URSULA's voice crackles on over all forms of communication, radio and telepathic. In both, her transmission seems unstable. "Warning. Urgent. Attention required. I really mean it. Please evacuate the water. If impossible, hide immediately. The blast will be incoming from the east. The Aurora has reached critical status. Dark Matter engines failing. Core system failure impending, counting down in ten... nine... eight... sev-- sev-- five... four... three... tw--"
Should any be above the surface in the line of sight of the Aurora, they will witness the fires of explosion. The outer shell pops and bursts into flame, billowing out, a deafening roar that cracks with a heavy wave buoying through the water. Shocks of steam fill the air, scalding what surfaces they burst over. A rain begins.
In some ways, it is the safest place to witness.
Below, the explosion ricochets. A shock blasts through the water, then another, sending wave after wave pushing seaweed flat down, knocking animals about, scattering and rocking sand. Pulses of burning hot bubbles shake through a radius, fizzling out only after it sears and disperses to ravage what rises above. Cold water filaments web through the pods of heat. The ocean shudders.
Even as far as the base, the Aurora’s explosion makes itself known. The whole structure shudders on its supports, loose items shaking and falling, rushes of white and dark water bursting past the observatory windows in one wave, another, a third, and in one empty observatory, a crack breaks through the glass, forcing URSULA to seal off the area temporarily.
Rain still falls above the Aurora’s wreckage. The last of the fires will be doused. When the waters become cool again, new sea life will move in to make food of the their dead brethren.
A strange keening shivers in the air at the edge of hearing.
[As a note, direct any questions regarding this event to the March OOC Post! And a special note for Korosensei, go for it ♥]
[ A little cave thing... that was broad, given the region, but it's more important that she's currently okay. ]
The Aurora wasn't stable. The engines blew, from what Ursula was saying right beforehand. Can you give me an idea of what the area around your little cave looks like?
[Engines. She remembers that word. They make things move. Engines on a thing that huge must have been, well, massive. If they exploded... yeah, makes perfect sense now.]
I wasn't too far from the base. I was looking around one of the tunnels trying to find more metal. Though honestly... I'm just worried about coming out now. Is anything damaged? Or is anyone hurt?
[ Engines she understands as a bare concept after having them explained; to her, it's an energy source, and those are readily understood with her views on the world. The sheer advanced mechanics of this place are fascinating, even when she herself is not an engineer; she knows of a dozen in her closer companions who would find themselves enchanted to study and examine these "wonders" for themselves.
But that's not what's on her mind so much as the looming problems of a disaster. ]
The base was damaged, but that's been contained. A few others are working on repairing that damage. The area shows the effects of the blast. There were injuries, though most near the base have been handled. We hadn't heard back from everyone yet.
[ How much worse it could be remains to be seen. ]
Regardless, if there's another explosion, I don't suggest staying in an enclosed space. They don't tend to fare well if they're not reinforced.
[ There's a questioning tone to her mental voice, wondering at what further explanation there she's missing. Healing arts? Martial arts? Underwater collection of missing person arts? ]
Oh it's like magic? I guess that's what it's usually called in other worlds. I can do water, earth, fire and wind artes. Oh and a little bit of healing. It's not the best but I can do it.
Magic... Fire would be the only familiar one to me out of those you've named. I'd be interested in seeing your casting, one of these days, but on a practical level, how extensive are your healing arts, and can your water arts do anything to provide fresh water if needed?
I'm more of an offensive fighter than defensive, you know? I can heal some minor injuries no problem though. And the water I summon is definitely fresh and pure.
[ There's still a lingering sort of amusement, but more than anything else, she appreciates how Milla's making considerations of overall needs. ]
The point being less relevant unless you presently have a pot on you. Moreover, borrowing one for a while would be fine, though a canteen might service better.

I'm stuck in this little cave thing but otherwise fine. What the hell was that though?!

Should I look around for anyone else or head back to the base?

[ She considers before she answers. ]
Do you have supplies on you?
no subject
Well, I have my sword. And my artes.

I more meant to hold the water should someone else need to drink. Cupping hands is well and good enough, but a little awkward when treading water.

Oh! Oh, right, of course. I knew that! [A pause. Right she has a good point.] ...I guess we could use a pot. But then we have one less pot to cook in.
