THE GRAND REEF ADVENTURE | OPEN EXPLORE MINGLE
[A fairly large group of heroes is making a foray into the Grand Reef now that the Reapers are gone. They're keeping an eye out for resources the base/Naoko could use but also questioning the fish; checking for signs of humans passing through; and also looking for the Emperor’s children, which the Reefbacks have pointed out might possibly be lurking in this area.
i. fishy findings
[Thanks to the combined efforts of the group, they’re able to get some information from the local fish. It’s a bit of a charades game for everyone (except Percy) but it becomes apparent that the Emperor’s children aren’t in the Grand Reef..or at least not the part they can access right now. But the fish seem more than happy to share some additional information about recent signs of humans and--well. Maybe they really do need a translator for some of this. Do you need some help communicating with the locals, or are you able to figure out what they’re so eager to talk about?
It looks like Fi is able to pick up signs of some natural magical hotspots here with her abilities, too, for those interested in that side of things.]
ii. hunt for humans
[The crew of the Degasi has left yet another abandoned base in this area, fill with supplies and information that could be of use. Their prizes this time are some audio logs, books, tacky sweaters, knives and other weapons, Reaper meat, and most importantly donuts. Additionally, locked inside of a desk is an odd object that might be worth investigating.
All of these finds aren’t going to make it back to the base all on their own, though, so it might be time for some good old fashioned looting. The Degasi crew’s illness and their run-ins with the Reapers might be worth discussing, too.]
iii. wildcard
[...or are you doing something else out here altogether? Go nuts!]
((more info on mission findings is here! feel free to pop in even if you’re not oocly signed up for this, tag each other freely, etc.))

That still meant hunting. It also meant scanning, as she'd taken the microbial scanner to check out anything she came across. If there was going to be a contagion again, she wanted to be more prepared than last time. Considering she was actively hunting for one this time...
"Better safe than sorry," she muttered.

She flicked her gaze up to Dirk briefly before checking the readings on the scanner again. "Found anything interesting?"

[Jake is playing with the weird object. He's trying to get it to function or, well, he assumes it functions? It must have a function. So he's doing things like... shaking it and tilting it weird ways.]
Consarn it, this space age doodad sure is bamboozling the shit out of me.
[B]
[He can also be found playing with the knives while listening to the audio recording.] Boy howdy that damsel was not the sort to be in distress. Is? Was? Are any of these fellows alive anymore...?

Maybe there's some kind of lock on it?

[after whatever weird and mildly charades-laden conversation ensued with the fish, Mikleo's just kind of sitting outside the base next to one of the weird glowy orbs that light the area, holding onto it to keep from being tugged off his perch by the current. He's ruminating to himself telepathically, but not really bothering to shield the broadcast much; you'll catch it if you approach him.]
So first these people build on Floater Island, then they go under the sea to...chase the Reapers, or something bigger...maybe the Emperor? If they were sick, did that mean they built this base after leaving the one in the mushroom caves? Or...ugh, why couldn't they have just stayed settled...
ii.
[Mikleo's looking through information as usual, pulling out datapads and rifling through desks and shelves; when they find the conspicuously locked drawer, of course he's going to jimmy it open.
what? he's from an RPG. sometimes the best loot is from the chests that take some getting at. he doesn't expect the odd object inside, though...]
Well, now, what's this?
iii. (locked to sorey and alisha)
[at some point in the exploration, without the threat of Reapers in the vicinity to keep them from splitting off, Sorey, Mikleo and Alisha have all swum off in different directions for a while, searching for signs of their lost companion in the area. this isn't the first biome they've combed looking for her this month, but it's a big ocean. they hold out hope for clues about her, even though no one previously has really left any. they kind of have to. it's a palpable gap in their group, not having her bright commentary filling in the gaps in their conversations...
they regroup inside the base where it's dry. Mikleo shakes his head a little once he's pulled off his breathing mask.]
No luck. What about you guys?
iii
Nothing. No one saw anything and there isn't any trace. Maybe we're not swimming far out enough?
no subject
Nothing on my end, either. Was it common for Rose to wander off on her own?
[ It's.... worrying, to say the least. If she's gone home, then at least they know that she's not in danger here, but... ]

[There's a lot happening here. There are a lot of fish in the area that have a lot to say and Percy can be found suspended in the water trying to keep up with their conversation. He's staring with a puzzled look before anybody nearby will pick up telepathically:]
But what does that actually mean? All water flows below.
ii
[Exploring isn't always bad and for a while Percy's busy amusing himself with ransacking the base. He take an interest in one of the knives and pauses when he eyes the other weapons, being sure to give them a wide berth. The last thing they need is the entire team accidentally blowing up. That doesn't stop him from pocketing at least two of the knives.
He has a stuffed fox in his hand, playing with its paws while he scrounging around and it's only then that he stumbles upon the audio logs. Anybody approaching will hear him playing these repeatedly as if he's trying to decipher the information.]
…that explains the knives. [He turns to whoever's closest.] Has anyone ever said anything about an underwater virus before?
wildcard
[He's probably found screwing around with the items found at the base or chasing after fish to get more information. Feel free to grab him wherever and stop him to chat.]

Mimi Yun was sick before she died. [And that sickness may have a lot to do with her death.] I'm pretty sure the animals on that island Loki went off to talked about sick humans being there before, and a lot of us got hit with an illness when we went down to the Jellyshroom Caves. It's the catastrophe behind us developing better filtration systems and actively scanning microbes in new regions.
no subject
How long ago was that? I don't think I heard about that yet, but Nagito was talking about Mimi a little while ago. [Or like. He mentioned she was found dead on an island so he's assuming that's the same thing.]

[Mikleo's hovering nearby, listening to what he can pick up of the one-sided conversation with interest.]
Might be an area you have to use the tunnel system to reach. There's one under the Kelp Forest; it makes sense there might be more.
no subject
It's possible. They keep talking about a member of the crew possibly disappearing to the water that flows below after the crew was first attacked. [He looks briefly alarmed by something then, turning back to the fish for a moment.] No, sorry, that's not what I meant.
[Probably. On the other hand he's looking at Mikleo with renewed interest.]
Have you been in those tunnels before? I didn't know they existed. We were on a different kind of mission when we were out in the Kelp Forest.

My readings for this area are highly interesting. The land is different here, an energy flow unlike the rest.

[but the little ones don't compare to the simply massive area she feels at a point, and Fi comes to a halt, staring over the edge of a drop and motionless. for once, she isn't floating, and instead has her feet on the ground, the only movement from her the gentle rippling of her cape in the current.

There is something exceptionally large below us. Some sort of energy too far to define accurately.
