[ NEW MONTH, NEW US. Are you attempting to figure out ways to solve Naoko and Jenn's respective problems? Helping to make the base island nice and fancy? Or any other type of shenanigan that isn't listed above because I don't know your life and am not privy to every single bad idea to come across the crew? [Operation Bolin and Raven Ore Retrieval (The Dunes)] [Closed to Raven and Bolin]

I think this is the place. I'm going to start digging.

[Bolin couldn't bend metal, which meant that any work around the actual metal would have to be done by Raven. It also meant he couldn't send metal, but he could sense rock. From there, he could separate the two easily enough if he couldn't bend something.

He settled down on the sandy floor. He did a quick look around to make sure nothing close by was laying in wait for him before he slipped into the best stance he could manage while being underwater.]

Rrrggggg...

[The sand began to part away as chunks of rock lifted up off the ground underneath.]


[Bending Practice (Pallas Island)] [OPEN TO ALL]

HA!

[Bolin stomped the ground at his feet, kicking up a chunk of earth that he hurled forward against a rock target that he had created. Sliding his feet against the ground, he spun, kicking outwards and sending another rock flying to another target.

The third and last target, Bolin snapped up a sizeable chunk and it hovered briefly before he changed it into Lava. It spun into the shape of a circular blade as he ran forward and sliced the last target in half.]

...Phew. Should get some practice in with Korra today.


[R & R (Just outside the Island Base)] [OPEN TO ALL]

[Laying just underneath a makeshift bit of shade rested Bolin, his arms and legs splayed out with a furry creature resting on his chest. While not the loudest sleeper ever, Bolin is not currently hiding the fact that he's sleeping outside the base.]

[Percy's still on his quest to explore as much as possible, but what he wasn't expecting was to see a bunch of rocks flying. He keeps his distance for a moment as he watches before he approaches with his hands in his pockets, tilting his head just slightly.]

So if Korra's a waterbender, that makes you a rockbender? Or lavabender, I guess.

[bolin_rocks]

Huh?

[Bolin turns just as he takes a towel and wipes away the sweat on his brow. It might look seamless, but bending took a fair bit out of you. He smiled as he recognized the visitor as Percy.]

Earthbender and Lavabender. How are you doing, Percy?

[expulsions]

[Okay, earthbending. He could totally remember that. Earth, air, fire, water.]

That's really cool. I didn't know lava could even be bent. [He rubs the back of his neck, grinning in return.] I'm still getting used to having this much free time on my hands if you really want to know. This is new.

[bolin_rocks]

A while back, neither did I. Turns out it's a really rare talent.

[Bolin chuckles and wanders over to Percy, putting an arm around his shoulder.]

You and me both. I sometimes miss the days where it was just me and my brother in the Pro-Bending circuit. No angry spirits or crazy assassins.

[expulsions]

Rare like metalbending? Korra was going to start learning that too, I think. [Or at least that's sort of what they figured when he had spoken to her about the rare metal he found at the Aurora.

On the other hand, he doesn't seem to care about the amicable arm around his shoulder. Percy's used to it by now from people and Bolin's hardly a threat, so it's fine.]

I didn't know pro-bending was a thing. What does that even mean?

[bolin_rocks]

Start? What do you mean start, she already... Oh. Yeah.

[Haven't been to Zaofu yet. He does get excited when Percy asks and pulls back so he can stand in front of him.]

It's an amazing sport! You need three benders. A water, fire and earth bender. And the objective is to use your bending to knock the other team back into their sections.

[While describing this, Bolin uses his Earthbending to carve an indent into the ground between them that shoes two sides, each with three sections.]

[expulsions]

[A sage nod. Yeah. That. The time difference thing again. That's a pretty big problem. But he lets it go because Bolin seems excited to explain this thing.]

So it's like an actual arena fight. That's pretty cool. [He's watching the ground, studying the drawn diagram.] But why those three? What about airbenders?

[bolin_rocks]

Well, when we were pro-bending players, there were only four Airbenders in the entire world.

[No longer the case though.]

They've returned, though.

OBROR

[grimorium]

[ Raven nods and waits as he does his thing, literally moving the earth like some blond-haired girl she hasn't canonically met yet. She's grateful to have a guy like this around, especially on their current mission. It makes mining so much easier.

