SETTLING IN (OPEN MINGLE - JULY 1-7 PERIOD)
It's a much bigger group that trickles in to the home base from the monolith, by Seamoth or Seaglide, by magic or tech or just pure swimming power. Some of them are supporting the less aquatically-inclined newbies; some are in dire need of a rest from fighting that Reaper. Fortunately, with all the expansions and additions people made in June, the base isn't bursting at the seams quite yet, but fifty-odd people still makes for quite a crowd...
(VERY LOOSE) PROMPTS:
I. the spirit of discovery
[Newbies, there's so much to do! So much to see! Some of you brought your own things, but you'll also be getting your gear and your nanite modifications at the base, including the handy-dandy telepathy older crew have been demonstrating. There's tech everywhere; experiments and constructs in progress in the lab; a modest library to browse; aquariums of fishy friends; URSULA to meet; perhaps a couple of her helpful drones roving about if you wanted to futz with them. There's the sealife of the Safe Shallows to see (so much less threatening than a Reaper!), either on your way in, or if you sneak out later, or from safely behind glass in the observatory. There's the horrendous discovery that there are now several dozen people in this place, and one single toilet.
Older crew, there's plenty for you too! Are you showing newbies around? Maybe taking a couple to the med bay to rest up, since they came out of that dream business in pretty rough shape? Finding someplace to tuck yourself away after all the excitement, or launching yourself out the nearest hatch to get away from the increased crowd? Maybe some of you recognize each other, and are comparing what you last remember before coming here...]
II. domestic b...liss...?
[A bit later on, with everyone more or less in one place and one piece, maybe it's time to get a bit more organized, or play around a little with what's becoming more familiar. Perhaps it's time for round-robin introductions? Maybe you want to hold cooking lessons and get new people familiarized with what they can eat here. Or swimming lessons so folks can get around more easily. Or, if you're more mechanically-minded, it might be time to consult people and figure out some further expansions and accommodations -- though don't forget that hurricane season is coming. Maybe it's just time to built a giant fort out of all these air mattresses and have the mother of all underwater sleepovers. Your call!]
III. where the wild things are
[For new crew, the Void Song and the ocean still have a powerful pull. The dreamscape appears to still be open for this week, as well.
Do you give in to those strange, sleepy, oceanic impulses and head back out into the water, swimming to who knows where? Are you an older crew member trying to keep newbies from doing that? Maybe one of you sang the Void Song to someone to wake them, and have noticed the effects...]
IV. wildcard
[Have something else in mind? Go for it!]

The new kids on the block have been wandering. It’s a bit like herding up kindergartners, if kindergartners were in danger of swimming into the sea forever until death, which let’s be real would probably be something ridiculous and anticlimactic like a giant alien goldfish swallowing them whole.
So today Loki will help round up any stray newcomers he happens to come across! He cruises the skies as an innocuous little falcon with a light but sturdy rope coiled and fashioned into a lasso in his talons, which is not strange or unusual at all for falcons, shut up he thinks he knows a little more than you about falcons. He peers into the water with his keen eyesight for people who look like they’re swimming dazed or drowsy.
If that sounds like you, then surprise! What appears to be a sudden ten-year-old is coming in like a wrecking ball from the sky to smush you (if you look like you can handle it) or simply try to lasso you before you can swim away. Either way, he is quite small so one must wonder what he plans to do about strong, stubborn swimmers...
IV: Wildcard: Bird friends
a) Back to being a little falcon, Loki flies on toward Floater Island for some tropical R&R. He has been working very hard to divebomb wandering newbies and he thinks he deserves to space out in the sun in peace. Unfortunately for him, if you happen to be on or around the island today, you may witness a flock of Skyrays mobbing a lone falcon nearby. Frazzled, the falcon tries to break away...
b) Later on in the day, everything seems to be okay now amongst birdkind because the falcon roosts peacefully with the same flock of Skybirds in a tree, seeming almost to nod off to sleep. It’s fine to bond with the wildlife every now and then, isn’t it? The Skybirds are kind of cute once you get to know them, and it can be nice to be in the company of simple creatures.
Yes, it is so calm and peaceful. It would be fantastic if nothing shattered this precious tranquility. ]
iv b
Dirk changes flight paths to go towards the falcon. His presence is enough to scare off the birds, but he is Not going to tolerate any funny business from this clearly Terrestrial bird.]
You can tell me who you are telepathically.
[You fucking weirdo?]

The problem is he's hungry and he didn't bring any food with him. There's fishing but that's no fun. But birds sound great. He stays behind a tree in the distance, unmoving, breathing even and light. Then he draws his guns and peeks around, firing twice.
Aw, he wanted the neat bird, not the bird next to it. And now they're all scattering.]

[Okay he knows what to do with food back home. He has no idea what to do with any of this. What is it even? He holds up a jelly plant, poking it.]
This is edible, correct? I presume that everything but the tools in a kitchen is edible.
[Look he hasn't used one before.]
[III: Pockets Full of Stones]
[Haha Jake is smarter than the rest of you because unlike people who might try to sneak out at night, Jake grabbed a flashlight before heading out early in the day and just. Hasn't come back at all. He's waiting on a sandbank and the sun has basically set, so he's almost got this.
Once it's dark, he'll just take a swim. He's got this. It'll get his mind off whatever is going on with the ocean here.]
Come on, set faster.
[IV: Loaded Gun Complex]
[Somewhere around the Grassy Plateaus, Jake is sitting on the edge of some rocks, in a long-sleeved shirt and his shorts (why would people use wetsuits), looking rather serious. His different guns scattered around him in the sand. Any gun enthusiast would be happy with the selection, though they're all modern firearms, aside from a set of odd golden guns, and most are handguns.
Right now, he's using a rifle. He aims, pauses, then fires at nothing in particular in front of him. He puts it in his lap and starts fiddling with it but a moment later it's gone into nowhere and he's looking at his pile instead.
He's slightly less absorbed now but it's probably a good idea to alert him there might be people around so he doesn't shoot you.]

