[A fairly large group of heroes is making a foray into the Grand Reef now that the Reapers are gone. They're keeping an eye out for resources the base/Naoko could use but also questioning the fish; checking for signs of humans passing through; and also looking for the Emperor’s children, which the Reefbacks have pointed out might possibly be lurking in this area.


i. fishy findings

[Thanks to the combined efforts of the group, they’re able to get some information from the local fish. It’s a bit of a charades game for everyone (except Percy) but it becomes apparent that the Emperor’s children aren’t in the Grand Reef..or at least not the part they can access right now. But the fish seem more than happy to share some additional information about recent signs of humans and--well. Maybe they really do need a translator for some of this. Do you need some help communicating with the locals, or are you able to figure out what they’re so eager to talk about?

It looks like Fi is able to pick up signs of some natural magical hotspots here with her abilities, too, for those interested in that side of things.]


ii. hunt for humans

[The crew of the Degasi has left yet another abandoned base in this area, fill with supplies and information that could be of use. Their prizes this time are some audio logs, books, tacky sweaters, knives and other weapons, Reaper meat, and most importantly donuts. Additionally, locked inside of a desk is an odd object that might be worth investigating.

All of these finds aren’t going to make it back to the base all on their own, though, so it might be time for some good old fashioned looting. The Degasi crew’s illness and their run-ins with the Reapers might be worth discussing, too.]

It's not that she hasn't wandered off on her own before, but it's been long enough that, well, we have to assume she may have vanished the same way as other people have.

[he rubs a knuckle between his furrowed brows for a moment as well, unhappy and frustrated]

If ever we could use a clue to this problem, we could use it now.

Even if it's something that can get past us, URSULA's sensors should be able to pick up something. People don't just vanish. We've got to be missing something.

[People don't just arrive suddenly on other planets, either, and that's ostensibly what happened to all of them. But they haven't been able to prove that the reverse-vanishing is someone going home, so it remains too worrisome to leave alone.]

[aspearing]

Is it possible that we could get an answer from URSULA? Or, perhaps we could retrace our steps and search someplace we haven't thought to search yet.

[ She doesn't want to give up either. At least, not until they've exhausted their options. ]

I did ask URSULA. It's the same as the other disappearances...she was able to pick up Rose's life signs until she simply...couldn't. They didn't stop, they just dropped off the map.

[deep breaths]

We can try another area. Did any of you try talking to the fish--? They didn't seem to have noticed any humans come by recently, but perhaps where you were looking...

[already shaking his head]

I talked to every fish I saw; there was no sign of anyone passing by. I know she can be quiet when she needs to be, but I can't think of any reason she'd hide from all of the fish like that. And she'd say something before leaving if it was intentional.

[aspearing]

I did, but they haven't seen a trace of her, either.

[ To hear that Sorey say that and know that she did indeed disappear without saying anything... It's worrying, to say the least. They're running out of places to look for her in. ]

Shall we look where we haven't yet?

[oneandmikleonly]

We're going to have to.

[he doesn't say what's all on their minds, though he rakes a hand back through his soaking hair with a breath of frustration: they're running out of said places. it's stupid to think Rose would be the exception to the disappearance-without-a-clue rule just because she's from home, but...]

We can try looking west of the base next. I don't know why she'd have gone in that direction, but it's not overly dangerous.

[imsorey]

[They've looked pretty much everywhere, but there's a chance--a slim, slim chance--that they overlooked something, or the currents might wash through a clue for them. URSULA might say that she missed something on her scanners. It's barely a shadow of a chance, but it's still better than nothing.]

She could have been exploring, or looking for supplies. We don't know why anyone else who vanished went out, right? Anything's possible.

[He's already putting on his mask again, ready to head back out.]

[aspearing]

Rose is still rather new here, isn't she? It's possible that she could've concluded somehow that that way was the best way to gather anything she was looking for.

[ She nods at Sorey when she sees him putting his mask back on, starting to do the same. She's ready to head out if they are. ]

It's true. And--we have had people go missing for weeks and come back. Not many of them, but...

...let's just hope the lack of clues is because she's used to covering her tracks, I suppose.

[sighs and settles his own mask; time to get going]
