THE GRAND REEF ADVENTURE | OPEN EXPLORE MINGLE
[A fairly large group of heroes is making a foray into the Grand Reef now that the Reapers are gone. They're keeping an eye out for resources the base/Naoko could use but also questioning the fish; checking for signs of humans passing through; and also looking for the Emperor’s children, which the Reefbacks have pointed out might possibly be lurking in this area.
i. fishy findings
[Thanks to the combined efforts of the group, they’re able to get some information from the local fish. It’s a bit of a charades game for everyone (except Percy) but it becomes apparent that the Emperor’s children aren’t in the Grand Reef..or at least not the part they can access right now. But the fish seem more than happy to share some additional information about recent signs of humans and--well. Maybe they really do need a translator for some of this. Do you need some help communicating with the locals, or are you able to figure out what they’re so eager to talk about?
It looks like Fi is able to pick up signs of some natural magical hotspots here with her abilities, too, for those interested in that side of things.]
ii. hunt for humans
[The crew of the Degasi has left yet another abandoned base in this area, fill with supplies and information that could be of use. Their prizes this time are some audio logs, books, tacky sweaters, knives and other weapons, Reaper meat, and most importantly donuts. Additionally, locked inside of a desk is an odd object that might be worth investigating.
All of these finds aren’t going to make it back to the base all on their own, though, so it might be time for some good old fashioned looting. The Degasi crew’s illness and their run-ins with the Reapers might be worth discussing, too.]
iii. wildcard
[...or are you doing something else out here altogether? Go nuts!]
((more info on mission findings is here! feel free to pop in even if you’re not oocly signed up for this, tag each other freely, etc.))

Should the energy be conductive to being shaped in such a fashion, there is an 80% chance that the barrier constructed would be able to withstand whatever threat you intended to keep out.
[a pause. that margin for error is, for her, unhappily high.]
The 20% remaining is to accommodate the unexpected, the energy being resistant, and your own incapacitation by something such as illness.

What if we work a barrier together?

[she looks to Zelda then, and her tone shifts just slightly.]
This would be acceptable to you?
[to work a barrier with her. it would again make her feel that twinge of emotion she had classified under "happiness".]

I would be happy to. In this place, you have a chance to live a life more than the one that Hylia... that I created you for. I want to help you with that.

[her gaze stays on her, quiet and something like she's looking for something from her.]
You created me for my purpose. That is my life, and has been for so long. What more do you wish me to do?
[when she asks that, it's honest. the willingness of someone who will take on whatever task she is given, because to her, that is what her life is. what it was. what it will. an instrument of light's will who does whatever she is capable of.]

Fi... I created you for a purpose while standing outside of time. I loved mortal life, the life of our world, even though they were in some ways lives alien to me. When I made you, I saw all the possible paths you might take for answering that purpose. I knew that even if everything went to its best possible plan... you would have to sleep in that sword, protecting us all. I knew that was the cost of protecting the world from Demise's evil in its most unstoppable form.
But you know... It saddened me to create you only to consign you to a fate like that. It saddens me even more now, in my mortal life, being who I am. Those of us caught in destiny have our purposes, but because of you, I... Zelda... get to live to experience more than that. I can live the life I want, and be the person I want to. I couldn't do that without you.
So, won't you let me give you the chance to live like that too?

she is not a person. Fi is, in the end, the sword. there is no concept of a life that she wants that alters from the path that she has known for a thousand years. Zelda is free. Link can rest. the world is safe. why is that not happiness enough? it is all confusing, to realize that Zelda views her as more of a person than she really is. so much she wants to consider and dwell on, analyze and consider and take apart in the methodical manner which is the only one she really knows to make things make sense.
for a moment, confusion is all she can process. but she will attempt words, for both their sakes.]
I can register the sincerity and intensity of your words, and I know that you mean them with all of your heart.
[she does not possess the things which mortals normally fill their lives with - dreams, ambitions, likes and dislikes. how can she live a life she wants if she needs time to consider the idea of wanting anything? how does that ever apply to her? why should she want different?]
Such a life...I do not know what I would do with it.

She just wants to give Fi happiness.
Zelda smiles. She leans forward, and kisses Fi on the top of her head.]
We'll find that out. Together, okay?
no subject
maybe she can be that certain again. with hope, who knew?]
...I would like that.
[there's a softness in her words. small, and hidden underneath her being herself, but still there if one knew her - small differences that mean quite a bit.]
no subject
Me too. I'm already so proud of you, Fi.