When the chunks are raised, Raven lifts her hands, black energy crackling even under the water. Her psionics pull away the remaining chunks of rock that cling to the ore. Once separated, her telekinesis pulls the mineral towards her, where she stores it inside a psionic "bubble" with the rest of the chunks they've mined. ]

Great work. We make a good team. [ She sounds as apathetic as ever, but hey... a compliment is a compliment, right? And it's not as if she doesn't mean it... ]

[bolin_rocks]

Yeah. Thanks!

[Bolin shifts the ground nearby for more of that ore. Just as he starts to do so, a Sand Shark bursts out, surprising him and causing a flurry of thoughts and bubbles from him as he narrowly avoids a chomp to the shoulder.]

[grimorium]

[ Raven reacts on reflex, smacking the shark away from him with a powerful bolt of energy. Almost immediately, she's ambushed by another Sand Shark behind them. She narrowly misses its jaws and is headbutted by it instead, breaking her concentration-- as well as the bubble where their ore is being cached. Winded, she struggles to right herself in the water, muttering curses to herself. Stupid, stupid ocean. Why didn't the Titans do more training under the water?! They live on the bay. ]

Another one!

[ Frustrated and getting angry, her eyes start glowing red... all four of them. The water hums and vibrates around them. She's going to go full on nightmare fuel on these damn things if they don't leave them alone, dammit. ]

[bolin_rocks]

[Unaware of what dangers might occur from Raven's powers, Bolin pays no mind to that and acts as though it is business as usual. It is, as far as he is aware. However, he takes a chunk of rock from the sea floor and the water around it begins to boil as he turns it into Lava. Careful to avoid Raven, Bolin sends that hunt of boiling rock towards one of the Sand Sharks, hitting it square on and causing it to thrash briefly before dying promptly.]

Stay away from it! The water is going to be boiling near it.

[grimorium]

[ She has renewed focus at his warning, and instinctively throws a protective bubble around them and the water surrounding them. They'll be protected inside while they try to get their bearings straight. After a couple of ragged, deep breaths, Raven's eyes return back to normal. ]

S...orry. It completely blind-sided me... not used to fighting under water.

[bolin_rocks]

[Bolin is surprised as hell. One for seeing this for the first time, and secondly, for being able to stand and talk in this bubble.]

Wow...

[It takes him a moment to register that she just spoke to him.]

Hey, it's alright. Are you ok?

[He hesitantly closes the distance, hand coming out to touch her shoulder.]

I'm FINE! [ She growls at him in a strange, deep voice, a black tendril coming out of nowhere and slapping his hand away. ]

[grimorium]

[ Feeling bad the second she snapped at him, she lowers her head and just concentrates on getting her focus back. The last thing either one of them needs is her losing control. ]

Just... don't touch me. I'll be fine. I just need a minute.

[ The shark scared her quite a bit when it snuck up on her. ]

[bolin_rocks]

[Bolin did indeed snap back from that attack, his back pressing against the edge of the protective orb. So, maybe anger was a really bad sign when it came to her.]

OK. Got it. No touching. As much time as you need.

[He'll hear a laugh from behind him as soon as he utters those words. Korra lifts a hand and waves when he looks her way.]

You called?

[Without waiting for an answer, Korra walks over to the last target, examining it.]

I caught the last part. The lava bending--that was amazing, Bolin! You've really got the hang of it.

[bolin_rocks]

[Bolin spins at the sound of laughter, worried at first but smiling warmly at the sight of Korra.]

Korra! Awww... You missed my earlier bending too! I've come a long way since my Pro-bending days.

[He is pleased by the praise.]

Hey, if you give me five minutes, want to do a little training?

[braavado]

I'm not surprised. [Don't mind her reaching out when she's close enough and ruffling his hair affectionately.]

You know I'm always happy to train with you. Just five minutes, though?

[She grins at him, teasing.]

[bolin_rocks]

[Bolin doesn't object to the affection, but he does quickly correct his hair as soon as the opportunity presents itself.]

Just five minutes... Yeah!

[Looks away, embarrassed.]

[braavado]

[She snorts with amusement, then punches his arm--hard. You know. As good friends do.]

I was joking, Bolin. I'll train with you as long as you want. Are you going to try something else with the lava bending oooorrrrrr....? You had something else in mind?

[bolin_rocks]

Hm... Well, we would need some protective gear if I'm going to be throwing hot chunks of rock at you. We got anything like that here?

[braavado]

If we do, I haven't seen it. Some of the others have their gear from home, though.

[There's a curious sort of look on her face--the kind that spells trouble, usually.]

I wonder if I'd still be able to bend if the rocks are just heated up. You know, before they're actually melted into lava.