Hajime had been doing his best to be a good noodle and not swim away into the ocean, because everyone is telling him not to. Even though it seems like a brilliant idea!! So in an attempt to distract himself from plunging into the ocean, he'll approach the kid with all the guns. Against his better judgement.]

[ Although Yuri should be resting after waking up from the dreamscape and fighting the Reaper Leviathan he's not. Instead he's taking a stroll around the base. If he's going to be staying here he might as well take a look and see what there is. Library? Nope not going in there. But the Kitchen? Yeah he'll probably be finding himself there a lot, honestly.
If you catch Yuri he'll likely be doing some of the following:
a. in the Kitchen checking out the equipment and what they have to cook (fish, fish, and more fish. But there's fruits and vegetables too. good).
b. in the hallway walking or taking a quick breather. should he be resting? ... nah (yes).
c. glancing in any of the other rooms to see what's in there. but if it's the library or anything with science equipment he'll be sticking his head right back out so you have to be quick. ]

[ It won't be hard to find Cardia. She's usually somewhere, trying to help, but right now, she's watching a corgi bounce on her air mattress. And just just hers. This dapper sir in a top hat and one metal leg will be bounding over to test the springiness of anyone else's mattress too, regardless of whether you're sleeping on it or not. Granted, it's about that time where people are settling down for the night and Cardia's making a grab for Sisi the Sailing Wonder as he tries to reach new heights. ]
We're... really going to have to get a suit for you or go to the island tomorrow. You still have so much energy--!
[ III. STOP-- the love you save may be your own ]
[ What's that, newbie? You're zombie-shuffling towards the ocean when you're not fully up to it? No, not today, because Cardiac Arrest and Corgi Commander (superhero names not copyrighted) are blocking the way. Rather, Cardia is, arms and legs held out in her best starfish impression as the corgi runs in circles around you and does his damnedest to herd you away. You could punt him, but that would be rude. ]
Please don't be reckless.
[ IV. Stronger than yesterday ]
[ Oh, look. Cardia doesn't seem to be taking her own advice though, considering that she's wandering around and asking most people who look it-- ]
Excuse me. Are you trained in hand-to-hand combat?
[ And if she's not doing that, she's doing the very, very odd thing of tugging off a glove every so often and tapping a counter. A wall. She's still being cautious about keeping these touches to inanimate objects, but it's also still likely noticeable. ]
[ Any other ideas are A-OK, come at me with anything! ]

a. Library/Lab
[Within a day or two of being rescued from the Monolith, a rather plain-looking teenager in jeans and sneakers can most likely be found in either the library or the laboratory. He's under no illusion that he's not new here, and is trying to get caught up on everything there is to know about the base, and the ocean outside. He's... not entirely sure what he's going to do with this information yet, but having it is better than not, right?
He'll look up quickly if anyone enters, offering a friendly, if somewhat distracted smile. If they're reasonably human-looking, he'll nod politely, offering a,] Sorry, am I in your way?
[If they're decidedly not human-looking, well. He can't really help but stare in a bit of wary confusion. And awkwardly try to look back at what he's reading when he's noticed staring.]
b. Observatory
[Alternatively, he can be found sitting along the edge of a wall in one of the observatories, a small black smartphone-sized rectangle held in both hands. Between his fingers, observant characters might notice the back is glowing faintly with blue text and a cute picture. Unlike his reading material earlier, he doesn't seem to notice anyone approach, should they choose to, until they're already right there. Then he flinches, startled, dropping the little rectangle face-down on his lap.]
Uh... sorry. I didn't see you.
IV. wildcard!
[Hajime can be found wandering through the base, trying to make himself useful by lending a hand if asked, or by working in the kitchen. He's mostly trying to get himself situated, and learn everyone's names.
The telepathy thing still kind of weirds him out, though.]
b
[Given that the Striders are sort of insanely prone to moving around silently, Dirk is used to surprising people. His decision to make noise on approach to Dave hasn't been extended to others, after all.
The device looks cute. Some sort of student device? Dirk never saw something quite like that but he always watched a lot of American media more than anything, hoping to understand better the time and place that his Bro had lived in. Maybe Japan had things like that? He has no idea.]
I wanted to see if you were settling okay.
[Hinata didn't have his friends, and that seemed to trouble him a lot. So Dirk is checking in.
Especially because the newbies keep taking unhealthy dives into the ocean so he is super on the lookout for that.]

[Anna has never seen so many people in one place. In her entire life. Never ever. Well. Actually maybe. When she was outside Elsa's coronation for three seconds before falling into the fjord, but that doesn't count really. She didn't even get to talk to anyone!
But here? Wow. Wow! For the first time in forev--!! Er. Um. Well. Whatever amount of time since she was last at home. That doesn't flow lyrically but, she'll work on it. The point is she needs to socialize. Immediately. With whoever is closest. Everyone who is closest!]
Hello, hello! Hello! [Anna pulls a curtsy. And then another. And wobbles again to do another for him! And her. And them. And you! And your... twin? Wow. This is dizzying!]
IV.
[Wild card: If you have an idea for interacting with Anna I'm here for you. Let's do it.]
I
[Oh, she's... curtsying, which abruptly reminds Hajime of someone else he knows. So his first puzzled thought is that this is another princess, and then his second is why she's still curtsying. Maybe he should just... let her do her thing? Maybe it's customary where she's from.
Except she looks a little dizzy, and he's quick to reach out a hand to try to support her so she doesn't lose her balance.]
