THE GRAND REEF ADVENTURE | OPEN EXPLORE MINGLE

[A fairly large group of heroes is making a foray into the Grand Reef now that the Reapers are gone. They're keeping an eye out for resources the base/Naoko could use but also questioning the fish; checking for signs of humans passing through; and also looking for the Emperor’s children, which the Reefbacks have pointed out might possibly be lurking in this area.

i. fishy findings

[Thanks to the combined efforts of the group, they’re able to get some information from the local fish. It’s a bit of a charades game for everyone (except Percy) but it becomes apparent that the Emperor’s children aren’t in the Grand Reef..or at least not the part they can access right now. But the fish seem more than happy to share some additional information about recent signs of humans and--well. Maybe they really do need a translator for some of this. Do you need some help communicating with the locals, or are you able to figure out what they’re so eager to talk about?

It looks like Fi is able to pick up signs of some natural magical hotspots here with her abilities, too, for those interested in that side of things.]

ii. hunt for humans

[The crew of the Degasi has left yet another abandoned base in this area, fill with supplies and information that could be of use. Their prizes this time are some audio logs, books, tacky sweaters, knives and other weapons, Reaper meat, and most importantly donuts. Additionally, locked inside of a desk is an odd object that might be worth investigating.

All of these finds aren’t going to make it back to the base all on their own, though, so it might be time for some good old fashioned looting. The Degasi crew’s illness and their run-ins with the Reapers might be worth discussing, too.]

iii. wildcard

[...or are you doing something else out here altogether? Go nuts!]

((more info on mission findings is here! feel free to pop in even if you’re not oocly signed up for this, tag each other freely, etc.))

Right! Capital thinking, Sorey. Mind you, I've only been in one set of ruins but I think it still counts.

That still counts! It's just the beginning of your adventures, don't worry. If there are ruins to explore here, we'll find them.

Golly, I hope there are! Maybe alien ones. The human ones are okay but this is another planet so there should be alien ones.

Anything we find would technically be alien to both of us, but non-alien to the planet. Unless the ruins were created by an alien that wasn't from this planet. Do you think people have tried creating a civilization here before the humans from Earth? Theirs are the only structures we've found so far.

[Pondering it, he nods.] It's just hard to imagine humans were the first ones to think of it. Those Kharaa things have conquered dozens of planets from the sounds of it. One of them had to do it first. Or maybe someone else did.

It does sound like the Kharaa got here first, or close to the same time that the humans did. But this planet doesn't take too kindly to outside interference. It seems like it's been withstanding any attempts to colonize for a while.

Hmm, I wonder if there's a way to convince the planet to allow for it?
imsorey: (There will be no sign from above)

Whatever we've been doing seems to be working. At least, we haven't been kicked off the planet yet or anything.

Well we got sick. That sure wasn't very welcoming!

True, but it's not the planet's fault we haven't built up an immunity to the bacteria here. Other than that it's been okay.

[Aside from the occasional giant angry sea creature that wants to kill them. still safer than home???]
