closed mingle: welcome to amity island.

[ Kara has cleared out a landing site just outside the area of the ship Mimi was camped in. Each member of the party has been given a rough map marking the more thickly forested areas, contours marked for hills, and an arrow in the water indicating the general direction back to the underwater base. There are Xs for where the old shipwreck emerges through the green, but only those visible from the air, if you're on foot you're on your own. In Kon's handwriting, the maps are all labelled Amity Island in block letters. The wildlife is friendly unless provoked; we can't vouch for the plants. ]

[ The body itself is in a sturdy wood coffin resting on a bed of freshly dug earth, the lid can be easily pushed off. Time to get cracking. ]

[ ooc info about the island can be found here and here. any questions should be directed to the mods at the second link. ]

[Chalk up another person on the list of "people still surprised by giant Turtles". It's like a little bittersweet taste of home every time! Don takes it in stride, though, even offering D.Va a little smile.]

In the shell, so to speak. [But yeah, about the actual murder.] The autopsy's not my work, though - I'm just an observer. But it looks like Mimi died of asphyxiation. Her lungs collapsed. Whether we'll be able to tell from samples why exactly that happened... that's what I hope to answer. [His smile fades, just slightly, while considering just what could have led to this young woman's death.]

[ What a good sport! She mostly thinks he's really cool, if that helps. And he looks like a ninja. Please tell her you're a ninja. ]

Wait--someone's doing an autopsy? Holy shit. [ Looking at the body is one thing, but actually dissecting it... ] Man, this is really shady, especially with the footprints. I bet you it was one of the aliens who did this to her.

[D.Va, it's your lucky day, because Don is very much a ninja.]

Yeah, that's the best hypothesis we've come up with so far. The alien guy who was here... there wasn't any evidence of any aliens on board the Aurora, so he either isn't officially here or was never supposed to be here at all. [Creepy, either way.]

Of course, there could be something else going on. One of the problems with this case is that there's just not enough evidence to rule much out yet.

[ YES. PLEASE BE HER FRIEND ]

Speaking of aliens, we found an image on the Monolith of two guys with alien heads and human bodies. Apparently there was a picture like that found somewhere else, too? Maybe that's related to this! Maybe--oh my god.

[ . . . ] Are we gonna turn into tentacle monsters?

Shell, I hope not. I prefer actually being able to use my face. [He's only half-joking. At this point Don is starting to expect that Iniidae will come up with some new and horrible biological weapons for them to deal with.]

So far we haven't seen any images like that here, and there's nothing in the datapads that talked about tentacle monsters, so that's at least a good thing. Maybe.

[All of this is so frustratingly inconclusive.]

Phew. I mean, it would be kind of cool? But I like being able to use my face too, thanks.

[ Very inconclusive, indeed. Well...she's really of no help here, but coming here was worth a shot. ]
