushed off. Time to get cracking. ]

For the moment I'm going to at least mark it.

[ He placed a sit to the side sticking into the ground. Not too close as to potentially disturb the print, but close enough to be noticeable. That way at least people won't accidentally step on it. He hoped. ]

We should continue on now. This should be enough and knowing the destination is important.

[Kanaya starts walking to follow the trail once Nagito does. She keeps her chainsaw at the ready in case any bad luck or wild beasts happen.]

[ Not too much happens, the trail leads to a ship, and the deeper in the more interesting it got untill there was some sort of control room with buttons. ]

Oh! This is neat. I wonder if we can learn anything.

[ He starts randomly pushing buttons. Though he's keeping an eye to see if they do anything. ]

That might not be the best idea-

[Kanaya is promptly cut off by the display turning on.]

Nevermind. Good job.

[Once the display turned on he was more careful with what he pushed.]

[After a few more tries a holographic map of the world lights up, with a few places marked in red]

Oh my, I think this might be somewhat important.

We will have to get this translated later then. However, if this is a map of the whole planet, you may have found perhaps the most valuable clue yet.

[Kanaya pulls out her device and walks over to stand by Komaeda. She's turned her glowing off for now, as the screen provides plenty of light.]

We should probably find a way for both of us to download it. I would rather have multiple copies available, just in case something unfortunate happens.

[At the very least, hopefully his luck will only target one copy. She's not gonna chance this.]

Hmm, that might be a little hard. I know enough about computers, but everything here is a bit... advanced beyond my experiences. Do you think it has a wireless connection? Are they even compatible?

[It might be a good idea to go get someone who could be more helpful now.]

Do you think that we should loop back and bring Dirk? Or should we continue poking around before disturbing him?

[At his comment about wireless, Kanaya brings her device up to the monitor.]

Perhaps you would have more luck with this.

I think it would be best to go get him. Or maybe even Hinata kun as he's more familiar with our own devices.

Maybe both of them? I don't want to blindly try too much else we get bad luck because of our fortunate find.

[Kanaya seems to finally make the connection that Hinata-kun is Hajime at this point. The names match up the most. Though why is he adding kun onto Hajime's last name? Oh well, it's probably a human thing.]

Hajime looked the least busy, but I'll send an text to both of them.

[Kanaya starts typing on her device]

While we are waiting, do you have any theories as to what the red areas are about? The areas I recognize are the Mountain Island and Floater Island.

It's hard to say. Either recourse deposits or areas of interest. Either way it's something that should be investigated and looked at. It might even be related to whatever happened here, or what was going on in the research.

But yes, either of them I think will be helpful.

I was planning on asking you anyway, but do you want to go investigate Floater Island sometime after we return to the base? I offered to teach you gardening and there are some easy to take care of plants on Floater Island.

[What could possibly go wrong?...You both are going to regret this so much later.]

I've also befriended the birddogs, so they will probably approach while we are on the Island. They are quite friendly.

Oh, that sounds rather delightful! I wouldn't mind going to another island, it's rather fun to explore such places.

[Kanaya looks back at her device.

Hajime is on his way. I gave him directions, so he should be able to get here.

I hope he doesn't get lost on the way. Or step on the prints. But, hopefully it shouldn't take too long.

It sort of makes me want to explore more while we wait.

[he's not going to step in the footprints... this isn't his first murder investigation!

It does take several minutes after Kanaya's text for Hajime to arrive at the scene, stepping carefully around the tracks so as not to mess them up.]

[He called out in the most friendly of tones.]

I was hoping you were familiar enough with our communicator devices. I don't really know them very well.

Ah... I took one apart, once. Back when Karkat infected them with a virus. I helped Dirk program the Report Card mode, too.

[Which... seems like a really long time ago. Abruptly, Hajime's homesick, but he keeps it from his face as he brings his wrist up to take a look at his own communicator.]

Kanaya said you found a map of the whole planet? That would be useful... let's see.

[He tabs through his communicator to his Report Card mode, bringing up their map of currently explored areas he and Dirk had equipped it with.]

I wonder if there's a way to sync them together? Let me see what you've found.

I got it on, and have more or less figured out how to manipulate it and make areas larger and more detailed. But... I'm not really sure how to go about saving it. I didn't want to push too many buttons in the chance I delete it by accident or something.

[He sighed a little and looked down at the communicator.]

So the safest way would be from the communicators side.

[And he hadn't been sure where to start with that. Things were just too alien from what he was familiar to have a sense of base knowledge.]

I was thinking the marked areas should be explored soon as well. They're probably important. I don't know if they're related to the murder, but they're definitely worth looking into.

Mm.

[He hums quietly, moving closer to stare up at the map with a frown before moving to the control panel. This is incredibly alien to him, and he doesn't even know what buttons to start with.]

I'd be reluctant to touch anything myself... I don't have your luck, after all. We could record it and try to recreate it on our own maps, or maybe...

[He trails off mid-sentence. The last sentence sounded more like he was talking to himself, anyway.]

You can't read that stuff, right? Like, the translator isn't working for you either?

It seems that Dirk will be coming as well. I'm sure that they will be able to safely navigate their way to us, and avoid destruction of evidence.

[Kanaya puts a finger to her lips as she considers the benefits of further exploration]

I did tell them that we were in the back of the ship, so I suppose that would remain true as long as we didn't wander too far.

It could also be interesting to make them have to find us. But, I can see the point in waiting.

Now is not exactly the time to do that.

[Don't want to give any premature heart attacks from shock.]

Although, we can always take a closer look at the preceding rooms and then meet them at the entrance.

[Or just wait for them here? Kanaya's okay with either option.]

Maybe just waiting for them would be better. If the ship is fairly large we can ask them to help search it too.

True. With the four of us, we should be able to cover enough ground to search the entire ship.
