Open Mingle! an informal event, or: massive sleepover

Evening, October 10

Following Hajime (Number 2)'s announcement, the Hajimes have worked together to take over the game room/rec room and dance floor. Hopefully no one had any dances or performances planned, because they've taken most of the spare pillows and blankets and hauled them in to cover the floor. And probably made some extra just for this event.

There are snacks! There's the game room! There's enough space to sleep and maybe get close to someone! It's a mingle for a sleepover. The Hajimes are hoping that people will feel better if they go to sleep knowing someone is close by, and maybe if people sleep in close enough proximity, they'll wake up in the dreamscape together and be able to ward off nightmares together. Who knows!

Go wild. But not too wild, there are Children on this base.

I'm not quite sure. I don't think you quite understand what you're tempting.

Maybe not! But sometimes you have to take risks for people, you know?

What would even be gained by such a risk? I already know the potential outcome.

Hm, like I said. It's good to try finding out what you might be able to get away with.

[ and then suddenly, ] Why did Hajime-kun almost get shot in the head?

My luck has the ability to destroy a plane and everyone in it....

[He didn't need to test what he could get away with, he just needed to find people whose luck was equal or greater than his. Or maybe immortal.]

Oh, when he came back he said he had all the talents and claimed he had luck as well. Of course I didn't believe him, so he tried to shoot himself to prove it.

[He sighed, it wasn't out of annoyance, but, he was still conflicted about it.]

It jammed, so, I suppose he might be correct about it. But then he did that ridiculous thing with induced sleep, so I don't think he's really that lucky.

[ ah.

he has failed to tell her literally all of this. even the talent thing? he never really explained the talent thing in general to her though. the only thing hajime really knows about their situation is that they went to murder school for murderers and that there is an evil teddy bear an also a school trip fits in somewhere? ]

Is that so? It sounds like he's been acting pretty naughty lately then.

[ her tone doesn't really have any inflection to it, so it's difficult to read what her opinion is on the whole one of her best friends on base literally tried to shoot himself just to prove a point, and then apparently did something stupid during this nightmare fest. ]

What did he do with the induced sleep?

[Komaeda wasn't the best about explaining things in a proper linear way. The best way to deal with it usually was to ask questions and hope he obliges. Sometimes he just legitimately forgot or didn't know a person was lacking information, other times was because he could be difficult and wanted to see how much they could figure out on their own.]

Maybe, it was rather frightening to watch. It wasn't even with a revolver, which is what I did and makes a lot more sense.

[He pauses a moment to think about it.]

Despite everything, he refused to let me do it. It was even my idea before he even had the good decency of returning.

[He was still annoyed about that, like Hinata had purposefully left of his own volition.]

To try and avoid REM sleep, though that isn't a very good option already, REM sleep is important. However... I guess if you avoid it, at least right now, you have something worse than a nightmare. I'm not quite sure... it was rather worrying.

[And he had yet to ask about it.]

[ well at least hinata is apparently a good guy, not letting komaeda do the stupid idea. she listens to him explain, her expression pretty blank throughout it.

yes, all of this sounds worrying? and stupid. she thinks they both have stupid ideas, really.

instead of saying this though, hajime is going to take the plate of (untouched) cookies from komaeda and set it aside onto a conveniently placed table. then, she is going to grab onto his arm, and start steering him towards one of the couches. this is your life now, komaeda. ]

[He's very confused, first the cookies being taken, then having his arm taken, and then being steered off somewhere. He doesn't fight it, but, he's really not sure what's going on.]

[ once they are at the couch, she is going to make him sit down on it. hajime quickly walks off, but she turns not even a minute later with a bag. she pulls out a hairbrush.

she is going to do komaeda's hair. ]

When did the gun thing happen?

[ she just leaps right back to their conversation as if all these things didn't just happen. ]

[What? This is confusing. His hair now? Was it really that offensive?]

Um... when he returned?

[ you do each other's hair at sleepovers, komaeda... obviously... ]

You're right, that was awfully lucky! I don't really get the talent thing though.

[Well, he supposed he couldn't complain, or well, he was already being pulled into a pace that was very much outside of his own so thoroughly he forgot to even do anything other than go with the flow.]

I understand a little bit, I don't really understand the luck however.... I really would rather more proof on it. I feel the only way to tell for sure is if he tries and interferes with me in some way.

What type of interference do you mean? Like bang! Or something else?

[ at least she's pretty careful with the brushing. there is no needless yanking going on here. ]

[His hair was wild, but he did at least make sure it wasn't a matted mess. Though, that was about the most he bothered with it.]

Oh, that would be a good idea! I wouldn't mind if he tried to shoot me. That might even be the perfect test. But yes, whatever is attempted should definitely be dangerous and life threatening.

[ she lightly bops him on the head with the brush. ]

That is definitely not what I suggested, by the way! [ and then she immediately goes back to brushing. ] What do you have in mind?

[He winces not really sure what he said to spur that sort of response.]

Have in mind? I'm not really sure. Honestly I don't think Hinata has the ability to try anything that would be needed. He never even tried to kill me once, even when there were several very good opportunities to set up a perfect murder.

Do you mean back when you were at school together?

[ hinata definitely does not seem like a murderer to hajime, so that's not surprising. he seemed pretty traumatized but the events that happened there, even.

she may have put down the brush and is just flat out braiding his hair now. they are kind of tiny braids. ]

No, not at school. We were never at school together. At least, I don't believe we were. Even if I can't remember my school life I know he wasn't in my class and not part of the main course.

[Was he going to have a lot of tiny braids?]

[ yes. the hair ties she's using are all flowery, btw, so that's a thing. ]

What about the school trip?

[He didn't mind flowery hair ties or anything, but multiple little braids? Wouldn't that be a bit stupid looking?]

Oh, the Mutual Killing game? Yes! I had been really hopeful that he would try and kill me. Because of everyone I really wanted to help him make an impossible to solve murder. And of course the best way to do that is to work with the Lucky Student. It only makes sense.

Though, it wasn't just him, no one took me up on my offer. I can't really blame them though, someone like me isn't really worth the time.

[ of course not? he is going to look so cool, okay. the most stylish person on base. ]

I don't know, something tells me that wasn't the reason they didn't kill you! Ah, although I've only met some of you, so I can't say for sure...

[ she pauses. she is partly wondering more about the murder game, especially since komaeda has been the only person so far who is very willingly giving information on it. she is also partly thinking that maybe she should have done space buns instead of braids?? hmm. ]

I'm happy he didn't kill you.

[Well, if it was going to be stylish he couldn't argue.]

Are you sure? I'm sure it's because they couldn't trust me and didn't like me. Hinata kun was simply the sort of person who couldn't do it. Which I think is a good trait of his. He's definitely a person who embodies hope!

[Komaeda didn't know when to not talk about certain things.]

I still died though, I just had to take matters into my own hands at that point.
