So in non-radiation-leaking news…[There’s a slight pause and then the splashing of water like Percy’s still in the ocean.] Staying away from the Kharaa sounded like a great idea and I might have found something else.

The place where the water flows below. I think I found it. [And for anyone who wasn’t part of the Grand Reef exploration:] When we went to explore the Grand Reef some of the fish kept mentioning something that attacked the Degasi crew and that one of them might’ve sunk to the water that flows below. Problem is I don’t know if that means one of the crew members or one of whatever attacked them.

Anyway, I’m going back. I didn’t get far enough to really explore down there but there’s a bunch of caves and waterfalls that need to be checked out. [A beat.] Annnd some other stuff.

[That’s not ominous at all.] The tunnels should be big enough to get a submarine down there if anybody wants to come with me. [And suddenly he seems a little more commanding.] I don’t know what we’re going to find down there but if you think you can hold your own, let me know. I want to go back soon.

Okay. [Well that was easy, but he sounds a little amused all the same.] Have you ever been out past the dunes?

I have! And I can hold my own so you won't need to babysit me!

[ she mentions this because of the Serious Leadery moment he had in his message. ]

Oh yeah? [He probably doesn't even really recall how he sounded, but he's pretty determined not to bring people who can't fight well.] What kind of skills do you have?

[It's definitely not a "no", but he's curious.]

[ there's a moment of silence as hajime attempts to figure out how to describe the skill set that falls under a gatchaman. it's... honestly it is a little hard to explain if you don't witness it yourself? and hajime isn't really the best at describing things in a way that makes sense to people who are not her. ]

I have noooo idea what that means. [He's subtly making fun of that response but he's also just sort of surprised? What the hell is a Gatchaman? But it's apparently Something and that's enough for him.]

We could use as many people as possible. When I was down there there were too many paths for me to count through the trees and caves. We should check all of them but I don't want to send people out without a partner. [Except for probably himself because Percy is his own problem, but whatever.]

[ she has to resist the urge to raise her hand again. it's a habit. ]

What's the other stuff you mentioned?

[Mmmm. That's where he gets a little more leader-like, like he's used to relaying facts after scouting areas.]

Found some trees down there, too. Or maybe they're trees? I'm not sure. They were forming paths though besides what was in the caves so those would be worth looking at, too. There's a river down there made of acid and a really angry eel. I didn't get a chance to see what other life was down there before the eel tried to zap me. [Asshole eel :|] It gives us an idea of what to maybe expect.

There definitely has to be more down there since what else would the eel eat?

[ hajime is pretty sure eels are carnivores. ]

Should we bring a hazmat suit with us for exploring near the river? I think we have at least two.

There's other fish around the area that avoid the river, but that's a good point. We don't know what else is hiding.

[...Hajime...] Would a hazmat suit stop the acid from eating through? [This is a good question why are we considering this, gods.]

I have no idea! Although I'm not suggesting going in the river, that's silly. But just in case we need to get close.

How about I leave you to gathering those and loading them into the sub? Sound like a plan?
