[A] The mods said we can make panties now

[After talking to Haruka about the communicators and trying (failing) to figure out how to shut off the memes on his own, Hajime instead went to URSULA to get himself a second communicator. And then he and Haruka decided to rip it apart to find out how it worked with supervision from Dirk.

Sorry if your communicators are now not only showing/playing memes; for a few hours, they're also going to sound rather like chipmunks. Whoops.

Maybe more importantly, with some perseverance and a perhaps a grudge against meme-producing technology, they've found a blueprint to create something called the Fabricator. Which of course they built, because why wouldn't you build something like that.

tl;dr there's now a machine called the Fabricator which characters "can use it to fabricate... fabrics! URSULA is sure they will be pleased to be able to have more than one pair of underwear, as she has noticed that everyone has an odd obsession with hygiene." So go nuts! Hopefully someone knows how to sew...

[B] It's like coffeeshop AU except it's canon

[There's been a new addition to the kitchen! Several new additions, actually, the most notable of which is one of the fancy Starbucks-like coffee machines from the Monolith. It's probably safe to use? No one's died from it yet, anyway. Hajime's also brought back a good amount of the coffee and several different kinds of flavored syrup. It's time to make your coffeeshop AU dreams a reality.

Hajime definitely would have needed help bringing it back, so feel free to steal the credit from him in the end. But it's a mingle! Make your own top-levels, do whatever.]

[ and right now that good means making sure everyone has a spare pair of underwear or two. one of the observatories seems like a good enough place to set up camp, so into one they go. once there, hajime dumps her supplies onto a table. ]

[that's a real good attitude. makoto voices his agreement, and follows after her. we're pretending now that he was helping with some supplies, which he also puts on the table.]

Sleeping with jeans is pretty uncomfortable! They're all stretched out by now...

What should I do?

This would be a lot easier if we had a sewing machine.

[ they should... have someone build a sewing machine wtf they can build drones but not a sewing machine..... ]

This is pretty simple so far.

I've never actually done much sewing myself. It's usually my mum, or Haru. That's my friend. You like doing this kind of thing, right?

[ makoto is about to stab the heck outta himself. ]

Mmhm, it's one of my hobbies! And it's a useful skill to have in case of emergencies.

[ emergencies such as suddenly finding yourself on an alien planet with no spare clothes, for example. ]

[he's sat on the floor, for maximum concentration obviously, and suffers from constantly losing hold of the needle and having to pause his work to thread it again]

This is a lot harder than what I expected...

[he's got a few stitches in, but even those look kind of... extremely unpolished]

[ she didn't really expect him to get it immediately although she is fearful for his poor fingers now? he's like a muscly pincushion at this point. ]

Practice, practice, practice! I've been doing this for years.

[ hajime then, very suddenly, reaches over to grab makoto's hands again. this time it's less to motivate him and instead to check the damage. ]

[evidence of needle accidents left behind... he allows her to inspect the damage.]

[then finally sighs at his own inability at the most simple of home economics tasks]

I'm really no good at this... I'm very clumsy, I suppose...

We all have things we're good at.

[ she is not denying the fact that he isn't good at this, but maybe makoto will not notice. ]

Although sometimes whether you're "good" or not doesn't really matter, does it? As long as you end up enjoying what you do.

[his hand twitches in her hold, a mechanism that shows he just wants to take his hand back out of embarrassment...]

It hurts to prick my fingers constantly though. [uhm] Is there maybe some other way I could help?

Well... maybe we can get someone to build us a sewing machine? It'll make this go faster and you probably won't injure yourself with it.

[hrmm...] Hajime-chan, what else would you need to sew clothes?

A lot of it depends on how detailed we want to be. We're probably going to need a lot more thread. There's also things like zippers and buttons? For something like pajamas we don't have to go all out for it though...

[ she considers the fashion senses of the crew members she's seen so far. some of them are kind of out there. ]

[it all sounds so out of makoto's league of expertise...]

...do you need measurements?

[he remembers this much from stuff at school and haru scolding him and his mother stitching stuff for the twins]

[ hajime digs through her pockets and pulls out a notebook that she. apparently just carries it around with her. and she hands it over. ]

[ she kind of figures that it might be nice to do things the good ol' fashioned way instead of using high tech computers attached to your wrist all the time. ]

[hey! nice! he takes the notebook and--grabs a mechanical pencil and a measuring tape from the basket of things they brought over.]

Can I use these? I can go ask others if I can get their measurements [nothing wrong about this] so we have a sample?

Of course! I have a lot, so I don't mind you taking that one. Take good care of him.

That's a good idea! It'll give you some practice before you go to everyone else.
